Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Connor did not stay in the Blood Moon Pack for long. After being briefed by Beta about the recent issues with the pack, he brought Annette back to his villa.
"Dwayne, to Leonard to pick up Ms. Hall every day," Connor ordered Dwayne.
"Mr. Norman, my injury is not that serious. There's no need to bother Leonard. And..."
"You sprained your ankle because you accompanied me to the banquet. I should be responsible for it. Dwayne, take care of Ms. Hall."
After Connor finished speaking, he left her room.
Dwayne said respectfully, "Yes, Alpha Connor."
The next day, Leonard sent Annette to the university.
As soon as she got out of the car, she saw Austin and his fancy sports car at the school gate.
Austin ignored the gazes from others and walked to Annette.
Annette looked away. She took the crutches that Leonard handed over.
"Leonard, you should go back. I can walk from here."
Leonard got into the car and left. Austin came over.
Looking at the bandage on her foot, he was very worried. "Ann, what happened to your foot?"
"I took a fall." Her expression was calm.
"Does it hurt?" He bent down and was about to check her ankle. Then, she turned her body to the other side.
"No."
She was so distant, so he stood up and looked at her. "Are you still mad at me?"
Annette lowered her eyes. "What's there to be mad about?"
Austin sighed and grabbed her shoulders. "Ann, I know that my words were harsh yesterday. Seeing you leave so angrily upsets me a lot. You are like my sister, and you are very important to me. Do you know that?"
Annette felt bad, looking at his sad face.
After all, Austin was the only one who thought of her as his family in the Black Thorn Pack.
Just as she was about to say something, her phone rang.
She took out her phone from her bag and glanced at the screen.
It was an unknown incoming call. The number looked familiar.
She glanced at Austin, turned around, and picked up the phone. "Hello."
"I will meet you today, be prepared."
"Sir, you dialed the wrong number. Who is this?"
"Annette Fisher!" the man shouted. "How dare you talk to me like that?"
Annette clenched her fists. "No. My name is Annette Hall. Back then, when my mother wanted to name me Annette Fisher, it was you, Mr. Fisher, who was strongly against it. And please don't call me again and disturb my life. Goodbye."
After she finished speaking, she hung up.
Austin looked at her. He asked worriedly, "Was it, Dad?"
Annette said coldly, "I don't have a Dad. Don't ever say that I am your sister, and don't come to me again. From now on, I don't want anything to do with Black Thorn Pack anymore."
Austin watched Annette leave stubbornly. He knew that she was furious.
No words could help her feel better until she was calmer.
He sighed, stood there, and watched her enter the building.
Annette was listless all day.
Kyle heard that Annette came to the university with crutches. At noon, he searched all over the campus for her and finally found her reading a book under the stone steps beside the playground.
From a distance, Kyle felt as if he had seen the same Annette as in the past.
Whenever they had a date, she would always arrive early, waiting for him while studying.
And he would always prepare the snacks she liked and run to her.
He was trying to catch up with his breath since he had been running. He slowly walked to her and sat down opposite her.
She looked up at him.
He was looking at her ankle. He frowned and asked, "Why were you so careless?"
He was going to touch her ankle, but she moved her legs away.
"Annette, let's make peace, shall we? I don't want to go on like this anymore. Without you, my life would be meaningless. I swear I will never, ever betray you again. I will be nothing but good to you."
Annette looked at his affectionate and sad eyes and kept silent for a long time.
Kyle leaned forward and half-knelt in front of Annette, holding her hands.
"Annette, don't give up on me. We are mates. You said we were tied by the Moon Goddess. Let's not give up on each other, OK?" Kyle pleaded.
"I slept with someone else." She looked at him calmly.
"You are just trying to piss me off. Annette, I know you. You won't do such a thing."
"It's true. The day I caught you and Lena in bed, I slept with another man," she smiled and said. "Though I regret having avenged you in this way, I am glad at this moment. Because I will never go back to you after that. So, no matter how sad you appear to be right now, I can't go back whatsoever."
"Annette," Kyle gritted his teeth and said. "Don't be like this."
"You don't have to take my word for it, but every word I'm saying now is true. Kyle, I'll leave you alone, and I hope you do the same," Annette said.
Kyle had doubts in his eyes.
He did not believe that she would do so.
However, she didn't look like she was lying.
Kyle stood up and looked down at her. "Is what you said true?"
"Don't you know? Didn't you feel any pain that night?" Annette pointed to Kyle's heart and said, "The teacher said that when your mate cheats on you, you will feel pain."
Kyle was surprised. "I thought I felt hurt since you turned me down. Annette, I didn't realize you would sleep with another man!"
Kyle left in rage.
Annette felt desperate.
She thought, 'Anyway, I'm already at the bottom. At least my life can't get any worse.'
After finishing her classes in the afternoon, she left the university on crutches.
When Annette reached the gate, she saw Leonard parked not far from her. Just as she was about to go over, she was blocked by a black car that suddenly stopped at the gate.
Two men got out of the car, picked her up, pushed her into the car, and drove away.
