Chapter 411: The Truth of the Altar!
Chapter 411: The Truth of the Altar!
The order of this funeral had been agreed upon by the three major religions. They were the true protagonists of this ceremony, using a platform tacitly approved by every nation around the globe to spread their respective faiths.
Thus, their funeral rites doubled as a massive promotional campaign.
Unexpectedly, the Church, being the first to conduct their rites, completely jumped the gun. Not only did they call upon their highest-ranking backer, but they also initiated a direct divine descent. Even the Gate of Heaven made an appearance. It was utterly shameless!
Were they really throwing away all their dignity just to snatch up more faith?
Freya's face turned dark. These folks from the Church had been exactly like this for years, and sure enough, they were still just as shameless. Expecting them to show a little restraint was pure wishful thinking!
Especially with that old man still standing right there, showing no intention of leaving. He was likely the most crucial figure sent to negotiate this incident; compared to him, everyone else was probably entirely insignificant.
'Fortunately, we did not come unprepared this time either!' Freya thought silently.
Since they were all religious organizations, they knew each other's tricks perfectly well. This large-scale broadcast was the perfect opportunity, a fact well understood by the entirety of Āsathrú and the Nordic Five!
Due to the previous information blockade, Āsathrú, which should have been experiencing rapid growth, had remained trapped in a small corner of Northern Europe.
This was naturally a terrible predicament. Because Āsathrú's spread was confined to Nordic lands, it was also hindered by the harsh, unwelcoming nature of the region. Even though they had recently established some ties with Germany, it was still not a true global superpower, leaving them severely lacking and powerless in the arena of public opinion.Consequently, they attached paramount importance to this event. As long as this incident was publicized effectively, the Asgardian Pantheon and the entire Norse Pantheon would secure enough faith for many years to come, no longer needing to rely on others!
They would finally step onto this colossal stage and become true chess players!
Therefore, Freya raised her hand and tossed the mistletoe she was holding into the pile of waste before her. Of course, it was not mere waste, but the mangled corpses of monsters slain by the Viking warriors!
Behind her stood a new lineage of Viking warriors. These chosen fighters of the Asgardian Pantheon wielded swords, shields, and axes, striking the ground rhythmically to play the war song of the Norsemen!
"The blood of the warrior, Flows to the gates of Valhalla!
The kiss of the Valkyrie, Is bestowed upon every heroic spirit!
Today, I shall offer blood instead of mead, guiding you to the banquet of eternal war!"
As her words faded, the sky, which should have been bright, began to change. A crimson hue reminiscent of fresh blood dyed the heavens. Flakes of snow began to fall at that very moment, manifesting as physical, freezing snow that drifted around everyone present.
Within the falling snow, an ancient ballad seemed to echo, guiding every soul to find their place within its solemn melody!
Behind her, the Viking warriors joined in a booming chorus: "Drink deeply! Let this blood be our guiding star!"
Using sword and shield as their musical instruments and war cries as their ballads, they played a magnificent and heroic farewell dirge for all the spectators to witness!
"Look at the horizon, what is that?" someone exclaimed in awe.
Everyone raised their heads and peered into the distance. Emerging through the crimson snow was an aurora—a phenomenon that had absolutely no business appearing over the Caribbean Sea!
At the far edge of the aurora, a unique radiance extended outward, transforming into brilliant iridescent light that illuminated the eight skeletal warhorses galloping above!
Boundless light cascaded down, melting away everything within the blizzard. For the first time, an intense glow surged from beneath the previously dark surface of this sea area.
It was a distinct silhouette, glowing with a hazy, ethereal light, blooming brilliantly within the oceanic depths!
On the Church's side, Angus was completely dumbfounded. Behind this radiant display, he saw something even more astonishing: three women soaring through the sky, riding upon three sky horses as they slowly descended!
He cast a quick glance at the old man beside him. From their brief conversation earlier, he had learned the man's identity: Saint Peter, one of Jesus's twelve apostles. He was already considered an extraordinarily powerful saint, so how could the opposing side casually deploy three Valkyries right off the bat?
Furthermore, these three Valkyries did not seem to be descending to the lower realm on a mission; rather, it looked as though they were arriving to welcome someone.
What was going on? Were the Norse Pantheon and the Asgardian Pantheon planning to clear the area entirely?
This spectacular sight prompted Luowa, who had been observing quietly, to abruptly snap his head up. "Is... is that His Excellency Baldr?"
He could sense that this light shared the exact same origin as the World Tree, and there was only one being left who could emit such a radiance: Baldr!
Hearing this, the three deities beside him also looked up. Faisal watched the spectacle with genuine curiosity. "Is this how your pantheon makes an entrance? What kind of god is Baldr?"
