Chapter 72: An Assist from Angus
Chapter 72: An Assist from Angus
"I really wish what the satellite and geology experts have determined was false, but unfortunately, it's true!" The Blond Guy's voice came through the phone.
"The geological activity is continuing to intensify. At most, in one hour, it will completely overflow the prison and spread to the surrounding areas!"
"Chief Stephen, I authorize you to mobilize the entire New York State National Guard and all government departments to prevent this crisis!"
"I don't care what method you use, save New York for me!"
Stephen wanted to just drop everything and quit right then, but unfortunately, he couldn't bring himself to do such a thing.
Because his home was also in New York, and he clearly knew that even if this city was destroyed, those powerful elites wouldn't be affected.
In fact, the elites learned about the situation here even earlier than the President and had already begun organizing their relocation!
So, even if he abandoned his responsibility, he still wouldn't escape the eventual reckoning from the higher-ups!
Then he had no choice but to shoulder this responsibility. Stephen nodded with clear understanding, "I will do my utmost, Your Excellency!"
The call ended. Stephen looked up at Jeff, "What does Mr. Leon need? We can help him prepare anything, as long as it can save this city. New York can unconditionally obey his commands!""Actually, I don't know what he needs either!" Jeff said helplessly. "It's just that His Grace Michael said the only things that can save them are Sacred Hymns, Sacred Lament, and Sacred Melody!"
"Only by gathering all three and making the Saint descend is there a chance to stop this crisis!"
Hearing these words, Stephen was completely dumbfounded. "What on earth are Sacred Hymns, Sacred Lament, and Sacred Melody? Who could possibly know that?"
He looked toward Professor Thomas, who had just arrived by helicopter. "Professor, do you know what this is?"
"No!" Thomas shook his head. "But there is one person who definitely knows!"
"Who?" Jeff and Stephen asked almost simultaneously.
"Father Angus Bennett!" Professor Thomas said. "I've been in contact with Cardinal Jared Brian of California. Right now, this Father Bennett is in the Los Angeles church. We can contact him!"
"Then hurry up! We're running out of time!" Stephen shouted loudly.
On the tablet beside them, the magma was growing, spreading, and rising almost every moment!
The crisis of destruction hung over their heads like the Sword of Damocles, causing Stephen's already sparse hair to fall out rapidly.
Fortunately, the connection didn't encounter any issues. As everyone boarded the helicopter heading toward the prison now steaming with intense heat energy, they connected the call to Father Angus.
"Who wants to gather Sacred Hymns, Sacred Lament, and Sacred Melody?" Angus asked.
When Angus heard this question, he was also taken aback because he hadn't heard of such things either. Luckily, he was currently teaching Caroline at that moment. When these three terms appeared, the cross crystal on Caroline's chest automatically shone, transmitting special information into both their minds.
Thus, Angus learned the method of using this thing, and of course, he became even more curious about how the New York Police Department could know such information!
Logically speaking, this group of people shouldn't have access to this kind of information.
"It was requested by His Grace Michael!" Jeff quickly said. He was now just playing the role of a messenger, but he was thoroughly enjoying this role!
"His Grace Michael..." Angus understood. "I need to speak with the person executing the plan!"
At that moment, the helicopter happened to land on the roof of the building surrounded by magma. And this rooftop was now almost completely packed with people!
A young man, radiating white light, was moving people one by one from the roof of the prison building to the roof of this taller building.
Because the prison had already been swallowed by magma, the three-story structure naturally couldn't withstand the scorching lava!
Also, because the prison and the office building weren't far apart, a distance of just a few meters allowed Leon to barely manage to jump across with people.
But this was clearly not a good solution, because the office building wasn't large, and it was uncertain whether it could hold ten thousand people.
Even if it could, with the magma continuously expanding and swelling, how long could this place hold out? No one knew.
And how long could he keep moving people by himself?
Therefore, Jeff hurriedly called over Leon, who was sweating profusely, and handed him Angus's phone.
"I am Angus, a priest! You want to gather Sacred Hymns, Sacred Lament, and Sacred Melody? What do you intend to do? Are you prepared?" Angus's voice came through!
Leon immediately replied, "I am prepared, Father! This city is being threatened by a terrible natural disaster. If we cannot summon the descent of the Saint, then tens of millions of people will become sacrifices to this catastrophe!"
"To prevent all of this, I am willing to pay any price!"
Angus nodded with satisfaction. From the other's words, he heard determination and courage. More importantly, his cross showed no reaction, which meant the Lord's tacit approval!
"If you are mentally prepared, then you may begin your ritual!"
"You need a Saint as the Initial Supplicant, a Knight as the Final Supplicant, and ten thousand devout believers as the Vessels. Mark the Sacred Covenant Stigma to await the Saint's descent!"
"The specific prayer chant and ritual, I will also tell you..."
Very quickly, Leon met Police Chief Stephen. He didn't even have time for pleasantries and rapidly stated his conditions!
"The magma is about to submerge this island soon. Where am I supposed to find ten thousand devout believers for you?" Stephen said. "Even if we go to New York to look right now, it wouldn't be enough!"
"Wait, Chief, we have ready-made people!" Leon suddenly said. "This prison has very suitable people, and the number is definitely sufficient!"
Hearing this, Jeff suddenly realized, "You mean... the remaining prison guards and inmates? Have them act as believers?"
"Yes!" Leon said loudly. "They have all personally witnessed the descent of an angel. As long as they have faith in the Lord, then right now they are devout believers!"
"And now, we just need to bring them to the roof of this building!"
"There isn't enough time!" Stephen said. "We don't have that many helicopters. Unless you can build a bridge between these two buildings, this is completely impossible!"
In at most two hours, this building would be completely swallowed by magma. By then, everything would be too late.
Leon knew this wasn't a true natural disaster but a demon's curse. If they couldn't stop it here, even if he left, there wouldn't be a second chance.
And those ten thousand people also had little chance of survival. Helicopters simply couldn't rescue everyone in time from the magma's encirclement. This was a deadlock!
He clenched the Stigma in his hand, the power belonging to the Iris Light Seal. He wondered if such power could help him?
"Oh Lord... please guide your lost believers. What exactly should I do?"
He half-knelt on the ground, slowly praying. The light on his body suddenly scattered before everyone's eyes!
Then, the Iris Light Seal unfolded from his hand. Following the light radiating from his body, it gradually advanced onto the neighboring building.
Amidst the scorching air currents, a piercing white light cut through the sulfurous haze. A "bridge" composed of light materialized out of thin air!
Many people looked somewhat bewildered at this bridge, at Leon who stood up, walked onto the bridge, and seemed to stand suspended in mid-air!
At this moment, the "supernatural" truly gained tangible form!
"In ancient times, there was Moses parting the sea. Now, there is Leon building a bridge!" Gazing at the magma beneath the bridge and the "Knight" upon it, Stephen uttered his own exclamation.
Even someone as stubborn as him had to acknowledge the existence of the "supernatural" under such a miracle.
