His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 159

Chapter 159

Annette was furious. "It has nothing to do with Marcus. Don't implicate him. Also, I am not in a relationship with Marcus as others say. I would rather resign than apologize in public. I will never let go of the person who hurt and slandered me. Even if I resign, I will wait until the police find out the truth."

"It is not up to you. How many times do you need me to repeat it? I am the president!" Darren was infuriated by Annette's attitude.

Annette frowned. It seemed that Darren would not let her work at the university anymore.

"As far as I know, you became the president of Werewolf University with the help of Alpha Connor. Did you forget the only thing that Alpha Connor instructed you to do before you took office?"

Only then did Darren recall that Connor had asked him to take good care of Annette.

However, that day, Connor was clearly not satisfied with Annette. Darren thought that he didn't need to take care of her any longer.

Darren didn't like being threatened. He sneered. "I have the final say in Werewolf University. Annette, I am the president. If I want to dismiss you, you have to leave."

Annette clenched her fists and said, "If I am fired because of my mistakes at work, I will leave without complaints. But I didn't make a single mistake. I won't leave."

She took out her phone and dialed Connor's number.

Connor picked up the phone quickly. Annette took a deep breath and said, "Connor, something happened to me at school."

"I heard it from Marcus. You did very well. Calling the police is a good choice."

  "There is still something else."

  "What is it?"

"Darren said that the reputation of Werewolf University has been damaged because of me. If I don't apologize in public, he will fire me."

"Did Darren say so in person?" Connor's tone changed.

Annette nodded and replied, "Yes. I am in Darren's office right now."

"I understand. You don't have to say more. Give the phone to Darren."

Annette walked to Darren and said, "It's Alpha Connor."

Darren was a little surprised. He did not expect her to be able to contact Connor directly.

He took the phone with a cold face and said, "Hello, Alpha Connor."

"Darren, I heard about Annette. I asked you to take care of her, but you wanted to fire her. Are you trying to go against me?"

"Alpha Connor, there are so many rumors about Annette in the school. The students and teachers are all affected. Even the parents of the students came to urge me to deal with this matter," Darren complained.

"That's your problem. When something happens, you blame the victim. If you can't manage a school well, plenty of people can," Connor said angrily.

Darren knew that the person he could not offend the most in Akron was Connor.

Although he was angry, he could not show it. He said, "Alpha Connor, I understand what you meant. Don't worry. I won't let Annette suffer from it."

He handed the phone back to Annette.

Annette said a few more words to Connor before hanging up the phone.

"Annette, what is the relationship between you and Alpha Connor?" Darren looked at Annette doubtfully.

Annette put her phone back into her pocket. "It is not important. I only have one purpose. I want to do my best to work hard in my position."

She looked up at Darren and said, "I know you are angry about what happened today. I am disappointed in you. If I were just an ordinary student instructor, I would probably be fired today. In my opinion, the person who destroyed the honor of the school is not me, but you."

Darren frowned. Except for Annette, no one dared to talk to him like this.

He had thought that he could get benefits from Connor because of Annette.

But now, he suddenly felt that a double-edged blade was pointing at his throat.

She could help him get rid of obstacles, but she could also be his obstacle.

"Since Alpha Connor spoke up for you, I won't fire you. But Annette, you must care more about your reputation."

"If the police can prove my innocence, you have to apologize to me. I am not wrong, and I have no reason to bear your humiliation."

With that, Annette bowed to Darren and left his office.

She took a deep breath after walking out. This time, it was thanks to Connor's help.

Because of Connor's involvement, the police were focused on Annette's case.

The rumors in the school had never stopped while the police advanced the investigation.

Two days later, there was finally good news.

The police checked all the information on the Internet and finally found the IP.

They mentioned Lena's name. Although Annette was a little sad, she did not show much on her face.

After receiving the notice from the police, she took a taxi to the police station. Lena was being investigated there.

A middle-aged man in a suit stood next to Lena. Seeing Annette come in, he walked to her and said, "Hello, Ms. Hall. I am a lawyer from the Norman Group. I will take the full authority to deal with your case and protect your reputation."

Annette said, "Nice to see you. Did Mr. Norman send you here?"

  "Yes."

  "Thanks for your help."

"Ms. Hall, it'll be my pleasure."

Lena turned to look at Annette when she heard Annette's voice.

There was a fierce look in her eyes. "Annette, I did that. I dare to admit it, but why did you call the police to arrest me? The photos I posted are all real and have not been edited."

Annette raised her eyebrows. "You said that my private life was messy and that I hooked up with those rich people. Is it true? It is only your guess! You slandered me and ruined my reputation, and you want to get away easily? Lena, you are too naïve."

Annette didn't intend to let Lena go. She continued, "Lena, do you have evidence to prove your words? If not, you are making a rumor and have to take legal responsibility."

"Do you dare to say that nothing happened between you and those men?" Lena raised her chin and mocked. "You are so slutty every time you meet a man. Do you think you can hide it from me?"

The lawyer reprimanded, "Please mind your words. You are attacking my client."

Lena glanced at the lawyer and then at Annette.

Annette smiled, "What about you? You even had sex with your friend's boyfriend. You are talking to this male police officer. If talking to a man is slutty, then you shouldn't talk to him."
