Chapter 20: Let’s Fight Together, I’m in a Hurry

Chapter 20: Let’s Fight Together, I’m in a Hurry

"Who are you calling trash?"

Tang Hao and his father spoke in unison, their eyes glaring intensely.

"I said you two are trash, got a problem with that?"

Xu Xiangbei shrugged, looking as if he couldn’t care less.

"Kid, you’re way too arrogant! Which medical school did you graduate from? Do you have a medical license? How dare you call us trash?"

Tang Hao’s face darkened, gritting his teeth as he stared at Xu Xiangbei.

"If you’re not convinced, let’s have a showdown. Less talk, more action. Don’t be like a woman."

Xu Xiangbei smirked, placing his teacup on the table.

A showdown?

Tang Hao and his father exchanged a look and burst into laughter.

Director Tang, being a chief in TCM at the First People’s Hospital, had unquestionable skills.

His son, nurtured by Director Tang himself, was nearly as skilled, with few peers his age.

In contrast, Xu Xiangbei was just a young man in his early twenties, clearly inexperienced and naive, their capabilities worlds apart.

"Fine! How do we compete?"

Tang Hao eagerly accepted.

"You set the rules. I’m in a hurry; you two pieces of trash can come at me together."

Xu Xiangbei yawned lazily, speaking casually.

Both of them at once?

Tang Director and Tang Hao chuckled in anger; if Dean Zhang Fuen wasn’t there, they might have already jumped on Xu Xiangbei.

"Uncle, what do you think?"

Zhang Xuesong looked awkwardly at Zhang Fuen as he noticed Xu Xiangbei tangling with Tang Hao and his father.

Zhang Fuen smiled lightly, nodding in agreement.

From the moment Xu Xiangbei entered, his careless attitude annoyed Zhang Fuen but also piqued his curiosity about Xu Xiangbei’s true skills.

A contest with Director Tang and Tang Hao could reveal Xu Xiangbei’s abilities.

"Alright, head to the TCM department and see three patients at the same time. Provide the best treatment plan. Whoever’s plans are better wins. Best of three, and Xuesong and I will be the judges, okay?"

Zhang Fuen suggested.

"Dean Zhang, if I win, about the position of TCM department chief..."

Tang Hao looked excitedly at Zhang Fuen, pausing mid-sentence.

Zhang Fuen nodded.

"All right, let’s go."

Tang Hao rubbed his hands eagerly.

The group got up and headed to the TCM specialist consultation room.

By then, the seats outside the consultation room were already full of patients, each holding a number waiting eagerly for their turn.

"Director Tang, Dr. Tang, you finally arrived; the line’s getting long."

As they walked in, a polite young nurse rushed forward to greet Director Tang and Tang Hao.

Seeing Dean Zhang Fuen and Zhang Xuesong startled her, and she quickly bowed in respect.

Upon noticing Xu Xiangbei, she exclaimed, "It’s you!"

Xu Xiangbei was slightly startled to see the nurse, realizing she was the one who stopped him from smoking earlier.

"Hey, don’t be so surprised. Haven’t you seen a handsome guy before?"

Xu Xiangbei glanced at the name tag on her chest: Ding Keke, just as playful as her name suggested, if a bit nosy.

"You..."

Ding Keke was about to speak when an impatient Tang Hao urged, "Xiao Ding, let the patients in."

"Okay." Ding Keke shot a glare at Xu Xiangbei and turned away.

Soon, she led in a tall girl wearing a mask into the consultation room.

"Dr. Tang, please help me. The water in my dorm stopped last night, I washed my hair with cold water, caught a cold, and now half my face is stiff and painful."

The girl’s eyes were red as if she had just cried.

"No need to worry, just take off your mask. If I’m not mistaken, it’s sudden facial paralysis, nothing serious."

Tang Hao spoke gently.

The girl hesitated but eventually lowered her head and removed the mask.

Upon seeing this, Tang Hao, Director Tang, Zhang Xuesong, and others frowned.

The girl looked quite delicate; her features weren’t exquisite but she was charming.

However, her left face was completely sagging, her mouth crooked, and eyes slanted, appearing rather alarming.

"Xu Xiangbei, would you like to consult first, or shall I go ahead?"

Tang Hao looked confidently at Xu Xiangbei.

"You two go ahead; this minor case doesn’t require my attention."

Xu Xiangbei replied nonchalantly, grabbing a cup of tea that Ding Keke was handing to Dean Zhang Fuen and drinking it in one gulp. "Refill this for me, I’m thirsty."

"You..."

Ding Keke glared at Xu Xiangbei, snorted lightly, and went to refill the tea.

"Alright then, I’ll get started."

Tang Hao began examining the girl’s head and face acupoints, asking questions along the way. After five minutes, he clapped his hands and said with a smile, "From my judgment, your facial nerves were stimulated by the cold, causing nerve spasms leading to blood stasis and sudden facial paralysis. You’re in luck, if you went to another hospital, it might take two to three months to recover, but with my acupuncture and medicine, it’ll be at most forty days."

"Really?"

Hearing this, the girl welled up with tears of gratitude, thanking repeatedly, "Thank you Dr. Tang, I thought I was disfigured."

"Dean Zhang, this is my treatment plan."

Tang Hao wrote densely on a sheet and handed the treatment plan to Dean Zhang Fuen.

Director Tang, Zhang Fuen, and Zhang Xuesong all looked down, soon nodding approvingly, impressed.

Only Xu Xiangbei sat aside, humming a tune disdainfully.

"Dr. Tang, what’s going on here, leadership inspection?"

Ding Keke poured water for everyone and quietly asked beside Tang Hao.

"Junior sister, I’m competing in medical skills. Whoever wins will be the TCM department chief. Just watch me humiliate this guy!"

Tang Hao chuckled, feeling confident of his victory.

He and Ding Keke graduated from the prestigious Jinghua Medical University in Beijing, although nine years apart, making them senior and junior alumnus-like.

"Oh?"

Ding Keke looked at Xu Xiangbei, her eyes turning complex.

Initially, she thought Xu Xiangbei was a wealthy second-generation rich kid, bored and volunteering at the hospital. She never imagined he knew medical skills and would compete for the TCM department chief position with Tang Hao.
