Chapter 176

　　Annette went upstairs to take a shower. Then, she lay on the bed and started reading.

　　About half an hour later, Connor came in.

　　He had taken a shower in the next room.

　　He sat down by the bed. Annette flipped a page without any reaction and seemed to be fascinated by it.

　　Connor got angry. Was the book more interesting than him?

　　He reached out to flip Annette over and pressed her down on the bed.

　　Annette cried out in alarm, "Connor!"

　　Connor kissed her lips.

　　Annette struggled hard and finally avoided his lips. She shouted, "Connor, what are you doing?"

　　Connor pinched her chin and tried to suppress his desire. "Didn't I tell you in the afternoon? I miss you."

　　"You kissed me like that just because you missed me? You are too unreasonable."

　　"How dare you talk reason with a man who only wants to sleep with you?" Connor lowered his head and kissed Annette again.

　　He slowly moved toward her neck.

　　Annette grabbed his hand and gasped. "Don't."

　　Connor frowned. He leaned close to her ear and said, "When are you going to let your guard down?"

　　Annette looked at him with watery eyes, still panting.

　　In fact, she had planned to give in.

　　However, every time she thought of Alina, she felt afraid.

　　Looking at her expression, Connor said, "Do you know what I want to do the most now?"

　　Annette only looked at him.

　　"I want you to drink a few glasses of wine."

　　"You..." Annette blushed.

　　Connor kissed her overbearingly.

　　Afraid that he would lose control, Annette kept pushing him.

　　He whispered in her ear, "Don't worry. I'll only kiss you."

　　They kissed for nearly ten minutes. Connor let go of her reluctantly and went to the bathroom.

　　After a long time, he finally went out. He lay on the bed as if nothing had happened and snorted coldly at Annette on purpose.

　　Annette turned to look at him and said, "I didn't offend you. Why are you looking at me like that?"

　　"You're gonna regret doing this to me so often," Connor said through gritted teeth.

　　Annette lowered her eyes and smiled. She continued to flip through her book.

　　Connor looked at her, his eyes filled with anticipation.

　　He thought, 'The relationship between her and me improves so slowly.

　　I have to do something to speed up.'

　　On Saturday, Roxanne was invited to Akron.

　　Annette accompanied her all the way.

　　They seemed to have returned to their time as students. They lay on the big bed of the hotel and had countless topics to talk about.

　　After lunch, they took a nap.

　　Annette was woken up by a phone call.

　　Seeing that it was Marcus calling, she unlocked her phone and asked, "Marcus?"

　　"Annette, are you taking a nap?"

　　"What's wrong?"

　　"Well, I have something to tell you. Don't be angry."

　　Annette was getting sober. She asked, "What is it? Did you do something wrong?"

　　As soon as she finished her words, there was another call on her phone.

　　Looking at the number, she was puzzled. "Why did Lucas call me at the same time?"

　　"Annette, don't pick it up."

　　On the other side of the line, Marcus shouted, "When I was fishing with Lucas, I accidentally told him that you are Lance's daughter, and he is now angry."

　　Annette felt nervous in an instant. She frowned and said, "What did Connor say?"

　　"Connor didn't pick up my call."

　　Annette said anxiously, "Didn't he go with you?"

　　"He didn't. He said he was busy."

　　Annette looked at the caller ID on the screen, frowning. "Alright, I got it. Don't worry about this. I'll handle it."

　　She hung up the phone and picked up Lucas' call.

　　Lucas' cold voice came through the phone.

　　"Ms. Hall, are you free? I want to talk to you in person."

　　"Okay. Where are we meeting?"

　　"ME Café. Tell the waiter about your name at the door, and he will bring you in."

　　Annette hung up the phone and woke Roxanne up.

　　"Roxanne, I have to go out to deal with something. I'm afraid I won't be able to come back later. Have a rest tonight and go back early tomorrow. I'll go to you in a few days."

　　Roxanne asked worriedly, "What's wrong? Anything happened?"

　　Annette smiled bitterly. "Yes. But, don't worry. I can handle it."

　　She got out of bed as she said.

　　Roxanne followed her to the door and said with worries, "You scared me. Is it a serious matter?"

　　Annette shook her head. "It's fine. Don't worry."

　　She left the hotel and took a taxi to the coffee shop that Lucas mentioned.

　　She told the waiter about her name, and he brought her to a table.

　　Half an hour later, Lucas also arrived.

　　He was pushed into the private room and asked the pack guards to leave the room.

　　Lucas looked at Annette with a cold expression. "I don't know how to address you."

　　Annette said, "Lucas, I will always be Annette Hall."

　　Lucas sneered. "Ms. Hall, may I ask what exactly you want to do?"

　　Annette said calmly, "I don't quite understand what you mean. I don't know if you can explain it more clearly."

　　Lucas mocked. "As Lance's illegitimate daughter, you know that there is a grudge between the Blood Moon Pack and the Black Thorn Pack, but you still want to seduce Connor. What do you want? Are you trying to prove how attractive the women of the Black Thorn Pack are to the men of the Blood Moon Pack?"

　　Annette remained composed. "Lucas, please mind your words. I have never seduced Connor. It was the Moon Goddess who arranged everything."

　　"Ms. Hall, I'm not here to joke with you. I just want you to leave Connor. Tell me what you want, so you will leave him."

　　Annette lowered her eyes and did not speak.

　　"Why do you keep silent? Ten million dollars? Or do you want the shares of the Norman Group?"

　　Annette said, "I don't want anything."

　　"You mean you won't leave Connor?"

　　If it was in the past, Annette might not have explained anything. But now, for some reason, she wanted to defend herself.

　　She said, "Lance and his family did not acknowledge my identity, and I have never stayed in the Black Thorn Pack. So, Lucas, I am not a member of the Black Thorn Pack."

　　Lucas said, "I don't care about that. I just want to ask you one question. You are Lance's daughter, aren't you?"

　　After a moment of silence, Annette nodded and said, "Yes."

　　Lucas added, "Lance became the Alpha of the Black Thorn Pack after he became Leslie's mate. He is a member of the Black Thorn Pack, and so are you. The Black Thorn Pack owned Blood Moon Pack for someone's life. It is impossible for you and Connor to be together."

　　What?
