Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty

Chapter 541 - 480: Commission

Chapter 541 - 480: Commission

Sang Luo ignored the strange feeling and teleported to a tall clock tower, where she sat down cross-legged.

She took out her snake-shaped Light Brain, which she hadn’t used in a long time, wanting to post a commission to find someone.

She discovered that posting a commission required specific Commission Coins.

Her Light Brain account was currently empty; she’d have to take a few big jobs to earn some Commission Coins.

Sang Luo opened the interface for accepting commissions. A small radar on her Light Brain swept back and forth, allowing her to immediately receive any tasks posted nearby.

Soon, a task target appeared directly in front of her.

She looked in that direction. "Huh?"

’The client got here so quickly.’

The newcomer was clearly an adult man, extremely tall and well-built. The muscles on his shoulders, back, and arms were apparent even through his clothes. He appeared to be about two meters tall, but unfortunately, he wore a mask, making it impossible to see his true face.

Sang Luo glanced down again at the red dot on her Light Brain, which indicated a target three meters directly in front of her.

"You’re the one who posted the commission for me?"

"Taking it?" The man’s voice was extremely deep and magnetic. Those two simple words made her ears tingle for a moment.

Sang Luo snapped back to her senses. "I’ll take it!"

The man handed her a letter. "Deliver this to 306 Kainuo Street. I will reward you generously afterward."

"Just delivering a letter?" Sang Luo took the envelope and glanced at it. It was a simple kraft paper envelope with no ornate decorations, sealed with a cyan wax stamp.

The man had intentionally suppressed his aura, but he still exuded an intense, oppressive presence. Only someone long accustomed to a position of power could possess such an aura.

’A mysterious big shot like him wouldn’t stoop to tricking a nobody like me. But... what kind of person would pay so much just to have someone else deliver a letter?’

Sang Luo had no intention of prying into her employer’s private affairs, but she still confirmed it one more time.

The man nodded. "This is the deposit."

With that, he transferred 100,000 Commission Coins to her. Several more zeros suddenly appeared in her Light Brain account.

’What a big spender.’

Sang Luo readily agreed. "Thank you, boss!"

"Have a smooth journey." The man gave a slight nod and left.

Sang Luo clicked her tongue inwardly. ’He left so fast, scared of anyone discovering his identity. He really is some mysterious big shot.’

Sang Luo headed in the direction indicated on the envelope. As she passed an illegal recycling station, her expression suddenly changed. Her figure vanished on the spot, reappearing inside the station an instant later.

The ground was covered in mountain-like heaps of trash. Scrap metal, nutrient solution containers, and food scraps were all piled together, leaving no room to even set foot. The smell permeating the air was nearly unbearable.

Trucks were also pulling up one after another, dumping more trash here.

Sang Luo nearly had her head smashed by a large steel plate, but she dodged just in time. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a black shadow also scurrying around, frantically avoiding the trash being dumped from the truck.

After the garbage truck left, the little creature crawled out from a gap in the trash and shook its head vigorously. It was a starving little Wolf Pup, so thin it was just skin and bones. Its entire body was unbelievably filthy, its fur matted into clumps, making it blend in almost perfectly with the garbage. If Sang Luo hadn’t deliberately used her spiritual power, she would never have noticed it.

Sang Luo checked again and again. If she hadn’t vaguely recognized how much this Wolf Pup resembled Little Stone as a cub, she would never have dared to believe it: this was Lan Cang as a child.

Right then, the little Wolf Pup was digging furiously through the trash heap with its front paws, searching for something to eat.

He ate rotten leftovers without hesitation. Upon finding half a can of synthetic meat, he became overjoyed. But instead of eating it immediately, he carefully picked up the can and ran for the exit, dodging the patrolling Beastmen.

A section of the iron fence outside the junkyard was damaged, leaving a small hole just big enough for his body to squeeze through.

Halfway there, he tripped on something. He instinctively protected the meat can, keeping it from falling. Turning his head, he saw a dark green Crystal Core roll out of a trash heap. The surface of the Crystal Core emitted faint wisps of a lightning aura. To the pup, this was an immense source of abundant energy!

Crystal Cores were extremely precious resources. For one to appear in a junkyard, it could only be a discarded experimental item, which meant there was a high risk of mutation or contamination.

But to the young Lan Cang, all he knew was that this Crystal Core could fill his stomach, meaning he wouldn’t have to search for food for several months.

Just as the little Wolf Pup was about to eat the Crystal Core, a strange figure suddenly appeared.

Terrified, he immediately bolted.

The next second, however, the figure caught him. Sang Luo snatched the contaminated Crystal Core from his mouth and instantly crushed it. "Who told you you could eat this!"

At her harsh scolding, his body began to tremble violently. He was utterly terrified, but he still held on desperately to the meat can with his mouth, clutching it with his paws and letting out a low growl.

The little Wolf Pup thought she had come to capture him.

’Will those people beat me to death? Or just kill me?’

"Um, don’t be afraid. I’m not going to hurt you." Seeing that the little Wolf Pup was about to wet himself from fear, Sang Luo quickly softened her tone to soothe him.

The little Wolf Pup just kept trembling.

Sang Luo sighed in resignation and put the Wolf Pup back on the ground, hoping to talk things out.

To her surprise, the little Wolf Pup shot off with a WHOOSH the very next second, vanishing without a trace.

"..."

Fortunately, Sang Luo had a backup plan. She had placed a spiritual power imprint on him beforehand. When night fell, she was able to find the little Wolf Pup’s den.

Wolf Beasts are extremely vigilant. Sang Luo concealed her form and aura, approaching with great care.

In a narrow, deserted alley, a few small, dirty, torn mats were stacked in the deepest corner. The little Wolf Pup was curled up on them, fast asleep.

Curled up beside him was an even thinner little gray wolf.

The two little wolves were huddled together for warmth, surrounded by shredded garbage bags, buzzing flies, and pools of dirty water.

Sang Luo watched for a long time before taking a Qiankun Bag out of her storage space. It was filled with Crystal Stones, clean and nutritious food, and plenty of warm, comfortable clothes.

It was enough for the two brothers to last until they were grown.

She placed the Qiankun Bag in front of the little Wolf Pup’s head, set up a Defensive Array around them, and left.

’This way, Lan Cang won’t have to struggle so much while he’s young. And he won’t resort to eating contaminated Crystal Cores.’

’I don’t know if this will change the future timeline, but it’s the only thing I can do for him now.’

’Oh, right. I almost forgot about the commission.’

’I have to deliver that letter quickly.’

Kainuo Street.

The person who opened the door was a young, brown-haired Beastman. Awakened by the knocking in the middle of the night, he was in his pajamas with messy hair. He yawned, "Who is it? Don’t you sleep at this hour...?"

Sang Luo felt a pang of guilt. "Sorry to bother you. This letter is for you, sir."

Luckily, the young man was good-natured and didn’t complain. He took the envelope, scratching his head, still a bit groggy. "Who’s it from?"

"From another gentleman. He didn’t leave a name."

"Oh, okay. Thanks."

The next morning, when Sang Luo returned to the alley, both Wolf Pups were gone, as was the Qiankun Bag.

BEEP BEEP—

A prompt appeared on her Light Brain: Complete Commission.

Sang Luo pressed [Confirm].

She also sent a picture to the client for their approval.

The client didn’t reply immediately, but Sang Luo didn’t mind. She put away her Light Brain and left.
