Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 61

Chapter 61

Dylan

I dashed into a thick forest after running out of the hospital.

I was not sure why I was doing it, but there was a voice in my head, a constant reminder that the forest was the safest place.

“To the forest is where you should go. No one would harm you there.” Those words sounded in my head.

A mist blurred my vision, and I could only run forward, aimlessly. Waves of intense pain pulsed through my head, as if it was on the verge of splitting open.

I had no idea how long I had run, stumbling forward, until I collapsed onto the chilly forest ground.

The smell of grass and earth seeped into my nostrils, easing my pain. With my eyes becoming even more blurry, I drifted into unconsciousness.

When I woke up again, my eyes met a wooden ceiling and then found myself lying in a wooden bed.

“Where am I?” I asked myself.

There were thin rustling footsteps outside this room. I got off bed and gently pushed the door open. My eyes fell on a woman with her back to me, long, dark green hair falling on her shoulders. Somehow, I felt a familiar scent from her.

As I took a step back, the floorboards creaked. The woman turned around, her eyes widening with surprise and concern at the sight of me. I had to admit that she had beautiful eyes, luring me into a trance for a minute.

“Nuu-Chah bless you, Dylan! You're finally awake. You've been in a coma for two days! How are you feeling now?” Her voice was gentle with excitement, like a distant memory whispering to me.

Confusion clouded my mind as I struggled to make sense of the situation.

“Do I know you? A-And how do you know my name, miss?”

“Of course, I do.” She nodded. "You're the famous Alpha of the great Starsmoon Pack!"

“And who are you Miss? Why am I here? H-How did I get here?” I slurred, trying to hide the fact that I may have lost part of my memory.

“I'm Chelsea. Chelsea Bellwood, daughter of the Alpha of the White Moon pack. I found you unconscious in the forest two days ago and took you here.” The woman chuckled sweetly.

“Chelsea?” I mumbled in a questioning manner, tilting my head. Her voice vaguely aroused something buried deep in my memory.

“Thank you for saving me, miss. This really means a lot. To me, and to the S-Starsmoon Pack.” I tried to chime in with her. "You'll be the most important friend in my life."

“Friend? Dylan, we're more than just friends. We are fated mates. You don't remember that?” Her eyes widened, seemingly somewhat incredulous with what she heard.

“Fated mates?” Words escaped my tongue, mysterious yet intriguing.

“Yes. I…I am your fated mate from a neighboring pack. Did Cherry still hate me?” She nodded, her expression sad.

“Cherry?”

“I know Luna Cherry hates me after finding you and me are fated mates. She tried to get rid of me so as to secure her position as the Luna of the Starsmoon Pack. I can see that, so I chose to hide and live in the woods.” Chelsea paused.

“Dylan, I've never imagined fate would bring us together again. It's only right because we are fated mates, but still...”

My heart raced at her words, a storm of emotions churning within me.

“Why did you pass out in the forest Dylan? What happened?”

I strained to recall, while a sudden surge of pain shot through my head.

Trembling, I replied, “I was lying in a hospital bed when a woman tried to get close to me. I'm scared of her… Wait, the doctor called her Luna Cherry! That's her!”

“Could it be that Luna Cherry wanted to hurt you? Perhaps you ran into the forest to escape from...?” Chelsea exclaimed and then suddenly stopped speaking, feeling like she had said something that she shouldn't have.

“Sorry, I didn't mean to slander Luna Cherry. I-I know that she is your Luna. I'm sorry if I…" Chelsea suddenly stopped talking.

She gave me a nudge after finding me still speechless.

“Oh no, Chelsea. You did nothing wrong, okay?” I said to assure her.

“And I really appreciate that you saved me. Chelsea, would you like to go back to the Starsmoon pack with me?” I was thinking about using this woman before I could recall anything.

Her eyes widened, delighted at my offer.

“Don't worry, I will try my best to protect you from Cherry,” I promised.

There could be part of truth in Chelsea's words, and the rest of it lay in the Starsmoon Pack. I must go back and dig it out all by myself.
