Chapter 547 - 486: Meeting the Rakshasa King
Chapter 547 - 486: Meeting the Rakshasa King
Sang Luo was fairly certain that the person she was looking for was the legendary Rakshasa King.
She hadn’t yet found an opportunity to get close to the Rakshasa King, but this banquet was a breakthrough. She could try to sneak in, and perhaps she’d find a chance to approach him and learn the whereabouts of Lan Cang’s soul.
「Youdu.」
The Rakshasa King’s traveling palace was located here.
Powerful figures from all corners had gathered, their cultivation levels unfathomably deep. Sang Luo couldn’t find a chance to make a move, so she simply knocked out a guard, changed into his clothes, and disguised her identity, planning to slip in with the crowd.
Partway there, a Ghost Clan guard shouted,
"You! Yes, the one in the green clothes! Get over here!"
Sang Luo pretended not to hear.
The guard led a group of men and hurried forward to block her path. He looked her up and down, then twitched his nose and leaned in to sniff her. "Strange. Your aura smells a bit off... like a living person..."
Sang Luo’s heart clenched.
Her Illusion Technique was already perfected. Unless she encountered someone whose power far surpassed her own, there was no way she could be exposed!
But the Ghost Realm was unique. If even a trace of a living person’s aura leaked out, this pack of ghouls would notice.
She was just wondering whether to run or fight, and what her chances of winning might be... when a cool, pleasant voice spoke up. "I was wondering where you’d gone. So this is where you were."
Quan Jin walked over and said with displeasure, "Come back with me."
Sang Luo stared at him in surprise, swallowing the words she was about to say.
’Quan Jin is here?!’
She never would have imagined that she’d run into her own husband, the Demon Lord, in the Ghost Domain.
Quan Jin shot her a look, telling her to keep quiet.
Sang Luo obediently shut her mouth.
The guards backed away respectfully. The Ghost Clan member from before even wiped the cold sweat from his brow and bowed reverently. "Demon Lord, forgive us for not welcoming you sooner. And this person is your...?"
Quan Jin glanced at Sang Luo’s current disguise and said casually, "My personal Hidden Guard."
’What kind of personal Hidden Guard doesn’t stick by their master’s side and wanders off like that?’
But none of the Ghost Clan dared to question the Demon Lord. He was an honored guest of the Ghost Domain. One wrong word could cost them their head, and it wouldn’t be worth the risk.
"The banquet is about to begin. Please, Demon Lord, this way."
"Mm," Quan Jin said, then looked at Sang Luo. "Are you not coming?"
"Yes, My Lord!"
Sang Luo meekly followed behind Quan Jin, entering the main banquet hall without any further obstruction.
Aside from a few of the Ghost Domain’s Domain Lords, Quan Jin’s seat was the closest to the front. To his front-left, another seat remained empty.
After Quan Jin led her to their seats, Sang Luo took advantage of the noisy crowd to whisper, "Ah Jin, what are you doing here?"
"Shouldn’t I be asking you that, Sangsang? What are you doing in the Ghost Domain?"
Quan Jin was displeased. "You snuck over here, didn’t you? I bet you didn’t tell the Divine Venerable and the others. Should I inform them now...?"
"No, no, no! Don’t you dare tell them! Otherwise, I’ll get an earful when I get back!" Sang Luo said with a pained expression.
"First, tell me what a member of the Demon Clan like you is doing here."
"The Demon Clan and the Ghost Clan have always been on good terms. As the new Demon Lord, I received an invitation. It was only right for me to make the trip and give the Ghost Domain some face," Quan Jin said, pouring a cup of wine.
Sang Luo slapped her hand over the cup. "Don’t drink it!"
Quan Jin smiled. "I’m of the Demon Clan. I don’t enter the cycle of reincarnation, so I’m not bound by the rules of the Ghost Realm."
With that, he drained the cup in one gulp, his expression unchanged.
Sang Luo asked curiously, "Then where do you go when you die?"
"Back to the Demon Realm. If I’m lucky, I can reform my body. If not, I might dissipate into a wisp of Demonic Qi."
Sang Luo recalled the terrifying time he had died once before, and her mood sank. Quan Jin wanted to pull her into his arms, but with so many prying eyes and her still in the role of his guard, he restrained himself. "Why did you come to the Ghost Realm?"
Her trip here was a blatant infiltration. If she were truly caught, escape would be difficult.
For her to take such a huge risk, she must have a very important reason.
Sang Luo said in a low voice,
"I’m looking for someone."
"Hm? Who—"
Quan Jin was about to ask when his voice suddenly cut off. He turned his head to look at the main seat on the high dais.
The Ninefold Palace loomed majestically. The noisy banquet fell instantly silent. The black stone reflected no light, creating a solemn, austere, and intensely oppressive atmosphere.
A tall man in a black brocade robe appeared in everyone’s line of sight.
He walked to the main seat, flicked his robes aside, and sat down on the long Black Jade couch. At his side was a black Profund Beast, as large as a lion or tiger, wreathed in cyan flames. Its sharp fangs could easily tear through flesh and blood, yet it groveled at his feet like an obedient kitten, its posture fawning and submissive.
The man’s ink-black hair was tied up high. His handsome face seemed carved by a blade, with sword-like brows slanting up to his temples. His deep, cyan eyes were cold and profound, framed by long lashes like feathers. He had a high-bridged nose and thin, beautifully resolute lips that nonetheless held an indescribable, deep-seated danger.
Overbearing and majestic, he was high above all.
This was the King of the Ghost Domain!
Transcending all, controlling the life and death of all creation!
The moment Sang Luo saw his face clearly, she felt as if her very soul had been captured! For a long while, she couldn’t snap out of it.
The giant black beast suddenly twitched its nose and, across the crowd, looked right in her direction.
Its terrifying, dangerous gaze was like that of a ravenous behemoth locking onto plump prey, ready to pounce and devour it in the next second.
Flustered, Sang Luo quickly lowered her head.
Quan Jin’s violet eyes darkened. He pulled Sang Luo into his arms, simultaneously removing her disguise and enveloping her in his wide robes to hide her.
The Profund Beast leaped down and, amidst screams from the front, swallowed several members of the Ghost Clan in one gulp. It then jumped back onto the dais, licked its lips, and lay down by the Rakshasa King’s leg to rest with its eyes closed.
This small incident didn’t attract much attention from the others. No one came forward to stop it, as if such a sight was nothing out of the ordinary.
Quan Jin loosened his arm slightly.
Sang Luo emerged from his embrace and breathed a sigh of relief. She had thought she’d been discovered.
Still, she was shaken and didn’t dare look at the main seat again. Using the beautiful, dancing women as cover, she would occasionally steal a glance at the dais. In her heart, she was certain: the Rakshasa King was the man who had sent her away from the Ghost Realm.
’Is he really connected to Lan Cang? Their auras are worlds apart; it’s impossible to associate the two of them. There’s no way I could handle such a powerful and domineering man.’
But the questions burning in her heart were too much to bear. She still wanted to find a chance to ask him directly.
The Rakshasa King had been willing to save her and her child, so he at least bore her no ill will. Maybe she could ask him in person.
During the latter half of the banquet, a Servant said something to the Rakshasa King. His expression darkened slightly. He rose, offered a toast to the crowd with a few polite words, and then left ahead of everyone else.
Sang Luo couldn’t follow him directly, so she waited until the banquet ended. After getting Quan Jin’s invitation card, she followed her spiritual power to the front of a palace.
She walked to the door and was just about to raise her hand to knock when she heard the sounds of lovemaking coming from within the hall, and her hand froze in mid-air.
