Chapter 112
Chapter 112
On the bus, Annette's phone rang.
She picked it up and said, "Mr. Crace, what can I do for you?"
"I asked Alpha Connor out for a meal. Please come and join us."
"You two may have important things to talk about. I guess I shouldn't be there," Annette refused.
Darren laughed heartily. "You have to come. Alpha Connor agreed to have a meal with me because of you. How about this? I'll send my secretary to your office to pick you up."
"There's no need, Mr. Crace. I took my students out for a basketball match. Just tell me the address, and I'll go there."
"Okay, I'll get someone to send you the address later."
After hanging up the phone, Annette took a deep breath. She got off the bus at the station. When she was waiting for Darren's message, she called Connor.
"Did Mr. Crace ask you out?"
"Yes. I am just about to set off. Why did you agree to go out for a meal with him?"
Annette asked in surprise, "Weren't you the first to agree?"
Hearing Annette's question, Connor smiled. Darren was indeed a cunning guy.
"I'll pick you up later."
"I'll get there myself. A few days ago, Mr. Crace asked me about the relationship between you and me. I told him that I was Marcus' tutor. So, don't talk nonsense in front of him later."
Connor smiled evilly. "Is this an order?"
"It is a request." Annette added in her heart, 'I won't dare to order you.'
"OK, I agree. But, remember you owe me one," Connor said.
Annette smiled resignedly, "Got it. Just don't blow it."
She hung up the phone and received a text message.
According to the address in the text message, she took a taxi to Starry Restaurant.
Those without a membership card weren't allowed to enter, so Annette waited at the door for a while.
A few minutes later, Darren's car arrived.
Seeing Annette standing at the entrance in sportswear, Darren frowned and said, "Annette, you should dress up."
Annette looked down at her clothes and said, "Sorry, I got here from the stadium."
"We're going to see Alpha Connor later. You don't even go back and change your clothes."
As Darren spoke, Connor's car arrived.
Darren walked toward Connor and shook hands with him warmly. "Alpha Connor. Welcome."
After Connor shook hands with Darren, he glanced at Annette's face.
Annette was a little nervous. She said in a low voice, "Alpha Connor. Nice to meet you."
Connor smiled and nodded. Annette breathed a sigh of relief.
Darren said, "Alpha Connor, let's go."
In the private room, Darren said, "Alpha Connor, Annette just came back from the stadium and did not have the time to go back to change clothes. I hope you won't mind it."
Connor looked at Annette and smiled, "It's fine. I've seen her dress more casually before."
Darren was a little confused. He looked at Annette for a while and then at Connor.
Annette was nervous.
Noticing Annette's frightened expression, Connor laughed in his heart. He said calmly, "Before, when she was still Marcus' tutor, she dressed more casually than today."
Annette was instantly relieved.
Darren laughed. "It seems that Annette is a laid-back person."
Annette smiled. She was not laid-back but just poor.
The waiter brought the menu over, and Darren handed it to Connor.
Connor handed the menu to Annette. "Ladies first."
Annette frowned and thought, 'Is he messing with me?'
She said seriously, "Alpha Connor, I have never been to such an exclusive restaurant before. I'm afraid that the dishes I order will not suit your taste."
Darren was a little nervous. He stood up and took the menu. "Alpha Connor, shall I order?"
It was obvious that Darren was prudent in front of Connor.
Connor made an inviting gesture with his hand.
Darren began to read the menu and ordered dishes.
Under the table, Connor groped forward with his foot and reached Annette's foot.
Annette retracted her foot nervously.
Connor was amused in his heart, but he was still chatting with Darren calmly.
Hearing the conversation between them, Annette was a little puzzled. Darren was older than Connor, yet he seemed to be trying to curry favor with Connor.
Connor's attitude toward Darren was completely different from his attitude toward her.
Connor looked at Darren and said, "Mr. Crace, you have something to tell me, right?"
"I wanted to take the opportunity to express my gratitude. Alpha Connor, thank you for recommending me to be the president."
"If that's the case, Mr. Crace, you are welcome."
"In addition, I did meet some difficulties. Alpha Connor, I would like to ask for your help," Darren said.
"Go ahead."
"When Fiona was in charge, she planned to build a new dormitory for students. However, the Finance Department checked the project and said that the revenue of the school couldn't cover the costs. I want to continue the project, but as for the funds..."
Connor took a sip of red wine and said, "So, Mr. Crace, you brought the most beautiful female teacher over and wanted to negotiate with me?"
Darren was embarrassed. "Alpha Connor, you are a wise man, and I need your suggestions. Annette, what do you think?"
Annette hesitated for a moment. It was obvious that Darren's purpose today was to ask Connor for money.
If she echoed Darren, she would be helping him ask for money.
Annette looked at Darren and said, "Mr. Crace, I am just a student instructor. I don't know much about the management of the school. As for the funds, most of them are used by the leaders for reimbursement of various expenses instead of the projects for students."
Annette's words made Darren embarrassed.
"I have just become the president. I know little about the specific expenses. I think it is necessary to investigate it."
Connor's eyes were sharp. He lowered his head and took another sip of his wine.