Luowa fiercely whipped his head around and glared at him. "When encountering a Chief God, you must address him as His Excellency! He is the God of Light, the child of His Majesty Odin and Queen Frigg, and the future God-King of this pantheon!"
Upon hearing this reprimand, the three otherworld deities immediately understood. So this was the true divine heir of this pantheon!
The future God-King—what a terrifyingly heavy title. That meant he would eventually wield Powerful Divine Power at the absolute minimum, right?
The three Valkyries hovered in the sky just like that, dancing and chanting as they circled the massive, luminous phantom:
"Arise! Lord of Light, God of Spring and Joy, God of Battle, Valiant Prince!
This sea area is not your final resting place, But the cradle of your rebirth! Awaken, God of Light!"
The war song and the battle dance seemed to conquer the entire sky. In that moment, the previously hazy phantom of light completely solidified, transforming into an incredibly tangible body!
"What a profound dream! Skuld?" the figure murmured.
"Yes, Your Excellency Baldr. Your dream has ended! The God-King requires your return!" the leading Valkyrie whispered softly. "Welcome back!"
The illusion of light dispersed, and the colossal body of photons vanished as well. Left in its place was a handsome, radiant male deity, calmly observing his surroundings.
His serene gaze swept across the faces of everyone present before an expression of dawning comprehension settled on his features. "Hmm... So, a millennium has already passed, hasn't it? It seems we won the war. I cannot sense the aura of any Outer-Domain Evil Gods..."
His gaze conspicuously drifted over the deities floating in the sky, causing the avatars of the three gods to instantly feel an immense, crushing pressure!
Powerful Divine Power! This was unquestionably Powerful Divine Power! Had they just witnessed the resurrection of a being with Powerful Divine Power?
Was the Asgardian Pantheon truly this formidable? Someone wielding Powerful Divine Power was merely the son of the God-King? Such might was completely unimaginable!
This solidified reality drove an even deeper mental brand of this world's sheer strength into the minds of the three deities. At the same time, it filled the mortals of this reality with profound astonishment and ecstatic joy.
Within the American fleet, a sickly flush of extreme excitement bloomed across Professor Margaret's face. "I was right! My hypothesis was spot on! Something belonging to a deity really is buried here! No, it isn't just an object—it's an actual deity!"
"It's Baldr! This place truly was a dominion of the Asgardian Pantheon. I was entirely correct!"
She had previously analyzed the anomalies in this location using available historical data. To her utter shock, reality aligned perfectly with her wildest theories. A backup plan from Norse Mythology existed here—and it wasn't just a simple artifact, it was a living god!
A deity was hidden here, and a Chief God of the Norse pantheon at that?
This exaggerated development left absolutely everyone flabbergasted! It also prompted the old man standing beside Angus to slowly rise to his feet, soar into the air, and halt directly in front of Baldr.
"It has been a long time, Baldr," the old man greeted.
"It has indeed been far too long, Peter!" Baldr replied. Waking up to immediately see an old friend visibly delighted him. "It seems that ancient war has finally concluded. Even you have stepped out of Heaven?"
"Yes, it is over. Otherwise, you would not have awakened, right?" the old man murmured softly. "Though you did wake up a little late. The bones of your warriors and our believers are already buried in this land..."
"Our warriors?" Baldr paused, lifting his head to gaze out across the ocean. Spotting something in the distance, a serene smile graced his lips. "Over a thousand years ago, to secure our victory, I sacrificed myself to seal eight destructive deities from other dimensions right here. Poseidon inscribed the runes for me, and Kukulkan bestowed his blessing upon me..."
"To attain victory, all sacrifices were entirely worth it!" Baldr declared. "The gods were willing to sacrifice their very selves to win, and thus, we succeeded! Those gods from other domains... have they all perished?"
"Yes, they are all dead! We fulfilled our ancient covenant: you were responsible for the main battlefield, and we handled the aftermath. These are the corpses of the two who tried to flee!"
Under the watchful eyes of the entire world, the truth of this extraordinary ancient covenant was finally unveiled to all!
And in the eyes of the people of Earth, a vision from an ancient era slowly began to unfold...
So the gods were not entirely antagonistic toward one another. Instead, in an era lost to antiquity, they had fought shoulder to shoulder against a mutual enemy—and this ancient war had somehow dragged on all the way to the present day?
To the three deities from Dylan Continent who had journeyed to this world, however, this revelation was far more alarming. What kind of unimaginable terror required such tremendously powerful divine pantheons to form an alliance just to fight it?
Could such horrifying entities pose a catastrophic threat to Dylan Continent as well?
As the entire world watched with bated breath, it seemed that an even older, grander epic was just beginning to be told!
