From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 78: Professor Thomas's Shocking Hypothesis

Chapter 78: Professor Thomas's Shocking Hypothesis

Three hours later, inside a conference room at the New York City Hall.

Here, everyone sat securely in their seats, looking toward Golden Hair and his advisory team at the head of the table. Naturally, the most powerful figures in the country had almost all gathered!

The Chief of Staff, the White House Chief of Staff, the National Security Advisor, the Secretary of State, the Vice President, the Speaker of the House...

Compared to them, perhaps only the Governor of New York and the Mayor of New York City retained a slight sense of confidence, as they were the reigning lords of this territory.

Stephen sat in the corner, doing his best to minimize his presence, and then looked toward the people sitting on the opposite side of the conference table.

Namely, Leon, George, and Jeff.

Among them, the one who truly felt overwhelmed by the occasion was Jeff.

Although he was a big streamer, he had obviously never sat at the same table with people of such high status. It was only because the successive descents of Angels, Demons, and the Saint had gradually strengthened his heart that he managed to keep his composure now.

Of course, the questioning for the three of them had not yet begun. Right now, the Governor was asking about the issue of their "losses."

"This disaster has caused the death toll in the entire prison to reach as high as nine hundred and forty-one!" Stephen said slowly. "Among them, over seven hundred people died from the scorching lava, and another two hundred died from mutual slaughter and the bridge established by Mr. Leon!"Hearing this, many people turned their heads to face Leon. This Knight's bridge had killed that many people?

"Those who disrespect The Lord may not cross the bridge! Slanderers shall suffer the punishment of fire!" Leon stated briefly, seemingly having no intention of elaborating.

With such an attitude, if it had been anyone else here, the police would have probably been called in to give them a "shock therapy" session. But facing Leon, Stephen had no other intentions and simply continued speaking.

"The specific losses are estimated to be around five to ten billion dollars. The East River is completely blocked, and shipping throughout the entire Manhattan area will also be affected..."

Hearing these details, Golden Hair waved his hand dismissively. "You can discuss these matters with him later on your own. Now it is my turn to ask questions!"

He did not care about the financial losses here; that was irrelevant to him. What Golden Hair wanted to know were far more important issues!

Stephen shut his mouth, listening as Golden Hair spoke up. "I just saw those things ascending into the sky along with Saint George. What were they?"

The crowd looked at Leon and George. Both men shook their heads in bewilderment. They were both latecomers to this path and did not know much more than the people present.

"Those were souls!" Professor Thomas Franklin, who was still present, said slowly.

Just now, this Theology Professor had been organizing the information from this recent period and observing the events that had just transpired.

As a Priest, Bishop, and Theology Professor, seeing his lifelong faith turn into reality made Thomas appear unusually vibrant.

"Archangel Andrew, one of the seven Archangels, is also the Angel of Death!" Professor Thomas said slowly. "Therefore, as His subordinate, Crown Saint George should also possess the ability to gather souls and offer them up to Heaven!"

"If nothing unexpected occurred, those souls were the ones he discovered after their deaths, taking them along to ascend into the Seven Heavens!"

Hearing this, Vice President Qian Si hurriedly asked, "Can only such a small number of souls enter Heaven?"

Stephen had just mentioned that hundreds had died, but the souls that followed Saint George numbered at most a few dozen, looking to be less than a hundred.

A one-in-nine chance, was it really that low?

Hearing these words, Thomas shot him a strange look. "The dead he led were from the entire region, not just this prison! In fact, he was leading the souls of all of Manhattan!"

"The Book of Revelation mentions that only those whose names are recorded in the Book of Life may enter the heavenly kingdom!"

"Out of all the deceased in the entirety of New York over the past seven days, only these were able to follow him on his journey!"

Seven days was a number promised in Christianity, and also the number of days it took God to create the world.

Hearing this, the Mayor sitting to the side suddenly asked Stephen, "What is the death toll in New York over the past seven days?"

