Gorgeous Female Tenants

Chapter 353: Friend, Not Foe

Chapter 353: Friend, Not Foe

Xu Xiangbei smiled wryly, "I wonder how Jenny is doing now. I feel her chances are slim. You should go back to the Purple Gold Villa to rest, while I go to the Thunderbird Group to check out the situation."

Xiao Lin’s beautiful face showed a hint of worry, "You better be careful, Lei Ziming is no easy character; he’s a beast that devours without spitting out the bones."

Xu Xiangbei laughed, "Don’t worry, I specialize in taming beasts."

Xu Xiangbei drove his silver Porsche at nearly 200 mph, arriving at the Thunderbird Group office building almost simultaneously with Lei Ziming.

Seeing Xu Xiangbei’s Porsche screech to a halt beside him, a barely noticeable cold smile appeared on Lei Ziming’s face.

"Dr. Xu, I told you not to worry, yet you rushed over in such a hurry, making me feel embarrassed."

Silently cursing inside, Xu Xiangbei thought, I’m not concerned about you; I’m worried about Jenny. Suppressing his anxious emotions, he responded with a faint smile, "I think the little thief just broke into the office to steal something; it’s not a crime punishable by death. If someone gets killed, you’ll have a hard time explaining to the police."

Riding the elevator with Xu Xiangbei, Lei Ziming’s expression was cold, his gaze like lightning, as if he could see through Xu Xiangbei’s thoughts, each sentence making Xu Xiangbei’s heart tighten, "Don’t worry, I calculated the explosion’s power carefully. It won’t kill anyone, at most blow off an arm or a leg."

Xu Xiangbei felt more self-reproach, blaming not only Jenny for her recklessness but also himself for underestimating Lei Ziming, helplessly watching as Jenny got injured by the explosion.

Arriving at the entrance to Lei Ziming’s office, the door was wide open. Two burly security guards stood straight, guarding the door.

Seeing Lei Ziming arrive, they called out in unison, "Hello, Young Master Lei."

Xu Xiangbei charged into the office ahead of Lei Ziming. The place was a mess, with not just bloodstains but some torn clothes fragments as well. It was not as tragic as he had imagined, and he did not see the severely injured Jenny.

Lei Ziming peeked into the office, then, puzzled, asked the security guards, "Where’s the person who broke into my office?"

The security guards, with an earnest attitude, replied, "Reporting to Young Master Lei, the thief has already escaped."

Upon hearing the thief had escaped, anger rose on Lei Ziming’s face, "Escaped? How is that possible? In my office, with a pressure device triggered, it should at least have injured the person’s leg. How could they escape?"

Seeing Lei Ziming enraged, the security guards, fearful of being blamed, nervously explained, "Sorry, Young Master Lei, we heard the alarm, and by the time we arrived, the thief had already run away."

"Yes, the two of us came together. There was no one inside except for bloodstains."

Suspiciously looking at the security guards, Lei Ziming sneered coldly, "From the security room, how much time did it take you to get here?"

Fearfully, a security guard answered, "I came up immediately after hearing the alarm, not a minute was wasted."

Lei Ziming’s eyes became menacingly grim but only for a moment, "Impossible, unless this person has wings to fly out, there is no way for an injured person to escape from a building dozens of floors high."

He looked up, his expression indifferent, "You two don’t need to come to work tomorrow."

The security guards almost cried, dejectedly leaving, opting to take the stairs instead of the elevator.

The elevator dinged, and Jenny stepped out, startling Xu Xiangbei.

But Jenny’s face was calm, her walk unhurried, and she smiled, saying, "Young Master Lei, the police have arrived downstairs to inquire about the alarm. They want to come up to check the situation. Do you want them to come up?"

Lei Ziming’s gaze was as sharp as a knife, staring intently at Jenny. He shook his head, "No need for them to intervene, send them back. Have someone clean up my office."

Jenny cautiously scanned Xu Xiangbei’s face, pretending not to see him, naturally returning to the elevator and pressing the button for the first floor.

As the elevator doors were about to close, Xu Xiangbei jumped into the elevator, smiling at Lei Ziming outside, "Since there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving too. Goodbye, Young Master Lei."

Lei Ziming raised his head, smiling, his countenance as cool as usual, "Goodbye, Dr. Xu. We had fun tonight. I hope we have the chance to play together again."

Feeling underlying implications in Lei Ziming’s words, Xu Xiangbei smiled, pretending, "Sure, make sure to stay alive. If you’re dead, you can’t play with me."

The elevator doors slowly closed, Lei Ziming’s face turned ominously grim again, his brow veins bulging.

Seeing the surveillance camera in the elevator, Xu Xiangbei covered his mouth and whispered, "Are you okay? I thought you got blown up."

Jenny bowed her head, "I’m fine, the one injured by the explosion wasn’t me. There is a Dongfeng pickup at parking space 11 in the basement, someone is in the car. Take him to the hospital."

Hearing Jenny say she was unhurt, Xu Xiangbei felt relieved and followed her instructions, taking the elevator down to the underground parking lot to find the Dongfeng pickup.

A strong smell of blood came from the pickup. Opening the car door, a lightning-fast knife flashed, a sharp blade pointed at Xu Xiangbei’s throat.

Upon seeing the person’s face, Xu Xiangbei exclaimed in surprise, "Zuo Mu, why is it you?"

Zuo Mu wore black night clothes; Xu Xiangbei was familiar with this attire, the same as what he wore when sneaking into Ouyang Yude’s study that day.

Zuo Mu’s left calf had a long gash, seeping crimson blood.

His thigh was tightly bound with a black stocking.

A mocking smile crossed Xu Xiangbei’s lips; the stocking was evidently Jenny’s, clearly showing Jenny had saved Zuo Mu, which is why the security didn’t notice him.

Zuo Mu was equally surprised to see Xu Xiangbei. His complexion was pale, lips purplish, and he lowered the sharp knife in his hand, "Oh, Dr. Xu, it’s you. I thought I would never see you again."

Given Zuo Mu’s rate of blood loss, without getting to a hospital, he’d likely die from excessive bleeding. Xu Xiangbei softly whispered into Zuo Mu’s ear, "Don’t move; I’m going to stop the bleeding."

Xu Xiangbei tore off his entire pant leg, revealing a finger-long wound on the calf that continued to ooze blood.

Zuo Mu gave a bitter smile, appearing somewhat embarrassed to be exposing his thigh to Xu Xiangbei.

Xu Xiangbei shaped his fingers like a needle, pressing a few acupuncture points on Zuo Mu’s thigh. The previously leaking wound, akin to a burst water pipe, showed a noticeable reduction in bleeding.

The severed blood vessels lay exposed like loose thread ends. Xu Xiangbei quickly reattached them, and then heated Zuo Mu’s sharp knife with a lighter before quickly applying it to the wound.

Inside the car, the smell of burnt flesh and skin rose immediately.

Zuo Mu’s face twisted in pain, his whole body tensed.

Xu Xiangbei drove Zuo Mu to the hospital. The night was quiet, and seeing Zuo Mu’s lethargic mood, looking drowsy, Xu Xiangbei, fearing he might drift off to sleep, intentionally engaged him in conversation.

Xu Xiangbei asked, "How did you end up breaking into Lei Ziming’s office?"
