Chapter 202: A Job to Live Is Easy to Find, but Food to Love Is Not

Chapter 202: A Job to Live Is Easy to Find, but Food to Love Is Not

What seemed like a huge deal to her was a trivial matter in her roommate’s eyes.

If things had already gotten to this point, then just get a new job!

...

She slept for a whole night, a night filled entirely with dreams.

In her dreams, Gugu Pork, roast duck, rice noodle rolls, dumplings, and juice all bid her a cruel farewell.

The moment Zhou Zhou crawled out of bed, she opened her terminal to check the job listings. Her eyes slid all the way to the bottom, to the positions with low requirements. She looked through them one by one and was surprised to find quite a few that she qualified for!

’Oh my god! I’m actually wanted somewhere!’

’Yesterday’s misery ends here! Today is for being happy!’

’So what if I change jobs? It just means earning a few less Star Coins. Good food must not be forsaken!’

After taking a Hovercar to the company, Zhou Zhou didn’t go to her desk. She headed straight for the team lead’s office.

She was going to quit. She entered the ascending elevator with her head down, only to find it was packed with people.

’Why are there so many people?!’

She looked up—

Oh, crap.

New hires, veterans, men, and women.

"What are you all doing heading to the team lead’s office so early?"

The attractive young men and women blinked. "What are *you* here for?"

"Umm..."

"Umm..."

Whispers rustled through the elevator. Zhou Zhou let out a couple of awkward laughs. "I’m here to quit. You can’t all be here to quit, right?"

The entire elevator fell silent.

Every face turned to look at the others in bewilderment.

Then, everyone said in unison, "You’re all here to quit!?"

And again, in unison, "Why quit all of a sudden!?"

It was so synchronized it was as if they had rehearsed it.

"You... you all don’t want to work here anymore either?" ’How can this be such a coincidence?’

"Yeah, it’s so annoying." A young woman who had just joined rolled her eyes. "Why do we always have to troll someone who’s basically immune to trolling? We spend all day giving them more followers, and they still call us a water army. This job is so embarrassing."

"And my ID got banned!!!" The young woman shrieked, tearing at her hair. "That’s what I live on every day! How am I supposed to keep doing this job?"

Her words instantly sparked a chorus of agreement. "Yeah, yeah, it’s so annoying! My ID got banned, and I was just going to grit my teeth and make a new one, but then they told me we have to do it again today. Ptooey! The money I make isn’t even enough to buy a new terminal."

"Exactly!" Zhou Zhou felt a deep sense of camaraderie and couldn’t help but chime in.

As they spoke, they reached the top floor.

At first, everyone had been a little embarrassed about coming to quit. But after talking it over, they suddenly felt righteously indignant.

Cutting someone off from their hobby is like strangling them.

With fate grabbing you by the scruff of the neck, how could you possibly work in peace?

However, when they arrived at the office door, they were surprised to find they weren’t the first wave of people.

And perhaps not even the second.

They brushed past a group of pretty girls on their way out. The team lead’s office door hadn’t closed yet. When he saw Zhou Zhou’s group, his expression flickered. "You’re here to quit, too?"

Everyone nodded mechanically.

"..."

The team lead’s face was grim. "Reason for quitting?"

Before the group could make a sound, the team lead added, "Is it because trolling a certain food blogger got your terminals banned and now you can’t get your food fix?"

Everyone nodded mechanically again.

And so, Zhou Zhou and the others had their resignations rejected.

The team lead said, "This is a really good job. Think it over. You’re all young, the backbone of this studio. Go look around—where else can you find a job that pays as well as we do?"

"For now, go downstairs and finish today’s work. Even if you’re really going to quit, you have to wait until the studio has hired replacements and you’ve completed the handover."

And just like that, her resignation attempt failed.
