From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 71: The True Disaster

Chapter 71: The True Disaster

As Michael's words concluded, the white radiance gradually faded away.

The somewhat bewildered farmer opened his eyes and asked curiously, "Has... has that Grace left?"

Leon, no longer sensing that holy light, nodded gently, "Yes, He has departed! He will ensure the demon receives its due punishment. As for us, we must now fight our own battle!"

Before them was the terrifying wave of heat that had already surged to their faces.

Magma reaching temperatures of thousands of degrees, like churning waves, had already flooded the plaza and was unhesitatingly rushing toward the depths of the prison.

Their ears could even hear the agonized screams of those prison guards and inmates!

Yes, agonized screams!

Although the magma hadn't yet reached the interior of the prison, private conflicts had already begun.

After all, this was New York's darkest, most terrifying prison. The people here were no gentlemen, but a group of vicious, ruthless criminals!

Under orderly circumstances, they could barely maintain the boundary between guard and prisoner. But with the magma eruption, the crowding of people, and the threat of death, these individuals involuntantly began their own "battle royale"!Those at the back wanted to push to the front. Those with grudges wanted to use this opportunity to send their enemies to hell.

Not to mention the guards and prisoners who were already at odds. Even though the guards had guns, they couldn't withstand the surrounding crush of people.

Those who were dragged down because they were too heavy or too slow were countless!

The most despicable thing was that some guards, upon realizing they had no way to escape, brazenly opened fire!

The ugliness of human nature was being played out here to the fullest. Gunshots, screams, cries, and roars were incessant!

Most importantly, aside from Jeff, who had never been to prison, the other two individuals currently serving sentences could even guess from these sounds what was happening inside!

Leon appeared somewhat despondent. "We wanted to save them, but they themselves... don't seem to care about their own lives..."

The farmer said softly, "Isn't this just humanity? There are noble people capable of sacrificing their own lives, like you. And there are lowly people like dust, like them..."

"Once they harbored such thoughts, they lost the qualification to be saved, didn't they?"

Hearing this, Leon was completely stunned and asked curiously, "Are you really just a farmer? I feel like you're more like a priest?"

Even he had only learned these things from those two dream-like recollections. The man before him clearly had no such heritage.

For him to speak like this suggested he had a teacher.

"I am most certainly a farmer!" the man said with a smile. "I am a farmer raised by a priest! He was the one who led me to the Lord I believe in, and he was the one who taught me this knowledge!"

"Raised by a priest?" Leon's eyes suddenly lit up. "Then do you know how we should guide this sacred power? The three holy forces the Archangel Michael mentioned?"

"No!" The man shook his head. "But perhaps we can seek help from others!"

He looked at Jeff. "We need this city's help, because destruction could come at any moment!"

...

Manhattan, by the East River.

Despite a thousand reluctances, Stephen had brought the police department personnel here.

Because the Mayor, the Governor, and the President had just received news informing them of the arrival of that greater demon, "Baphomet"!

This bizarre manifestation inevitably reminded them of that terrible storm disaster in neighboring Los Angeles.

If not for the existence of the rain god Tlaloc, Los Angeles would now be in ruins.

They dared not gamble on whether this place would become the same, so they ordered Stephen to come investigate.

The police department's helicopter had already clattered into the air. After circling the East River area twice, it brought back new information!

They brought a streamer named "Jeff," a man holding crucial intelligence.

"Sir, this is the man who claims to have witnessed the entire Rikers Island Prison incident!" an officer brought him before Stephen.

"Hello, Chief Stephen!" Jeff greeted the police chief calmly. This wasn't his first time dealing with the chief. Many of his crazy stunts and livestreams were in New York, so of course he had seen this chief many times.

Stephen was somewhat surprised. "Mr. Jeff the Madman? You were here tonight?"

"Actually, when the demon and the holy knight were fighting, I had just jumped from two thousand meters up!" Jeff shrugged. "You know, for me, that's normal!"

It was indeed normal. In Stephen's memory, this crazy streamer had done even crazier things. This was child's play by comparison.

But today was clearly different. He was actually connected to this special crisis, which surprised Stephen.

Moreover, the police department had been receiving reports about tonight's events. Jeff had indeed streamed a segment they all knew about—the demon's manifestation and, most crucially, the arrival of "Baphomet"!

"You know what happened afterwards, right?" Stephen asked Jeff.

"Yes. Later, that greater demon used many methods to pressure Mr. Leon, but Mr. Leon defused them one by one. In the end, we witnessed the descent of the Archangel Michael!" Jeff said with immense fervor. "The Archangel Michael successfully drove the demon away!"

"Michael?" Stephen and the surrounding officers were stunned!

They had just crammed knowledge about Baphomet, all from Professor Thomas's teachings!

And now Jeff was telling them that not only had a demon come, but an angel had too?

"Yes, an angel descended!" Jeff said. "If you can save the people in that prison from this disaster, they can also tell you these things, because they were there too!"

"Wait, what disaster?" Stephen keenly sensed this point and asked loudly.

Before Jeff could explain, someone else spoke for him!

"Sir, intense geological activity has appeared on Rikers Island. A volcano has erupted on the island!" an officer nearby delivered this news!

"Geological activity? Volcano? What? Is today April Fool's Day?" Stephen found the matter absurd. "This is New York, not Yellowstone Park. Where would a volcano come from? Rikers Island doesn't even have a mountain!"

"Look!" The officer didn't say more, simply handing over the tablet in his hand.

Stephen took the tablet. Sure enough, on the screen, he saw footage shot from high altitude. A small volcano was violently spewing lava right before his eyes, covering Rikers Island's limited land with molten obsidian!

Jeff's voice came at the right moment. "This is the disaster left by the demon. Mr. Leon said if we cannot stop this disaster, this lava will never stop erupting. It might even cover the entire New York!"

"My god?" Stephen was shocked. "Cover the entire New York? Are you joking?"

"Clearly, Chief, I am not joking!"

Behind Jeff, the red glow from Rikers Island grew increasingly vivid. That orange-red magma was visibly flowing across the bridge and then dropping into the seawater!

"Sizzle!"

The sounds of seawater boiling and magma cooling were incessant. The boiling sea and rising steam turned Stephen's fear into reality!

"First, the over ten thousand people on the island. Then Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens... finally, the entire New York!" Jeff said urgently. "This is a true disaster, Chief Stephen! We need to act quickly!"

The rising steam, illuminated by the morning sun, emitted a multicolored radiance!

The steam was scalding hot, but in the hearts of these police officers, they could only feel a chill colder than the deepest winter!
