Her Food Livestream Broke the Galaxy

Chapter 201: Zhou Zhou’s Tough Night

Chapter 201: Zhou Zhou’s Tough Night

Zhou Zhou was tired.

Zhou Zhou was hungry.

Zhou Zhou was craving.

Zhou Zhou was miserable. And to top it all off, Zhou Zhou was also poor.

As a young woman of the new interstellar era, Zhou Zhou was a university graduate. But her major wasn’t in high demand, and she lacked a strong drive to succeed. So after graduation, she put her talents to use by joining Qingshan Green Water Studio. She became a professional hater—a job that wasn’t exactly glorious, but it paid the bills.

Life was originally uneventful (at least she was alive). Then, during work, she happened to stumble upon Jiang Qiuqiu.

It was an explosive connection, like a lightning strike setting the ground ablaze, like her dark night encountering a sunlit sky—

But the client’s word was law. All she could do was shout in the livestream, "This dish definitely tastes awful!" and then return to her rented apartment to rave to her numerous roommates, "It’s sooooo good!"

It went against her conscience, but hey, it made her money.

The studio’s internet was fast and reliable, its terminals were expensive and ran like a dream, the sensory simulation was incredible, and they even reimbursed purchases made during Jiang Qiuqiu’s livestreams.

With perks like these, Zhou Zhou was starting to actually like her job.

Until—

"Apologies~ Your ID has been banned and you are unable to participate in the giveaway. Ban duration—"

One hundred years.

As everyone knew, an ID was tied to a terminal. Getting banned meant that as long as she used the company’s terminal, she would never be able to enter Jiang Qiuqiu’s livestream and taste the food again.

’Maybe I could secretly bring in a different terminal?’

But just before the end of the workday, her group leader held a small meeting, announcing that tomorrow they would discuss their strategy and prepare for another wave of hate comments.

The meeting hadn’t even finished when Jiang Qiuqiu’s food-tasting special came to an end. Afterward, Jiang Qiuqiu posted a ban notice on her livestream’s main page—

"Effective immediately, Juju Studio will restrict giveaway eligibility for any ID found to be posting inappropriate remarks or attempting to sow discord among fans. Once an ID is banned, the ban will be permanent."

Her supervisor’s incessant chatter still echoed in her ears.

Something about this being the first time the studio had run into such a tough nut to crack, that they had to show their true abilities, make a statement, and not tarnish the studio’s name.

All that talk about hustling for a two-thousand-Star-Coin bonus—Zhou Zhou tuned out every useless word.

’It’s over. She’s really starting to ban IDs. How can Juju be so ruthless! Waaah, even if I use a different terminal, I’ll just get banned again if I keep posting hate comments.’

After she was done feeling sorry for herself, Zhou Zhou started silently cursing Li Ran.

’Does that client have water for brains? The whole operation has turned into a complete disaster, and they’re still willing to give the studio money? Shouldn’t they have had a huge falling out with us by now?!’

However, no matter how much she raged internally, nothing was going to change.

「That night.」

There was no sweet juice, no fresh dumplings, no spicy and sour fish to go with her meal tonight. Zhou Zhou hugged her knees, closed her eyes, and downed the Nutrient Liquid in one gulp.

BLECH.

...

She wished she’d never been born with a mouth.

She was still thinking about the livestream and her terminal. When she returned to her rented apartment today, her roommates were all eating. Their reflexes were slow and they weren’t quick enough on the draw, so they usually couldn’t snag one of the tasting slots during livestreams.

Today had been a rare open-slot event, so all of her roommates had chosen their favorite dishes. The best thing about the virtual food data was that it could be stored for three to five days. They were all planning to enjoy a meal today, another tomorrow, and a fantastic one the day after that.

Seeing Zhou Zhou return looking completely dejected, her roommates invited her to eat with them.

She thought about how she’d never be able to snag a slot again and wouldn’t be able to return the favor, so she refused.

One of her roommates replied, "Oh, that’s right! We forgot you work at a Star Network studio. You’ve probably tasted all of these already, haven’t you~"

She whimpered that she hadn’t, earning surprised looks from her roommates.

She explained what had happened. "It’s awful," she said. "What am I going to do?"
