He’s so Flirty

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Chapter 3 BeastQin Qing stared blankly as Wen Yufeng walked towards her.

It wasn’t until he was less than two meters away that Qin Qing suddenly snapped out of it, letting out a soft “Ah” and taking a step back, feeling guilty.

——

She had thought she would never see him again, so why had they run into each other?

Fu Hanlin watched Wen Yufeng with a dangerous look. Even though Wen Yufeng hadn’t glanced at him at all since he appeared, Fu Hanlin felt extremely threatened by the man’s handsome face and the sharpness hidden within his lazy demeanor.

“Qin Qing, do you know him?”

Fu Hanlin asked the girl standing in front of him.

Qin Qing instinctively shook her head, hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

The small hairpin on the side of her head sparkled as it moved up and down, making Wen Yufeng’s mind spin slightly.

After a moment, his thin lips curved into a lazy, teasing smile as he spoke—

“What should you be calling me again?”

“…”

Qin Qing blinked slowly, then bowed, understandingly, “Hello, senior—”

Wen Yufeng clicked his tongue lightly and reached out his hand.

Before Qin Qing could straighten up, she felt a tight grip on her shoulder, followed by a few seconds of spinning dizziness. When she lifted her dazed eyes, she realized she was being held in someone’s arms, facing a grim-faced Fu Hanlin.

A pleasant voice vibrated gently against her head as it rested against a chest, carrying a hint of a smirk.

“This is my sister.”

Wen Yufeng raised an eyebrow and glanced casually at Fu Hanlin, though his gaze was icy to the core in that moment.

“Do you have the guts of a bear or a leopard… to dare make a move on her?”

It sounded like a joke, not serious at all, but Fu Hanlin instinctively felt a chill down his spine under those dark eyes.

… As if he was being stared at by some wild beast.

Fu Hanlin wanted to respond with some tough words, but standing in front of this guy who was at least ten centimeters taller, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything.

In the end, Fu Hanlin could only glance at Qin Qing with a complex expression, sidestep the two of them, and walk away.

It wasn’t until Wen Yufeng removed his hand from Qin Qing’s shoulder that she finally snapped back to her senses, her big, bright eyes widening slightly, like a startled deer.

She turned to look at Wen Yufeng with an innocent expression, her eyelashes fluttering.

“… Thank you, senior.”

Wen Yufeng lowered his eyes, lazily looking down at her.

“Who taught you to reject a confession with the excuse ‘You’re still young’? What if he got angry and embarrassed?”

Qin Qing looked up with a gaze full of genuine curiosity and eagerness to learn: “What should I do?”

“…”

Wen Yufeng stared at Qin Qing for two seconds, then couldn’t help but laugh. He turned his head, half helpless, half amused, clicking his tongue again.

The boy’s sharply defined side profile and dazzlingly attractive smile made Qin Qing freeze for a moment.

Wen Yufeng then looked back at her, his dark eyes still holding a hint of a smile as they met her gaze.

The emotions in the girl’s eyes were so pure and clear, like a pool of crystal-clear water, so transparent that one could see right to the bottom.

Wen Yufeng felt a tug at his heartstrings and, as if under some kind of spell, he gently squinted his eyes.

“How old are you?”

Qin Qing instinctively replied in a soft voice, “Fifteen.”

After answering, Qin Qing curiously asked, “Why?”

“…”

Wen Yufeng quickly averted his gaze as if burned by the girl’s innocent eyes, his thoughts becoming clear again.

“…I’ve lost my mind.”

He lowered his eyes, half smiling, half serious, as he glanced at Qin Qing.

“You’re still just a child. What are you doing in a place like this?”

Qin Qing felt that in the brief moment between those two sentences, the way he looked at her seemed to change.

It seemed… more distant?

Qin Qing couldn’t figure out the key point, but because this person had helped her twice, she instinctively felt less guarded around him. This kind of harmless question didn’t seem worth hiding.

“My classmates are throwing me a farewell party,” she said, pursing her lips, her gaze innocent and clear. “It’s my first time here.”

“…Go home after it ends.”

Wen Yufeng turned to leave, but before he did, he couldn’t resist raising his hand to pat the top of the girl’s head.

Her chestnut-colored hair was as soft as he had imagined, so soft that he was reluctant to pull his hand away.

For the first time in her life, having someone other than an elder pat her head left Qin Qing momentarily stunned, her eyes widening slightly as she looked at Wen Yufeng.

But Wen Yufeng had already turned and walked away.

All that was left behind was his lazy, playful voice—

“Next time you see me at school, remember to turn around and run… I’m not a good senior.”

After standing there for a while, Qin Qing faced the now empty corridor and softly muttered, “Oh.”

…………

As soon as the weekend ended, Qin Qing started her first day at Yishi High School.

That morning, Li Jinghe, who rarely had the time, offered to drive Qin Qing to school. Since Qin Qing hadn’t yet moved to Fulin Garden, the drive was a bit longer, so they set off early.

