Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Cherry

I must have offended Nuu-Chah, and she took my husband, my family and my everything away from me.

Those happy moments between Dylan and me were just like a long dream, vanishing before I could savor their pleasant tastes.

“What would I tell Fern now? How am I going to explain this to our daughter?” Walking aimlessly along the road in misery, I barely noticed a man appearing before me.

“Cherry, it's been a long time,” he said in a voice that sounded oddly familiar.

“Do I know you, sir?”

“I think you do.” He handed me a business card.

My heart raced the minute I saw the name "Karson Blewet" on the card. I couldn't believe that the person standing before me was none other than the master designer I had admired for long.

“You're…Karson Blewet?” I uttered in awe, my voice barely above a whisper.

“Yes, that's me.” With a smile, the man nodded in affirmation.

I couldn't help but feel a mix of nervousness and exhilaration.

“Your designs are really something,” Karson continued, his eyes showing genuine interest. “I came to know you from Bert. He spoke highly of your talents.”

I was taken aback. Bert had mentioned Karson, but I never thought that I would actually meet him so soon.

My mind flustered to process everything. Karson Blewet was not only aware of, but immensely interested in, my designs.

“T-thank you, Mr. Blewet” I managed to reply, still trying to wrap my head around the situation. “It's a huge honor to have your appreciation.”

“Just out of curiosity, though, you've had a remarkable portfolio. Yet lately, I haven't seen any new creations from you. Is there anything going wrong?”

His question hit me like a spotlight on a stage, exposing all the troubles that I was looped with.

“Well. I've…hit a rough patch lately. It's like ideas just won't spurt anymore.”

Karson nodded in agreement, his gaze unwavering.

“Cherry, creativity blocks are something every artist has to face. It's difficult, but remember not to let it define you. You have immense talent, and your passion will find its way back.”

His words were like a reassuring hand on my shoulder, giving me the support I badly needed. The weight on my chest felt much lighter.

“I really appreciate that, Mr. Blewet,” I said, gratitude filling my voice. “It means a lot.”

“Cherry, I see potential in you, and I believe in you. In fact, I'd like to extend an invitation.” Karson's eyes held a gentle intensity, as if he could see right into my soul.

“An invitation, sir? For what?” I asked, curiosity spiking up.

“I'm going to attend a fashion design competition as a judge. It's launched at the Starsmoon Hotel,” he explained, “and I'd like to invite you to join my team in the competition.”

I was astonished at Karson's offer, my heart pounding in my chest. Despite my excitement, I hesitated.

“Mr. Blewet, I'm really honored,” I began, my words carefully chosen, “but my dream has always been to be an independent designer.”

Deep inside, I knew clearly that I barely had an interest in any designing events after what had happened to Dylan and me.

“Cherry, I have full respect for your decision. But remember, joining a team doesn't mean you'll lose your individuality. It could bring you a broader horizon and make your works richer.” Karson smiled.

“I'll think about it, Mr. Blewet. I will give you a call once I make my decision.”

“Glad to hear that, Cherry.” With a brighter smile, Karson put on an approving look. “Call me if you ever need any assistance or simply want to talk. You're a gifted designer, and I'd be more than happy to offer guidance.”

It was a simple offer, yet it carried a depth of sincerity. With Dylan, not by my side, it came right when I needed it the most.

As we stood by the road, lost in our conversation, a sudden rush of noise caught my attention.

“What the…"

A car sped by us, and instinctively, Karson pulled me slightly closer to him.

My heart skipped a beat at his protective gesture. The faint woody scent of him came over and enveloped me. His chest was hard and warm, making me want to be close to him.

“Are you all right?” He asked with concern.

“Yes, I'm fine. Thank you, Mr. Blewet.” I nodded, a bit flustered.

“Cherry, it's getting quite late. Why don't I walk you home?” Karson glanced up at the darkening sky.

“Oh, you really don't need to,” I replied, trying to sound cool. “My home is just around the corner. Also, I don't think it would do me any good if someone sees me with a man.”

“I see, but I need to make sure you get home safely.” Karson's expression was gentle but persistent.

“It's very kind of you, Mr. Blewet,” I started, my voice hesitant, “but I assure you, I'll be fine.”

“Actually, I'd like to hear your idea about the latest trends in the design industry. How about we, having a brief discussion along the way?” He smiled.

Karson really knew designers, I had to admit. I had been craving someone to talk to about designs, to bounce ideas off.

“You win, Mr. Blewet. That sounds nice.” I hesitated for a moment before finally nodded.

“Don't call me Mr. Blewet, Cherry. Just Karson.”

His smile brightened, and I couldn't help but feel alive again. I hadn't been in such a delightful mood after Dylan disappeared.
