Gorgeous Female Tenants

Chapter 87: Walking into the Trap

Chapter 87: Walking into the Trap

In order to gather evidence, Director Wang took Chen Dahai and Liu Yong back to the police station. Those big men who were knocked down, along with Young Master Tang, went to the hospital, waiting to have their wounds treated before reporting to the station.

Director Wang led his subordinates back to the station. Just as they stepped through the police station’s gate, the officer on duty, his trusty Xiao Luo, came over to report, looking puzzled: "Director, a young man named Xiangbei came to turn himself in, saying he beat up a group of people at Spring Villa and smashed a lamp."

Director Wang and the others exchanged looks, not quite believing Xiao Luo’s report, and asked as usual, "What kind of person is that?"

Xiao Luo felt a bit embarrassed too, smiling, "He looks like a drunk troublemaker. How could one person beat up a group? Clearly, he’s talking nonsense. I locked him up to sober up."

"What does he look like?"

"Tall, with a roguish look, somewhat burly, wearing an old man’s vest, and a pair of flip-flops."

Director Wang and Chen Dahai got a bit excited, "It’s him! This guy actually dared to come to the police station, haha, isn’t that just walking into a trap? Let’s go check him out."

They saw Xu Xiangbei in the cage where he was locked up. He was lying on a makeshift bed, shaking his leg, and singing a song that was harder to listen to than a pig being slaughtered, provoking the on-duty policeman to shout loudly, "Shut up, no more singing."

"You can detain me, but you can’t detain my heart."

Director Wang and Chen Dahai scrutinized him closely, confirming that it was indeed Xu Xiangbei. Director Wang disdainfully remarked to Chen Dahai, "You seem to be getting more cowardly these days. How did you become a security team captain? By relying on connections and giving gifts, I presume. This Xu Xiangbei doesn’t look that formidable. Xiao Luo, prepare for interrogation."

Chen Dahai, having watched Xu Xiangbei knock down those big men in front of the monitor, didn’t dare to refute Director Wang and could only nod in agreement.

Chen Dahai pulled Liu Yong aside, whispering excitedly, "Later, we’ll be witnesses. Just say this guy went on a drunken rampage, attacking people, including this afternoon. President Tang has instructed that as long as we get rid of this guy, we’ll each get a million-dollar bonus and a promotion to manager. Hehe, it means no more security work for the rest of our lives."

Liu Yong nodded silently, outwardly agreeing to Chen Dahai’s plan.

Seeing Xu Xiangbei singing in the cell, he made an internal decision to tell the truth, even if it offended President Tang and Chen Dahai. He felt down, knowing offending President Tang was a terrifying thing.

Director Wang called over Xiao Luo, who was his confidant, and said with a sinister smile, "Before the interrogation, make sure to rough him up a bit. It’ll be easier if he’s compliant. The interrogation room has surveillance, so don’t hit him under it, understood?"

Xiao Luo understood, bringing two obedient auxiliary police officers, cracking the electric baton’s switch, creating a sparking blue high-voltage arc as they opened the cell door.

Xu Xiangbei chuckled, "Are you letting me out so soon? Thank you."

Xiao Luo sneered disdainfully, forming a triangular stance with the other two around Xu Xiangbei, snapping the electric baton in his hand.

They thought to themselves, letting you out? You seem truly stupid. It’d be a wonder if you ever got out in this lifetime.

Feigning a friendly demeanor, "We’re about to let you out, but you need to go to the interrogation room to record your confession and go through the procedure. Just admit to everything you did, sign your name, and you can leave."

Everyone knew Xiao Luo was lying, the two auxiliary officers sneered evilly.

However, Xu Xiangbei appeared cheerfully and eagerly, "Sure, whatever you say, I’ll agree to. I’m willing to sign."

Xiao Luo was stunned. Most prisoners didn’t want to be wrongfully accused and insist on telling the truth, usually resulting in a beating. Unexpectedly, Xu Xiangbei was so agreeable, leaving Xiao Luo unsure of what to do.

The two auxiliary officers were ready to press the electric baton against the sky, abiding by the rules not to act without Xiao Luo’s order. Once he gave the command, they would zap Xu Xiangbei, "Boss, what now?"

"Of course..."

A hint of sadistic pleasure flashed in Xiao Luo’s eyes as he was about to order the shock.

Suddenly, one auxiliary officer slipped forward, his electric baton jabbing Xiao Luo’s stomach.

Crackling sounds, blue high-voltage arcs zapped Xiao Luo, causing him to tremble violently, eyes rolling back, as a foul smell spread in the air.

The other auxiliary officer was shocked, "You idiot, you’re shocking the boss."

He felt like someone pushed him; his baton struck his teammate, and at that moment, Xiao Luo’s baton ended up in Xu Xiangbei’s hand.

Xu Xiangbei smiled at him, tucking the baton in his arms gently, "This is a high-voltage baton, take good care of it. Make sure no baddies steal it."

The auxiliary officer blankly gazed at Xu Xiangbei, realizing he wasn’t just a drunken fool but a devil. For some reason, his hand gripped the baton like under a spell, pressing the power switch.

Sparks flew, and all three collapsed to the ground, bodies trembling amidst the mess beneath them.

Xu Xiangbei pinched his nose as he ran out of the cage, "It stinks so bad, can’t stay here. Where’s the interrogation room? If you won’t take me, I’ll go myself."

Several other prisoners were in the cell, mostly there to sober up. When they saw the open door, they dispersed, distant shouts and footsteps echoed from the police station entrance.

Chen Dahai lit a cigarette, unable to hold back laughter, thinking he’s about to get rich and promoted.

With a million dollars, he could head to Jiangcheng Bridge to find Xiao Taohong and have some fun. Maybe she’d even settle down and marry him.

In the midst of his laughter, Xu Xiangbei approached him with a cigarette in hand, grinning impishly, "Brother, got a light?"

Chen Dahai instinctively took out a lighter and passed it over. When he saw Xu Xiangbei’s devilish face, he was scared out of his wits, exclaiming oh mother, his shaking hand dropping the lighter.

Xu Xiangbei flicked it with his foot, catching it smoothly, lighting his cigarette.

With thick eyebrows raised, he amicably asked, "I’m a man, why are you calling me mom? If you’re going to call someone, call me dad. What’s so funny to make you laugh so hard? Tell me so I can laugh too."

Chen Dahai turned ashen, cold sweat pouring down his back. He couldn’t possibly say President Tang told him to frame Xu Xiangbei, that he’d get a million and a manager position after setting him up.

He mechanically turned around, mumbling to himself, "Impossible, that guy’s been locked up, I must be seeing things."