“Xiao Qing, do you have any thoughts about your academic progress?” Li Jinghe asked casually as they waited at the first traffic light.

Qin Qing, still feeling a bit uneasy about going to a new school and new class, answered without much thought after hearing the question.

“The courses in ninth grade are pretty easy; I don’t feel much pressure this semester.”

“Yes, I heard that from your former homeroom teacher,” Li Jinghe responded. “While other students had their desks cluttered with books during class, yours was always neat and tidy.”

Hearing this made Qin Qing feel a bit uneasy. She couldn’t help but glance sideways at Li Jinghe to gauge her expression. Seeing a somewhat gentle look on her face, Qin Qing relaxed a bit.

Her eyes brightened a little as she said, “That’s because I keep it all in my head.”

“…”

Li Jinghe glanced at Qin Qing with a meaningful look. “I also heard that while others were anxiously cramming for the high school entrance exams, you were writing a novel in math class, and the math teacher tore it up?”

At this, Qin Qing’s face turned pale, and she turned to face her mother. “Mom, I won’t do it again—”

“I’m not blaming you,” Li Jinghe interrupted her. “And I can understand. The teachers mentioned that your approach to studying in ninth grade seemed no different from just coming to school for fun, yet despite that, you still scored full marks on every math exam, and almost the same in physics and chemistry… Plus, during the review phase, there really wasn’t much new knowledge the teachers could teach you.”

Li Jinghe’s calm tone left Qin Qing feeling uneasy. She slightly moved her lips but ultimately said nothing.

“And I also know that you recently borrowed Qin Hao’s books and self-studied first-year high school math and physics. So, after carefully considering your situation and discussing it with Director Sun Xing, we both believe that you actually have the ability to complete the rest of the first-year high school curriculum during the summer after you graduate from junior high. Afterward, as long as you pass the assessment exams, you can skip a grade and directly enter the second year.”

“…”

Qin Qing slowly clenched her hands, lowering her head. “Mom, I wanted to spend the summer with my classmates…”

She hadn’t even finished speaking when Li Jinghe frowned in displeasure.

“What have I always told you? Every stage of life has its tasks. The student stage is meant for studying. If you miss this golden period, you’ll regret it later, and it will be too late.”

Li Jinghe glanced at her, noticing that Qin Qing had her head lowered, her expression unreadable. Her tone softened a bit.

“When you’re no longer a student, you can arrange your own time however you like. What’s stopping you from going wherever you want then? … I’ve already discussed this with Director Sun Xing. He fully supports it and wants to help you develop your potential. You can’t let down the expectations that your father, your teachers, and I have for you.”

The car was silent for a long time.

Eventually, the hands tightly clutching her plaid skirt slowly relaxed, and the girl looked out the window.

Two students not in uniform ran past the car window, laughing and chasing each other.

“…Okay, I understand,” Qin Qing said softly, looking at the quiet and obedient girl reflected in the car window.

………

A little over a month before the high school entrance exams, a new student transferred into Class 3 of the ninth grade at Yishi High School.

The new student was beautiful, quiet, and adorable in her behavior, with hardly any flaws that the other students could pick out.

Many students, especially the boys, were eager to find an opportunity to befriend the new student—unfortunately, she was so reserved that she rarely initiated conversation, leaving many feeling frustrated in their attempts.

Just a few days after her transfer, the final monthly exam of the ninth grade ended.

On the day the results were announced, the classmates finally discovered the new student’s biggest flaw—

She was too good at studying.

… So good that it made people want to curse.

Staring at the top of the grade rankings, where the name “Qin Qing” was written at the far left of the first row, students from other classes couldn’t help but question—

Who was this transfer student who had never appeared in the top twenty before but now aced all three subjects—math, physics, and chemistry?

It didn’t take a day for Qin Qing’s name and background to spread throughout the entire ninth grade.

That afternoon, before the self-study class began, students from other classes, who had some free time, came to see her for themselves, only to find her absent.

“Where’s that new student in your class?” someone asked, leaning on the door frame of Class 3.

“The homeroom teacher just called her out.”

“…”

At that moment, Qin Qing was following her new homeroom teacher through the corridors of the high school building.

“This is the math group’s office for the first-year high school classes.”

At the end of the corridor, the homeroom teacher pointed to the nearest door and explained, “Director Sun has already spoken with Teacher Fu, who teaches first-year math. If you encounter any problems during your self-study of first-year math, you can come to Teacher Fu for help during your self-study periods.”

“…Okay,” Qin Qing nodded.

The homeroom teacher gave her a satisfied glance, then knocked on the door and said to Qin Qing as he pushed it open. “Come in, I’ll introduce you to Teacher Fu.”

Qin Qing followed her homeroom teacher inside.

“Teacher Fu,” the homeroom teacher called out to the male teacher sitting at the desk by the window, “I’ve brought the student from our class over to see you.”

Qin Qing looked up.

