His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 199

Chapter 199

Annette looked at Bartz's photo, and then she looked at Connor and asked, "Has Bartz ever been in showbiz before?"

Connor frowned and asked, "Why would you ask that?"

Annette stared at the photo and muttered, "Why does Bartz look so familiar to me?"

Connor smiled unconcerned, "I guess you were impressed when you saw his picture last time."

Annette figured that it was a possibility. Could that smile that had just come into her head really be some strange illusion?

When they went back to the Blood Moon Pack, it was already past nine o'clock.

Annette gave up on reading tonight. When she came out of the shower, she saw Connor go out.

She went to bed in confusion.

Connor soon came back with a brown paper bag in his hand.

He sat down on the bed and asked, "Do you know what this is?"

Annette was puzzled. "No. What is it?"

"What's in here is going to blow your mind."

Annette thought for a moment. Then she sat up, looked at him, and said coquettishly, "Let me take a look, OK?"

She admitted that she was indeed a bit curious.

After all, she wondered why Austin had been so nice to her.

Austin didn't treat her like this before.

Connor raised his hand to rub her head and handed her the paper bag.

Annette took it over and opened the file.

Annette's expression froze when she saw the content.

"How's that possible?" She looked up at Connor, and her face was grave.

"Are you sure? Lance is so nice to Austin. How could Austin not be Lance's son?"

"It's the truth," Connor said. Then he sat up straight and continued, "Accepting Austin is the condition for Lance to become the Black Thorn Pack's Alpha. Do you think the Black Thorn Pack's old Alpha is that stupid?"

Annette looked at the file again.

She thought, 'So, Austin was actually Kate's bastard son when she was very young?'

Annette still failed to come back to her senses. Confused, she asked, "But this doesn't explain why he is so nice to me?"

  "What do you think?"

  "Does he know about this?"

Connor nodded. "Of course. I sounded him out last time."

"Do you think he feels pity for me, because he knows he's not Lance's kid, and he thinks he is in a similar situation to me?"

"Silly." Connor gently tapped the space between her eyebrows.

She raised her hand to cover the spot and said indignantly, "Isn't my analysis reasonable?"

"A man who is not related to you won't be nice to you for no reason. Either he has feelings for you, or he can get something from you."

Annette said in horror, "I'm of no use to Austin. What are you suggesting?"

  She hesitated.

Connor nodded casually. He said, "You've finally hit the nail on the head."

"How is that possible?" Annette shook her head. She could not believe it.

"It's one man's instinct for another man."

He put away the file and said to her, "That's why I hate Austin so much. From now on, stay as far away from him as you can."

  Annette did not say anything.

She remembered what Austin had said to her today.

He asked her if she wanted to leave this place with him.

And she recalled the way he looked at her.

Connor put the paper bag aside and lay down. "Come here. Come into my arms."

Annette did not move. Connor immediately got up, hugged her, and pressed her down.

Annette turned to glare at him, but her gaze was not intimidating, but rather tender to Connor.

Connor smiled slyly, "I told you the truth so that you are aware of keeping Austin at arm's length. You don't have to think about it. It's not your business."

  Annette nodded.

It was not something she could have any control over, but she was indeed surprised.

At noon the next day, Annette ran into Judica while returning from the classroom to the office building.

Judica got out of the car and slammed the door.

When she saw Annette, she smiled disdainfully and then walked to Annette provocatively.

"I was wondering who it was. It turned out to be you. Annette, I guess I ought to stay away from scheming women like you."

"Ms. Crace, you're so modest. You can sell your friends down the river. I'm no match for you." Annette did not give way to Judica.

Judica was a little more vigilant. She asked nervously, "What do you mean?"

Annette smiled coldly and said, "Ms. Crace, you know very well, don't you? Tell me. If I told Jessica that you were the one who set her up, what would she do to you? By the way, you don't know, do you? Jessica is OK now."

Judica said, trying her best to stay calm, "I have no idea what you are talking about."

"It's fine. As long as Connor knows."

  "Alpha Connor?"

Annette laughed sarcastically and said, "You're lucky Connor and I both hate Jessica, or you'd be in trouble right now."

She glanced at Judica coldly and turned to leave.

It was easy to see what Judica was up to.

  Judica had feelings for Connor.

Whether helping Jessica against Annette or framing Jessica would do her good.

However, Judica's means were too vicious.

Jessica almost died because of Judica.

Although Annette hated Jessica, she would not approve of Judica's despicable methods.

The more Annette hated them, the more she wouldn't let herself become one of them.

Judica felt cold sweat all over her body.

She didn't go upstairs to see Darren. Instead, she turned around and got into the car.

With both hands on the steering wheel, she looked at Annette as she walked away, her gaze filled with anger.

Judica thought, 'Alpha Connor agreed to Dad's request and got me a nice position at the Calley Group.

Alpha Connor knows that it was I who did this to Jessica, and yet he never blames me.

Does this mean Alpha Connor doesn't hate me?

No. In Alpha Connor's position, if he simply didn't hate me, he wouldn't help me get a job.

In other words, it is most likely that Alpha Connor has a crush on me.'

Thinking of this, Judica grinned happily.

  She still stood a chance.

She thought, 'I only need to do one thing now. I should get Annette out of Alpha Connor's world.

I guess waiting for Annette to leave on her own is out of the question. What if Annette does something that upsets Alpha Connor, and he kicks her out?'

She opened the photo album on her phone and found a few photos.

She looked at the photos and figured that she shouldn't waste any more time. She had to make the move first.

She clicked on her address book, found a reporter's number, and called the reporter.

"Hello there. This is Judica Crace, Darren Crace's daughter. Do you remember me? I want to tell you something about Connor Norman's wife."
