Chapter 81: Spar

Chapter 81: Spar

Lillian was getting more and more timid as she was the reason for everything. She would have rather stayed out but since Lukas did not tell her to do so, she followed him.

She just grabbed the hand of her mother tightly.

Catherine sighed inwardly and rubbed her hand. She kept a straight face. She did not care what others thought. She was just waiting to meet the people of her last camp.

In the end the old man stood up. "You want to meet the strongest man in the camp right.."

Lukas nodded immediately. "Yes I do.."

"Good then.." The old man came away from the chair and stood in front of Lukas. "There you go. I am the strongest.."

Lukas had that feeling seeing how this man had the biggest chair to sit in the council. "Alright, let us have a short spar shall we because I am sure you want to see my skill before anything else."

The old man nodded. "Indeed, we are at times where strength is very important for survival. Thank you for coming to this shelter. I hope you are even stronger than me because that will ease the pressure on everyone.."

Lukas got a little stunned. This senior was quite humble. Was it a show or just because he was really like this? Well he would find out someday. It did not matter for the time being.

"Now here are the simple rewards for sparring with me. First is that you get voting rights in the council.

Every evolver has 1 vote by default with my group who had taken over this camp first here having 3 votes per person. That leaves me who has a total of 5 votes.

Now comes the last part which is sparring since having default is for only weak evolvers. If you are strong enough to stand against me for two minutes then you will get two voting rights, if three then three...

Needless to say, if you beat me then you will get five votes too.. it is as simple as this.

Every decision is made in the council and voting is done to pass the resolution. You are smart enough to understand the rest.."

Lukas understood everything clearly. Nevertheless he really did not care about their council and decisions. As long as they did not interfere with him and do something against his will, he would not care.

But if they decided to do something to irk him then he would not mind wreaking some havoc.

Maybe this elder was really stronger than him in terms of physical strength as a military veteran given the fact that he was not holding his bow but in terms of spell and affinity, no one came close to him. "Well how do you want to spar... using affinity or not?"

The General smiled. "That is your choice. Let me warn that I have water element and also learned an uncommon tier spell. My level is three but I am very close to reaching level four.."

Lukas had expected this man’s level. "Since you have mentioned about yourself, it is only natural I do so too... My affinity is Light. I have a rare tier skill..." He could see the expression of many people changing in the council. "...and my level is also three."

This sentence shocked others. Reaching level three meant Lukas had killed a lot of dead walkers which was a feat in itself. The other thing that shocked them was his affinity and the fact that he had learnt a rare skill.

The General was shocked slightly inwardly before he chuckled. "It seems that if we use our affinities then I am definitely going to lose.."

It was not as if he was joking. He understood the value of skill and knew their strength given the tier. He did not know how much difference was between a rare element like light with his water or if there was any at all but a rare skill was something which would definitely push him to the backfoot.

Lukas on the other hand did not think like that. His skill Sanctified Pulse was a domain skill and its value lay mainly in attacking a group of enemies.

If this General had a defensive type of skill then given the fact that having around 10 extra attributes he got from the special bundle would not matter much in front of a military veteran unless he wielded his bow.

Well, it did not matter. He was not interested in winning anyway.

The general suddenly gestured at Lukas. "Let us go out. I want to see your full strength. It would boost confidence among others too."

"Alright.." He followed the old man.

The others immediately stood up and followed.

"To think he would be that special. I thought he was just some newly evolved when we had met him.." Leah said silently as she really could not believe it.

She was talking to the man with long hair beside her and her voice was quite low so only he must have heard it.

"Well he did look quite ordinary so it was given.." The long haired man nodded.

The woman behind them smiled. "What are you two love birds murmuring about?"

Leah turned around and shook her head. "It is just normal talk... geez."

"Hehehe.. I just love teasing you two." The woman smiled before sighing in remembering her own past.

....

Outside the general brought Lukas to an open field and looked at him. "I hope there is no need for weapons right?"

Lukas nodded. "Yes there is no need.."

The general nodded and looked towards his counterpart. "Be our referee.."

"Alright.." The second man nodded and came in between. "Tell me when you both are ready.."

In the meantime a lot of people began gathering around the field and among them consisted of the group belonging to Catherine’s shelter.

Their eyes lit up and they immediately came to her.

Catherine told them not to make noise and they all obliged and stood calmly, looking towards the field.

"I am ready.." Lukas was not in need for any special preparations.

"Me too.." The general nodded too.