Teacher Fu seemed a bit displeased, his eyebrows tightly furrowed. It was only after hearing the homeroom teacher’s words that he looked up, his expression relaxing a bit.

“Ah, Teacher Lin.”

Fu Zhengnan glanced at Qin Qing’s homeroom teacher over the top of his glasses. “Director Sun mentioned that Yishi has recruited a promising student this year…”

As he spoke, his gaze landed on Qin Qing and paused, as if taken aback. “…Is it this little girl?”

“Yes, that’s her—Qin Qing.”

Teacher Lin smiled and nodded, gently guiding Qin Qing forward by her shoulder.

Several other teachers in the office glanced over. Qin Qing’s face flushed slightly, and she nervously clasped her fingers as she bowed to Fu Zhengnan.

“Hello, Teacher Fu.”

Her soft, sweet voice, combined with her obedient and quiet demeanor, naturally put people at ease.

It took Fu Zhengnan a moment to snap out of it, and he nodded.

“From what Director Sun said, should we start with a simple test to check her basic skills?”

“A first-year test should suffice. She has no issues with the junior high material.”

Teacher Lin responded and looked at Qin Qing. “The monthly exam results just came out, and she scored full marks in math, physics, and chemistry, topping the grade overall.”

“Wow, that’s impressive,” a female teacher in the corner of the office remarked.

But Fu Zhengnan wasn’t quick to comment. Instead, he asked, “How about her work ethic?”

Teacher Lin knew that Fu Zhengnan was concerned that the child might be under too much pressure from her parents, which could lead to problems if pushed too hard. He smiled reassuringly.

“No matter how much homework she has, she’s in bed by seven in the evening. What do you think, Teacher Fu?”

“…”

Hearing this, Fu Zhengnan finally smiled. He pointed to an empty seat diagonally across from his desk. “Qin Qing, why don’t you sit there and wait for a moment.”

Then he turned to Teacher Lin. “She doesn’t need to attend the self-study class this afternoon. Let her stay here for one period, and I’ll find a test paper to assess her level.”

Teacher Lin agreed, “I’ll stay and observe.”

At this, Fu Zhengnan’s face darkened slightly. “Teacher Lin, you can head back. I still have something to take care of first.”

Seeing Fu Zhengnan’s reaction, Teacher Lin paused and quickly understood.

“Teacher Fu, are those students in your class causing trouble again?”

“…They’re completely undisciplined!”

Fu Zhengnan slammed a stack of papers onto the desk with a stern expression. “Just look at these monthly exam papers—how they were handed out, and how they were returned. Yesterday, not one of them showed up for a whole day of classes. Who knows what they were up to!”

Teacher Lin smiled wryly. “As long as they don’t disrupt the class or get into fights, you don’t have to worry so much.”

“How can I not? These are my students.”

Fu Zhengnan sighed.

“It’s just bad luck that you ended up with the most difficult students in the school… But even Director Sun has no solution for that Wen Yufeng. You should try not to get too worked up over it,” Teacher Lin remarked.

Diagonally across, Qin Qing, who had just sat down, froze, her large almond-shaped eyes widening slightly as she looked at Fu Zhengnan.

When Fu Zhengnan looked up, he was met with the innocent gaze of the little girl, which instantly deflated his anger by three notches. He couldn’t help but ask, “What’s the matter?”

“…”

Qin Qing snapped back to reality, shook her head, and slowly sat down.

——

Before she had “rescued” that senior, she seemed to have heard someone call his name… Wasn’t it the same name?

Could it be that the notorious school bully that Manxue mentioned—

the one who skips classes, gets into fights, and hands in blank test papers—is also him?

… “Next time you see me at school, remember to turn around and run. I’m not a good senior.”

Qin Qing dejectedly touched the top of her head, which still seemed to retain some of the comforting warmth.

Fu Zhengnan noticed that after his question, the little girl sitting across from him looked even more conflicted.

She looked like a little kitten who had spotted both a trap and a fish treat at the same time.

Just as Fu Zhengnan was about to ask again, there was a knock on the office door.

Just one knock.

Crisp and decisive.

“…”

Fu Zhengnan immediately furrowed his brows.

“…Come in.”

The door opened, and a boy in the school uniform pants and a white shirt, with his tie loosely hanging, walked in.

Qin Qing looked up.

Sunlight streamed in, casting a golden glow over the boy’s black tousled hair.

His thin lips curled with a slight smirk. His eyes were dark and intense.

Their gazes met in mid-air, and both Wen Yufeng’s movement and smile froze simultaneously.

In the next second, he narrowed his eyes slightly, standing still as he stared at the girl.

His heartbeat seemed to suddenly align with some invisible rhythm, stirring up a silent storm.

——

The little white rabbit, who had tried to escape his grasp, had delivered herself right back to him. And she still looked as fresh and tender as ever.

If this goes on, I really might become a beast.

Wen Yufeng squinted slightly, thinking to himself.
