His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 218

Chapter 218

Roxanne put her phone back into her bag.

Seeing that Roxanne was angry, Annette asked quickly, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. It's just a sickening text from a psycho."

  Annette asked curiously, "A psycho?"

  "Yeah."

"Roxanne, you are not the kind of person who gets upset easily. Who can be this good?"

Seeing Annette's questioning eyes, Roxanne immediately felt guilty and said, "Alright, forget it. Let's go to the movies."

Roxanne was distracted during the movie.

She was wondering whether she should see Connor or not.

He told her that she should go and see him for the sake of Annette.

And of course, that was what she wanted for her.

So, after leaving Annette at the movies, Roxanne took a taxi to the Norman Group.

She went to the first floor and told the receptionist that she had an appointment with Connor at five.

To her surprise, the receptionist said directly, "Roxanne, right? Mr. Norman is waiting for you."

Roxanne wondered, 'What made Connor so sure that I would come?'

After she went upstairs, Hari took her into Connor's office.

Connor waved his hand, and Hari went out.

"Please take a seat," said Connor.

Roxanne crossed her arms and said cautiously, "I'll stand. Alpha Connor, what do you want to confirm with me?"

"At the cinema, you said I was upsetting Annette. What do you mean by that?"

Roxanne snorted in disgust and didn't say anything.

Connor now understood why Roxanne and Annette got along so well.

Both of them were stubborn girls.

"Roxanne, I know you're Annette's best friend, so I don't want to make an enemy of you. But sometimes people are selfish. It is possible to do things for one's benefit at the expense of others."

"Alpha Connor, what do you mean? Are you threatening me?"

Connor raised his legs and leaned back in the chair. "You have nothing for me to threaten you with, but your parents do."

"How can you be this despicable? I used to think that you were a man worthy of Ann entrusting her life to."

"Used to? Why? I'm not worthy anymore?"

"That's right. Men like you don't deserve her."

Connor said angrily, "I don't deserve her? You were helping me. How come you changed your attitude all of a sudden? I want to know what happened."

He thought, 'How pathetic. I have to rely on my partner's bestie to put in a good word for me.'

"Alpha Connor, don't you know what you've done to Ann?"

"If I did, why would I ask you to come here?" Connor fired back petulantly.

Roxanne thought for a few seconds and figured that Connor's words made sense. She took a step forward and stood by the desk. "Alright then. Let me ask you something. Who exposed Ann's identity?"

  She emphasized the word "who".

  Connor immediately got her point.

  "Ann knows?"

  "Yes."

  "How did she know?"

Roxanne said straightforwardly, "Ann said that Alina called her to apologize and hoped to be forgiven. Alpha Connor, how could you? How could you help Alina hurt Ann when you knew that Ann knew about your previous relationship with Alina? Why should I go on helping a man like you to win Ann's heart?"

"It's complicated," Connor said, sounding grave.

"I bet it is," Roxanne sneered at Connor. "All I knew is that when Ann talked about it, it sounded like you betrayed her. I feel sorry for her. You've hurt her deeply."

Connor stood up and said, "I'll go explain it to her now."

Roxanne became anxious and said, "What are you thinking? Do you want Ann to know that I told you about this?"

Connor's sharp gaze fell on her, and he said coldly, "Ann is a reasonable woman. You told me the truth, and you showed me what was wrong, so I could fix it in time. She'll know you didn't do anything wrong. Instead, you helped us."

Roxanne sneered, "But I don't want to help you, OK? You helped another woman deceive Ann. What you've done is so wrong that you don't deserve my help at all."

"I married her because I love her."

He finished speaking and walked out of the office.

Roxanne stood there and saw the concerned look in Connor's eyes. She always felt that Connor's feelings for Annette were genuine.

Connor went downstairs, drove himself to the entrance of the Black Thorn Pack, and rang the doorbell.

Seeing that Connor was here, Dwayne knocked on the door hurriedly.

  There was no sound inside.

Connor pushed the door open and walked in directly.

Annette was not in the room, and at the same time, the sound of running water came from the bathroom.

He curved his lips and sat down on her bed.

Annette was startled when she saw him as she came out of the shower.

She instinctively tightened her bathrobe and asked, "What are you doing here?"

  "I'm here to apologize."

"Apologize?" Annette was puzzled and raised her voice. She had no idea what he did wrong.

When Connor approached Annette, she hurriedly took a few steps backward.

She wanted to keep a distance from him.

However, behind her was the bathroom door, and she was cornered.

Connor pressed her against the door, staring earnestly at her face.

She raised her chin and stared at him, "What do you want?"

"I want to apologize. I shouldn't have apologized on behalf of Alina. But believe me that I do have my reasons."

Annette frowned and asked, "Did you just meet Roxanne?"

  Connor nodded.

Annette said angrily, "You threatened her, didn't you?"

"How can you be sure that it wasn't her who took the initiative to come to me?"

  "Because I know her."

Connor tapped her nose gently and said in a low voice, "The fact that you asked me this proves that you know me well enough. You know what I am capable of, don't you?"

Annette turned her face away. She said, "Don't touch me. Just say what you need to say. Then leave. I don't want to see anyone from the Blood Moon Pack in the Black Thorn Pack."

Connor pinched her chin, his eyes ambiguous as he said, "Ann, will you stop being mad at me?"

His eyes softened. Annette lowered her eyes to remind herself not to be deceived by him.

She looked at him again and asked, "What are you trying to say?"

"I was angry, too, when I learned that Alina had exposed you. At that time, I figured that if you knew about it, you would resent it, and she would feel aggrieved since she felt that she had done something good for us. The next thing you know, Lucas would hold a grudge against you for her, and I would oppose him to protect you. Of course, I don't care how Lucas treats you. I just don't want you to think that my war with Lucas started because of this. I don't want you to take the blame on yourself. Instead of messing everything up, letting you hate me seems to be a better choice."

Connor said, touching her cheek with his thumb.

She tried to avoid his hand, but she failed.
