Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 91

Chapter 91

Cherry

Back in the Lune Pack.

Bill was pacing back and forth anxiously at the gate of Lune's pack house as I sprinted towards him.

“What do you mean by Fern's gone?!" I was like a maniac barking at Bill. "She was just in her room sleeping when I left your house, Bill! How come she's gone?!”

“Calm down, Cherry. Bill is not an enemy here.” Dylan tried to talk some sense into me as frustration got the best of me.

I closed my eyes in immense pain, trying to give my reason an upper hand. When I opened them again, I was calmer.

“Sorry for being rash, Bill. But when did you find out that Fern's gone? Did you search through the pack?” My voice shook despite all my efforts in making it steady.

“I was about to get a refill of coffee when my wolf told me that he couldn't smell Fern's scent. So I rushed to her room, only to find it empty.”

"Fern got a unique scent. One would smell it wherever she goes. Has any pack member in Lune ever smelled Fern after she was found missing?" Dylan pursued with expectation.

"Unfornately no." Bill said apologetically.

“How could it be possible? Fern couldn' just disappear into thin air!” Dylan couldn't believe his ears.

“It could be possible if someone used a scent blocker on Fern." My voice was much more steady this time. "Remember how you couldn't smell Fern's shifter scent the first time when you met her back in Berlin?”

"Yes, but we got the the blocker removed before returning back to Seattle." Dylan looked even more confused.

"We did. But I bought a necklace from the witch before leaving Berlin, just in case Fern could need a scent blocker again."

"You mean someone put that necklace on Fern?" Bill took my hint.

“Yes. I kept that necklace in a drawer of the walk-in closet of Starsmoon's pack house.” I turned to Dylan. "Ask Bert to check if it was still there."

Dire silence loomed everyone as we waited for Bert.

“I can't just stay here and do nothing.” I finally broke the silence as worry devoured me.

“Fern is my daughter. She's bonded with me. My wolf will help me find her even if I can't track her with her scent.”

“I can't feel her,” my wolf butted in as I spoke to Bill and Dylan.

“My wolf said that she can't feel Fern's wolf.” My voice cracked, fear crawled into my system and started to cloud my head.

“You can't feel Fern's wolf?!" Bill exchanged a glance with Dylan before continuing. "Then it only meant one thing. Ferrn's now in a place concealed by a black magic!”

"Fern could be in Whitemoon!" Bert's voice sounded behind my back. "Many shifters in Whitemoon are fated to white witches, one of the most powerful species on Earth."

"And I'm sorry that I didn't find that necklace." Bert looked depressed as he approached me. “I ransacked every box and chest in the pack house, not finding a single trace of it."

"Could it be..." Bill started.

By tacit agreement, the rest of us nodded as all evidence pointed at Chelsea as the mastermind behind Fern's sudden disappearance.

“When investigating Chelsea's identity after she first came to Starsmoon, I learnt that Whitemoon has a tradition of using forbidden magic,” Bert added.

“Chelsea?! You just won't give it a stop, huh?!” I gritted my teeth while dashing towards the car.

“Cherry—” Dylan followed up before I opened the car door.

"Get off!" My wolf snarled at Dylan's. "That mistress of all evil is touching my bottom line! She wouldn't get away with it this time!"

"Leave this matter to me, Cherry." Dylan was calmer than ever. "If someone's out there saving Fern, it should be me. As her father, I don't love her less than you."

"Dylan's right." Bert came over and patted me on the shoulder. "I promise we'll bring Fern back safe and sound."

With that, they hopped into the car and vanished into distance.

“Everything will be all right, Cherry.” Bill assured me as we walked back into the pack house.

“Thank you, Bill." I forced a smile at him, "I'll stay strong, for my children and for Dylan's wolf.”

Chelsea

At the Whitemoon Pack.

Staring at this bastard in deep sleep, I played with the pendant of the necklace on her neck.

“What are you going to do with this kid? Kill her?” Standing beside me, my foster father Alpha Hugo asked.

"Not a chance! Killing her would be too good for her ruthless parents." Clenching my teeth, I stood up and went straight to a drawer on the bed-side table.

"Is the mage done concealing our territory? Dylan should be on his way here if I guess it right." A sneer of satisfaction escaped my lips as I took a vial out of the drawer.

"In a few minutes. How long do you need to keep my pack hidden? You'd better make sure your plan won't fail." Alpha Hugo was as cowardly as greedy. Yet this was just the very reason why I chose him as an ally on my journey of revenge.

"With your powerful wolfsbane at work, I don't think it'll be long." I gloated as the little bastard writhed at the sudden coldness. "Her parents will soon suffer devastedly as their bond with this bastard weaken."

"Then my best warriors and I will attack and conquer Starsmoon?" Hugo was carried away with victory under his nose.

"Not wrong." I assured him, sick of his greedy looks.

"Once Starsmoon is nothing but ashes, I'll be at peace and done avenging my father and my Bloodmoon Pack.” A string of mutters escaped my mouth.
