Chapter 161

　　Connor wrapped his arms around Annette's waist and went to Darren's office. Darren was stunned for seconds before he stuttered, "Alpha Connor, what a surprise. Is there anything I can do for you?"

　　"Yes. I'm here to get even with you."

　　Darren thought for a moment. "Alpha Connor. I don't quite understand what you mean. Please enlighten me."

　　Connor smiled, "You saw me come with Annette. Don't you understand what I mean? Mr. Crace, it seems that you are not as smart as I thought. I shouldn't have trusted you that much and let you take care of Annette."

　　Mr. Crace glanced at Annette, his eyes filled with endless awkwardness.

　　Annette pulled Connor.

　　Connor acted as if nothing had happened and patted her hand calmly. He raised his eyebrows and said to Darren, "So? You still don't understand why I am here?"

　　Darren looked at Annette. He was not stupid and figured out the reason.

　　He was just confused and wondered, 'Isn't Annette Marcus' mate? Why is she with Alpha Connor?

　　Was I mistaken?'

　　A moment later, Darren said, "Annette, I made you take responsibility for the rumors before I figured out the truth. I'm sorry and I shouldn't have done that."

　　Annette was a reasonable person. All she wanted was just an apology from Darren.

　　The police had clarified everything after the incident, but Darren did not intend to say anything to her.

I felt wronged, so I was a bit aggressive that day. I apologize for my bad attitude as well."

　　Annette took a deep breath and thought of her promise. "Should I resign now?"

　　Connor patted Annette on the shoulder and said, "Go back to your office. I will wait for you at the school gate and go home with you later."

　　She bowed to Darren politely and then turned to leave.

　　As soon as she left, Connor turned around and sat down on the sofa.

　　Darren said respectfully, "Alpha Connor, I didn't know that Ms. Hall was your mate."

　　"I know. You thought she was Marcus' mate."

　　"That's right."

　　Connor looked at Darren with a fierce look and said, "So, she was Marcus' mate, and you thought you could bully her?"

　　"No, I didn't mean that. I was anxious that day, and it was all my fault. Alpha Connor, don't worry. If anything happens to Annette in school, I will take responsibility for it and will never let her suffer." Darren expressed his attitude eagerly.

　　Connor stared at Darren with cold eyes and said, "I brought Annette here today for two purposes. Listen carefully."

　　"Alpha Connor, please."

　　"First, don't try to get your daughter and me together again. You don't want me to attack her with vicious words, do you?"