Stephen quickly provided an answer. "The natural death toll is around six thousand people! But that does not include accidental deaths. If we factor in accidental deaths, there would be roughly ten thousand deaths during this seven-day period!" Hearing this data, apart from the three "ordinary people," the high-ranking officials present actually showed no reaction.

The entire city of New York had thirty million people, with an innumerable influx of transients. Ten thousand deaths in seven days was already a very low number.

Wasn't there a joke about this? Gotham City, as the darkest city in DC Comics, actually had a population death rate and crime rate far lower than several major cities in America.

Coincidentally, New York was the most famous of these major cities.

Yet, after hearing this statement, all the high-ranking officials fell silent.

They thought that less than one-in-nine was already scarce enough, but now the harsh reality told them that this ratio would actually expand to one-in-a-hundred.

Out of a hundred people, only one would have the chance to ascend to Heaven.

What a bleak outcome this was. Would they be able to get in?

"Then where did the rest of the people go?" Jeff asked curiously. "To Hell?"

Professor Thomas nodded slowly. "Yes, the guilty and the unbelievers will all descend to Hell and become a part of it!"

Hearing this, all the high-ranking officials broke out in a cold sweat. The one sweating the most, of course, was Golden Hair. He was not a Devout Believer, but now he had made a wish to believe in God once again.

They all knew how many wrongdoings they had committed and how great their sins were in this lifetime. Perhaps they should go buy some Indulgences today?

Seeing their reactions, Professor Thomas roughly understood what they were thinking. He smiled faintly and looked toward the three people on the side. "Knight Leon, Saint George, based on the words of Crown Saint George, and the words of His Excellency Michael that you just mentioned, I have formed some hypotheses. You can listen and see if I am correct."

Those documents had been compiled in front of their desks, which was why Thomas had come up with such a hypothesis. As the information coalesced, his theory became increasingly complete, and he himself appeared more and more agitated:

"A long time ago, I believe it was during the middle or late Middle Ages, both Heaven and Hell departed from our world. As a result, we no longer received any news regarding the messengers of The Lord, nor did we have any concrete information on Demons!"

"Angels could not descend to the mortal realm, and Demons could not manifest their True Bodies. Only The Church and those Witches and Cultists remained, battling against each other, until at a certain point in time, the power of The Church also weakened to its absolute limit!"

"This coincides with the timeframe transmitted from California regarding the slumber of the Aztec gods. All mystical powers waned during this period."

"Therefore, the Knights Templar disbanded, and all of The Church's reserve forces went into hiding. It is even possible that successive popes were only aware of this as a rumor, without knowing the specific details."

"But now, with the recovery and awakening of our world, the messengers of The Lord have once again found this place and chosen Their New Era Inheritors. That Father Angus and Sister Caroline in California are examples of this, and so are Knight Leon and Mr. George..."

"Following this comes the resurgence of Demons. Demons and Demon Gods—those entities that once waged war against Angels—are also gradually awakening and have set their sights on this world!"

"Demon God Raum, Satan Lucifer, and the great demon Baphomet should all belong to this category of awakened entities... Therefore, we humans, just like thousands of years ago, are once again exposed to the gazes of these terrifying Demon Gods, right?"

"The intention of Crown Saint George is likely for us to restart our former power and rebuild that massive system of The Church to combat these Demons who are about to descend upon the world?"

Hearing these words, everyone was horrified and shocked. Had this Priest and Professor actually managed to piece all these events together so clearly?

And it actually sounded incredibly reasonable?

This was especially true for Leon, who possessed the past memories of the Knights Templar, a matter he had never told anyone about.

Yet this Professor Thomas was able to guess it with such pinpoint accuracy. That was the most terrifying part!

Everyone listened to his hypothesis and looked at the near-crazed appearance of the Professor, and unexpectedly, they found themselves somewhat believing it.

It made perfect sense. If it were not for this reason, why had they spent so many years in this world without uncovering any information at all?

Someone must have hidden these things, and could this "someone" be The Church?

The logic was self-consistent, the reasoning was sound, and thus, Wish Power began to slowly generate.
