Dongfang Yelan hung up the phone, beaming, "Congratulations to your friend, she’s succeeded. Chief designer Fiona had high praise for her clothing samples. Because of the time difference, she might receive the job offer tomorrow evening. You should tell her to get her passport ready."

Xu Xiangbei was pleasantly surprised, not expecting the good news so soon: "Thank you, sister-in-law."

Sister-in-law smiled casually, "I didn’t do much, just helped you inquire about it. But I do want to give your friend some advice to settle down at Sophie Company. Xu Xiangbei listened with delight, it seems Sophie Company is a conscientious company: "I’ll pass your advice on to Sun Jiajia."

"Trying to take advantage of me again? Careful or you’ll get a beating."

Xu Xiangbei sniffed the hand she slapped, smirked, "Wife’s hand smells so nice. Are you sneaking in to steal fruit? There’s so much left, it’s all yours."

Gu Xiangyi rolled her eyes at Xu Xiangbei, "Was that your sister-in-law on the phone? Her Italian is so fluent, much smoother than mine, I’m impressed."

"Oh, you can understand it?"

Gu Xiangyi picked an apple slice from the fruit plate, blinking her long, alluring eyelashes, and gave Xu Xiangbei a contemptuous look.

"Of course I understand a bit, unlike you who don’t get a word. Who was your sister-in-law helping out with a job introduction?"

Xu Xiangbei laughed openly, "Introducing a job? Seems like your Italian isn’t quite there; you heard wrong. It wasn’t a job introduction, I have a designer friend whom sister-in-law helped to inquire about the job application result."

Gu Xiangyi’s look of contempt deepened, "Fool, that’s the result of not learning properly. While I don’t speak Italian as fluently as your sister-in-law, I can understand it. Your sister-in-law arranged for your designer friend to be hired by trading one percent of her annual sales revenue as leverage."

Xu Xiangbei suddenly realized. Sister-in-law said she was just asking about the result, but she was actually helping him. It was thanks to her assistance that Sun Jiajia could join Sophie Company. While Xu Xiangbei enjoyed Gu Xiangyi’s supreme service, chewing the cold sweet apple, it tasted like bitter coffee in his mouth. Looking at the apple he spat out, it turned out it was a bad slice.

"Rascal, feeding me a bad apple, I’ll spank your butt."

Gu Xiangyi’s proud laughter echoed from outside the kitchen.

Xu Xiangbei called Sun Jiajia to congratulate her on landing the position she longed for. Sun Jiajia was very happy, but suddenly, the two fell into silence over the phone. It was the first time they experienced such an awkward pause.

Thinking of Sun Jiajia going to Milan, Italy for work, Xu Xiangbei felt a bit reluctant to part.

Sister Gu Xiangyi pinched her sister’s high, lovely nose, speaking earnestly, "Still a kid, my little sister, you’ve grown up. I can’t always be with you; you have to learn to live independently."

Gu Xinyan’s eyes turned red immediately, uncertain whether taking such a big step was right.

"Brother Xu will still be in Earth Sea for a few more days, and there’s Ouyang Jiahui, Xiao Bai, they’ll all help you. At home, rely on family; outside, rely on friends. I believe you’ll manage to live wonderfully on your own."

"Hehe, if you’re afraid of living alone in a single apartment, I’ll go all the way in helping. Why not move in and live with you?"

Gu Xinyan blushed and gave Xu Xiangbei a little kick: "It’s a girl’s single apartment, why would you, a grown man, live there?"

Xu Xiangbei grinned wickedly, "Why can’t I live there? Let them prepare a two-room apartment. We each get one. Besides, from Jiangcheng to Earth Sea, haven’t we always lived together?"
