Chapter 550 - 489: Insect Mother
Chapter 550 - 489: Insect Mother
Yan also returned from the Divine Realm with his son.
After returning to Qingqiu, Sang Luo took Nuonuo from his arms and kissed the little fox’s big, fluffy ears. "Where did you and Daddy go to play?"
"Nuonuo wasn’t just playing, Nuonuo was taking care of business! Daddy took me to a ruin in the Divine Realm where the remains of many Ancient Divine Beasts are buried..."
Sang Luo was stunned and glared at Yan. "You had nothing better to do than take our son to dig up graves?"
Yan coughed lightly, a little embarrassed. "No, the child is young. I wouldn’t take him to a place like that for no reason. I wanted him to see some things with his destiny talent."
"Mommy, I want to hold my little brother!" Little Bao’er’s eyes sparkled.
Sang Luo handed the little fox to him and smiled. "You two brothers haven’t seen much of each other. Go on and play."
"Okay!" Little Bao’er held Nuonuo and said, word by word, "I’m your Brother Little Bao’er. My formal name is Yu Ze."
"Hi, Brother Little Bao’er, I’m Nuonuo!" The little fox licked his face, making him giggle.
"Mom, I’m taking little brother Nuonuo to play."
"Go on, but remember to come back early."
Little Qi and Little Yuan followed them as well.
Once the children had run off, Yan pulled Sang Luo into his arms. "Little Zhi Xin told me you went to the Ghost Domain?"
"Yes, I happened to run into Quan Jin. We came back together. Nothing went wrong."
Sang Luo changed the subject, asking about something else. "Back when I poisoned Yun Hua, didn’t you feel any pain? You’ve never mentioned it since you came back."
Yan thought for a moment, then shook his head. "The mortal Crown Prince Yun Hua was just one reincarnation of a single soul fragment of mine. I have experienced thousands upon thousands of reincarnations; he was merely one of them. I don’t concern myself with these past lives. To me, their memories are no different from watching the life and death of a stranger. They aren’t enough to cause any ripples."
Sang Luo was speechless for a moment, then chuckled. "I see."
Yan found it strange. "Why bring this up all of a sudden?"
Sang Luo explained the connection between the Rakshasa King and Lan Cang to him.
Yan was also stunned for a long time before letting out a soft sigh. "Luoluo..."
Sang Luo placed a finger against his lips and chuckled softly. "It’s all right, I know what you’re going to say. There’s no need for comforting words. I’ve already thought it through. Other than that tiny connection through a soul fragment, Lan Cang and the Rakshasa King are two completely different people. Lan Cang is gone. I have wonderful memories with him and no regrets. I’ve calmly accepted the ending to our story."
"Good. If you can think of it that way, I can rest easy." Yan was mainly afraid she would transfer her feelings for Lan Cang onto the Rakshasa King.
He knew better than anyone that soul fragments and the original self are completely different existences.
’If she stubbornly insists and gives her heart to the wrong person, she’ll only end up getting horribly hurt. The loss would far outweigh any gain!’
Fortunately, Sang Luo was very pragmatic. She didn’t like making losing deals. If there was neither affection nor benefit involved, she wouldn’t go out of her way to please a man.
"I missed you." Sang Luo kissed the corner of Yan’s lips, her voice soft, sweet, and bewitching, holding a clear invitation.
Desire instantly flickered in the depths of Yan’s eyes. After several months apart, he too desperately missed the taste of her.
He carried her back to their bedroom for a brief but intense bout of passion, leaving their bodies deeply satisfied and blissful.
...
That evening, Quan Jin came over to pick up the children.
Sang Luo was still sleeping soundly in bed, not yet awake.
Yan got dressed, leaned down to place a kiss on her lovely, satisfied face, and quietly left the room.
When Quan Jin saw him come out, he glanced past him into the room. His expression soured, but he didn’t say anything.
Yan used a secret voice transmission to say something to him.
Quan Jin’s expression changed drastically. "Is what you’re saying true?!"
"Nuonuo and I have investigated. It’s not a lie. I wonder if the Demon Lord would be willing to make a trip with me?"
Quan Jin looked at Little Qi and Little Yuan. "You two go home first."
Little Bao’er blinked and asked, "What about me, Daddy?"
"You’re coming with Daddy and Uncle Yan."
"Okay!"
...
Sang Luo slept until the afternoon. A little white snake was lazing, coiled on her stomach, while a little black snake was loosely wrapped around her arm, sleeping.
"..." ’No wonder my body felt so heavy while I was sleeping.’
Sang Luo couldn’t help but smile. "Son, daughter, time to get up~"
Little Yuan rubbed her eyes with the tip of her tail and yawned.
Little Qi woke up too. "Mommy, I’m hungry."
"Mommy will go make you something to eat." Sang Luo picked up the two little snakelets, got out of bed, and looked around. "Huh? Why is it so quiet? Where did Yan go? And Nuonuo and Little Bao’er?"
"Dad came and picked up little brother Bao’er. He left with the fox uncle. I don’t know where they went," Little Yuan said.
"Those two didn’t even leave me a message, honestly!" Sang Luo wasn’t too concerned, though. "Come with Mommy, my darlings! Mommy just learned some new recipes these past few days. You can see if my cooking skills have gotten rusty."
Sang Luo made some food and fed the two little snakelets until they were full. Bored of staying in Qingqiu by herself, she went to the Phoenix Palace but didn’t see Fei Yuan.
Little Song walked over while combing through his own tangled mop of gorgeous, curly red hair. "Mom, Dad went into seclusion. He won’t be out for at least eighty to a hundred years."
"No wonder I haven’t seen much of him lately." ’Without that phoenix Fei Yuan around trying to make his presence known, it feels like something is missing,’ Sang Luo thought.
"How about a trip to the South Continent? I haven’t been there in a long time. Little Song, Little Jin, do you two want to come play with Mommy?"
"I heard that place has a lot of strange and exotic poisonous creatures and Insect Beasts! I haven’t seen many of those before. I want to go play!" Little Song said, raising his hand.
"Poison?" Little Jin was immediately interested. "Then I want to go play too!"
So, Sang Luo took her four children to the South Continent.
She went straight to the Insect King Palace to find Anubia.
Anubia was a bit overwhelmed with pleasant surprise when he saw Sang Luo arrive with the children. "I thought you’d forgotten all about me."
"Don’t be like some bitter consort wasting away in the deep palace all day."
He raised an eyebrow teasingly. "Oh~ so~ I’m~ not?"
"..." Sang Luo gave him a light kick, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. "Fine, go play by yourself then. I’m leaving with the kids."
"No, no, no." Anubia had been wishing on every star for her to visit, so how could he possibly let her run off after she finally arrived? He said pitifully, "It’s finally my turn to have you in my bed~ You have to spend more time with me!"
Sang Luo blushed and shot him a look. ’Don’t say such things in front of the children!’
"I was worried you’d be lonely, so I brought the children over to keep you company."
Anubia casually scooped a Little Phoenix out of her arms and held it. "Mm, so cute!"
"By the way, where’s Shi Yi? Why haven’t I seen him?" Sang Luo looked around but couldn’t spot her old acquaintance.
Anubia said airily, "Oh, him? That unlucky fellow was eaten by the Insect Mother. Not even a speck of bone was left. By now, he’s probably already been reincarnated."
"Insect Mother?" Sang Luo was surprised. ’What’s that?’
"A new, aberrant Insect Mother has appeared in the South Continent. It’s devoured quite a few members of the Insect Clan. It was hidden so deep that even I didn’t discover it right away." Anubia smiled. "It’s quite interesting. Want to go see it?"
