Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons

Chapter 231: Wealthy.

Chapter 231: Wealthy.

After thinking about it for a moment, Thoren did not choose immediately. He retracted his hand and stepped away from the ancient door.

"I do not need to rush," he said as he shook his head. "There are still a lot of things for me to do here."

His eyes wandered to the glowing crystals, and the hidden greed in his eyes resurfaced. He could not even consider leaving this place before securing his treasure.

With that thought, he walked to the center of the cavern and pondered for a moment. Then, a new idea appeared in his mind, and a slow smile crept up his face.

’With so many undead servants, there is no need for me to worry about mining these crystals,’ he said softly to himself.

Without hesitation, he commanded the undead Storm Tyrant to mine one of the crystals. The undead Storm Tyrant walked toward the wall and raised his massive hammer.

Then he brought it down with tremendous force.

Bang! Bang!

After three powerful strikes, a crystal fell from the wall. The undead servant picked it up and brought it to Thoren.

Receiving the crystal, Thoren could not hide his smile. The stone felt warm in his palm, and it glowed with a soft, pulsing light.

"Let us hope this is enough to earn us a fortune," he said as he opened the Abyssal Market.

He moved to the trade section, and a notification appeared before his eyes.

[Please place the Item to trade]

A transparent tray materialized before him. It looked as if it was about to vanish into the void at any moment.

Quickly, Thoren placed the crystal on the tray. The moment the crystal touched the tray, it vanished instantly. Next, a new notification appeared before him.

[Flicker Stone]

[Grade: High]

[Description: Used in the creation of Bronze Grade Items.]

[Cost: 50 Silver Coins]

[Do you accept this trade? Yes | No]

Looking at the notification, Thoren could not help but grin foolishly. His heart pounded with excitement and disbelief.

"Hahahaha," he laughed out loud. "I am rich."

"I am truly rich," he screamed into the cavern. His voice echoed off the stone walls.

Right now, he did not care whether he could leave this damned place or not. His urgent need for money overshadowed everything else in his mind.

Without any further hesitation, he clicked yes.

The moment he clicked yes, he noticed that fifty additional silver coins had been added to his inventory. The coins clinked softly in his mind as the system registered the transaction.

"This is what I am talking about," he said with a face full of smiles. His earlier worries had completely vanished.

He had been worried that the crystal might be worthless, but now his worry seemed foolish and unfounded. This would be his first pot of gold in the abyss.

Now that he had confirmed he could trade the Flicker Stone on the Abyssal Market, he could focus entirely on mining. There was no time to waste.

"What I need now is to buy some mining axes," he said to himself.

Without wasting another moment, he opened the Abyssal Market again and searched for the cheapest mining axe available.

"Shit," he muttered under his breath. "Even a mining axe is terribly expensive."

The lowest cost was ten Gold Coins, and that axe was merely Peak Iron Grade. He wanted to curse at those who had created the Abyssal Market, but he managed to control his impulse.

Left with no choice, he could only spend three hundred Gold Coins to buy thirty mining axes. The cost stung, but the investment would pay off many times over.

The Peak Iron Grade mining axes appeared in his inventory instantly. Quickly, he called thirty of his strongest undead servants to start mining the crystals.

Most of these workers were the undead Jackal Beastmen, whose strength made them ideal for the task.

Soon, the once quiet cavern became filled with the sounds of breaking stone and falling crystals. Thoren watched his undead servants mining with earnest effort and nodded with a pleased expression.

"This is how it should be," he said to himself with satisfaction.

He took out a chair and a table from his inventory and set them up near the center of the cavern. He also took out some food and arranged it neatly on the table.

Looking at the table that was now filled with lavish food, Thoren grinned widely. Apart from changing his parents’ life on the surface, he had not forgotten to stock some food in his inventory.

When he was still at the Iron Rank, his inventory space was small and limiting. But now, it was twice as big as a football field. Thus, he did not need to worry about space at all.

His inventory contained all the basic necessities he could ever need in the abyss. When he was stocking everything, he had thought he might lose it all when he descended into the abyss.

But to his shock, everything remained completely intact.

The food was still hot, as if it had just been prepared moments ago. He did not know if this was the effect of promoting to the Bronze Rank or the power of his Awakened Soul.

In truth, he did not really care about the reason.

These were all good things, and he could not find anything to complain about.

Relaxing on his chair, Thoren sipped his wine while tearing into a chicken leg. He devoured the meat with great relish and enjoyment.

Beside him, his undead servants continued piling up the Flicker Stones into a growing mound.

For the next couple of hours, Thoren relaxed lazily on his chair while his undead servants worked non stop. The sound of mining axes striking stone became a rhythmic background noise.

"I should have brought some novels," he said as he shook his head in dejection. "Forget it. Let me handle this first."

He stretched his body and stood up from his seat. His eyes fell on the small mountain of Flicker Stones, and he could not help but grin again. The sight of so much wealth was deeply satisfying.

But then, he creased his brow in thought. He looked at the large cavern that was still filled with Flicker Stones and pursed his lips.

"I think I should buy more mining axes," he whispered softly. "If I am going to mine this place completely, I need at least one hundred undead servants mining at the same time."

That was right. He did not have any intention of leaving a single Flicker Stone behind. This cavern was his treasure hoard, and he would strip it clean.

He opened the Abyssal Market once more and searched for additional mining axes. This time, he decided to buy seventy more axes, spending another seven hundred Gold Coins.

The total cost made him wince, but the potential reward made the expense worthwhile.

Seventy new axes appeared in his inventory.

He summoned seventy more undead servants from his undead space and equipped each one with a new mining axe. The cavern quickly became twice as loud as before.

Thoren returned to his chair and poured himself another glass of wine. He watched his army of undead miners with great satisfaction. Each swing of an axe brought him closer to unimaginable wealth.

He estimated that if he sold all the Flicker Stones in this cavern, he would earn tens of thousands of Gold Coins.

That amount of money would allow him to equip his elite undead with powerful Bronze Grade weapons.

With such weapons, his undead army would become truly terrifying. No longer would he struggle against slow enemies like the broodmother. Instead, he would crush them with overwhelming force.
