Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 63

Chapter 63

Dylan

Chelsea and I returned to the Starsmoon pack a few days later.

"Dylan! Thank god you're back!" A young man of my age rushed in after that vicious Luna left. He must be Bert, my competent and loyal Beta Chelsea mentioned before.

"Hi Bert! Thank you for holding all this together during the absence!" I got out of the bedroom and patted on his shoulders.

"Not at all. Actually I just came back from the borders after Jason called to tell me what happened back here. Cherry's father is holding it there alone on the borders. By the way, did you see Cherry? I saw her..."

"How about talking about the pack affairs first, given I've been away quite a few days?" I cut Bert through when he was going to mention Cherry, the name that pissed me.

"Sure!"

I got quite a lot of information that I badly needed in the following hour.

“You did? Good for you!” I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Bert started a hotel business.

“Yeah, we need a stable business. I don't think we want to be exposed to any trade threats like when we were in war with Lucy's pack last time,” he trailed off.

“Go on.” I nodded and asked Bert to continue.

“This hotel will soon hold an international design competition,” he said, a hint of pride in his voice.

“That's fantastic, Bert!” I appreciated his dedication and hard work, my gratitude evident as I responded.

“It's a good thing you're back. We were all worried about you.”

“Thanks, Bert.”

"And I was thinking about inviting Cherry to the competition.” He continued in excitement.

“What? No! Are you out of your mind, Bert?” The anger that surged through me was a fierce blaze, my control slipping through my fingers like sand.

Bert's eyes widened.

“Didn't you know Cherry wanted to kill me?” My jaw clenched.

“That's a serious accusation, Dylan. Are you sure about that?” Bert's disbelief was palpable, his confusion marring his expression.

“Of course, I'm sure! She would have killed me if I hadn't run away from the hospital!” My tone was sharp as I retorted, my voice laced with bitterness.

“Dylan, that's not possible. Cherry would never do something like that.” Bert's skepticism was a stark contrast to my conviction.

I shook my head.

“You may not believe me, but I'm the one who suffered from all the horrible things that happened. And Chelsea, my fated mate, confirmed that.”

“Chelsea? Fated ma…?”

The shock and disbelief on Bert's face only fueled my frustration.

“Bert, I would rather not have this discussion anymore. I need some space. Just leave, please.”

“Dylan, I'm just trying to help…"

“I said leave, Bert. I need to rest.” I cut him off, my patience gone.

Bert nodded.

“Alright. Call me if you ever want to talk, I'm always right here.”

As the door closed behind him, I was left alone in turmoil.

The memories that had haunted me were now laid bare, the wounds raw and festering. The specter from Cherry's harm and the shadows of my past were impossible to escape.

************

When the door closed behind Bert, Chelsea showed up, a towel wrapped around her damp hair. We returned to the bedroom.

“Dylan, everything alright?” she asked softly.

I turned to Chelsea, feeling much better at the sight of her. Her eyes were really luring, but I always felt a little uneasy whenever I saw them.

“Yeah, it's fine, Chelsea. Just a little chat with Bert.”

“About Luna Cherry, right?” She tilted her head, a knowing glint in her eyes.

I nodded and pulled her into a gentle embrace, her presence soothing the turmoil within me.

“Take your time, Dylan. Whatever your decision is, I'm with you.” Chelsea's fingers trailed softly along my back, a comforting touch.

“Thank you, Chelsea. It means a lot to me.”

“Cherry wouldn't get away with what she's done. She ruined so much for you, for us.” I mumbled as I held her.

“No, she wouldn't. And we won't let her escape the consequences.” Her words ignited a fire within me.

Cherry had caused so much pain, and it was time for revenge.

I pressed a soft kiss to the top of Chelsea's head. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed me on the lips.

"It's been a long day. Let's go to sleep." I suggested.

The moon hung low in the sky, casting a soft glow through the window as Chelsea and I lay in bed. She was nestled in my arm.

“Dylan,” Chelsea's voice was a whisper in the stillness, breaking the silence that enveloped us

“Yeah?” I tilted my head to look down at her, her eyes glistening in the dim light.

“When I was exiled by Luna Cherry, it wasn't just about leaving the pack. I was pregnant with our child.”

Her revelation hit me like a bolt of lightning, a surge of shock and disbelief coursing through me.

“What?” I breathed, my heart pounding in my chest.

Chelsea's gaze remained steady, her voice trembling slightly.

“I lost our baby, Dylan.”

Her tears fell on my chest.

“What?!! No!! I…I had no idea about that, Chelsea…" I finally managed to say, my voice laced with sadness and anger.

“I didn't want to burden you with the pain. I just want you to know everything now that you're back in this pack.”

“It's OK, Chelsea. I'm so sorry about what you had to go through. I will have Cherry pay for it!" I cupped her cheeks, my heart aching from the pain she had carried alone.

“For our baby at least, Dylan.”

As Chelsea drifted off to sleep in my arms, a quiet fury simmered beneath the surface.

Cherry's evil deeds had left scars that ran deep.

I reached for my phone, my fingers flying across the screen as I sent a message to Bert.

“Send me the details of the design competition. Also, make sure you get Cherry signed up for it.”
