Chapter 183
Chapter 183
On Monday, Annette finally returned to school.
The moment she showed up at the office, the three teachers were so excited that they almost gave her a salute.
Annette said that she had an upset stomach and took a few days off.
After Alanna and Eden left, Sara could not help but ask, "Annette, are you really OK?"
Annette thought about it and decided to tell Sara. She said, "Sara, I am pregnant."
Sara covered her mouth and said in surprise, "Congratulations!"
Annette whispered, "I don't want others to know about this. Can you help me keep this a secret for now?"
Sara nodded repeatedly. "Of course."
Annette sighed and said, "Actually, I'm not happy about it at all."
"Why? I'm sure Alpha Connor is thrilled."
Annette shrugged and said, "Things between me and the Blood Moon Pack are a bit messy. Well, no matter what, the baby is here anyway. I have no other choice but to accept it."
Sara looked at Annette's lower abdomen and said, "You'll be showing as days pass. You've got to think of a way as soon as possible."
Annette nodded. It was the most troublesome thing for her right now.
In the afternoon, because of Annette's return, Alanna suggested that everyone in the office should go to dinner together after work.
Annette took the initiative to invite everyone to a buffet.
When they got off work in the afternoon, the four went downstairs together.
At the entrance of the office building, they ran into Judica, who was going upstairs to see Darren.
Looking at Annette, Judica turned hostile.
Sara pulled Annette and quickened their pace.
Annette thought she could avoid confronting Judica, yet the latter was unwilling. Judica shouted, "Annette."
Judica quickly walked up to the four people and blocked Annette's way.
"I need to talk to you."
The other three teachers felt awkward.
Annette could only say, "Guys, wait for me over there."
Sara was a little worried. "Maybe I should stay here with you."
Judica said unhappily, "She is not Alpha Connor's mate yet. And you are already so eager to curry favor with her?"
Annette said in a stern voice, "Ms. Crace, watch your mouth."
"What is it? Am I wrong? Don't flatter yourself. The one they want to curry favor with is Alpha Connor."
Alanna hurriedly said, "Ms. Crace, your words might be a bit too harsh. Don't you think?"
"I am Darren's daughter. And you don't get to interrupt me."
"Judica," Annette called out her name seriously. Then Annette continued, "Please apologize."
Judica sneered, "Apologize? Why should I? You have Alpha Connor on your side, and that's why you're so arrogant to me."
"Judica, first of all, you need to understand that this is not about Connor. It makes me sick that you, as a well-educated person, can do nothing better than say such hateful things to hurt others. Second, your thoughts are filthy. Do you think anyone who makes friends with me is buttering me up? Alright then. I have a question for you. Your dad is the one who really tries to butter me up. So, what do you think of him?"
"What?" Judica raised her hand and pointed at Annette.
Annette raised her hand and swept Judica's hand away.
"I'm not OK with you talking to my friend like that, so please apologize now."
"No way!" Judica said angrily. "You are nothing but a poser. You don't get to tell me what to do. You lied to me from the beginning. You lied about your relationship with Alpha Connor, and you played me around. You're a wicked woman. If anyone should apologize, it's you."
"Why should I tell you about my relationship with Connor? For the last time, are you going to apologize or not?"
"No," Judica said loudly.
Annette clenched her fists and said, "Fine. You asked for this."
She took out her phone.
Judica mocked, "So? You can't beat me, so you want to tell Alpha Connor? Do you think I'm afraid of you?"
"You think too much. If I am bitten by a dog, do you think I'll bite back? So, I need to deal with the dog's owner."
Judica stepped forward and said angrily, "Are you calling me a dog?"
Sara hurriedly stood in front of Annette.
Sara knew Annette's secret, and she would protect Annette.
Judica pushed Sara over.
Sara turned around and said to Alanna and Eden, "Take Annette out of here first."
After Alanna and Sara exchanged glances, Sara went forward and pulled Annette away.
It just so happened that the number Annette dialed had been picked up.
She said, "Mr. Crace, your daughter insulted me and my colleagues at the gate of the office building and refused to apologize. I am very angry now. If you can handle it, please come here right now. If you can't, I'll contact Connor when I hang up with you. I won't swallow her insult."
"Just a moment, Annette. I'll be right down."
Soon, Darren came downstairs.
He told the crowd of employees to get on with their work, and then pulled Judica aside and said, "Judica, what are you doing?"
"I hate that woman, Annette. How can she be so arrogant at school? Just because Alpha Connor backs her up?"
"What are you talking about? Annette didn't do anything wrong."
Darren brought Judica to his side and whispered in her ear, "Judica, if this goes to Alpha Connor, you'll never get the job you want in Akron. Do you want to ruin your career because of Annette?"
His words immediately quieted Judica down.
Darren walked in front of Annette and said, "Annette, can we talk alone?"
"Before we do, Mr. Crace, I hope you can persuade your daughter to apologize to my colleagues first. What Ms. Crace said just now was terrible."
Darren was smart. He knew that he couldn't change Judica's mind, so he walked to Sara and the others and said, "It's also my fault that Judica was so mean today. I apologize on her behalf, and I hope you can bury the hatchet."
Alanna and Eden hurriedly said, "Darren, it's fine. Let's just forget about it."
Darren then walked over to Annette and said, "Annette, can I speak to you alone?"
Annette turned around and said to Sara, "Wait for me in front. I'll be right with you."
The three teachers left.
Darren pulled Annette to the side.
"Annette, it's Judica's fault today, and I promise you that I'm going to tell her off when I get back. Can you keep it from Alpha Connor?"
Annette smiled and looked at Darren, "For your sake, I won't tell Alpha Connor about what happened today. You're a good headmaster, Mr. Crace, but if you don't discipline your daughter, I'm afraid you'll be implicated by her sooner or later. If nothing else, I'm out of here. People are waiting for me."
Darren smiled at Annette and said, "Alright. I get your point."
