Chapter 383: Who Told You That Your Power Comes From the Gods?
Chapter 383: Who Told You That Your Power Comes From the Gods?
Carl's voice continued to echo, laced with an almost extreme, righteous fury. "Just who dares to impersonate the names of the Inca Deities? In this era where the gods have descended?"
His voice boomed out. A split second later, it was no longer coming through the phone, but rather projecting directly in front of everyone present!
"Screech!" A sharp, piercing Eagle Cry tore through the air. A massive goshawk revealed its form in the sky, and right before everyone's eyes, it slowly morphed into Carl's body.
This follower of the Eagle God, the current High Priest of the sky, had appeared directly in this Sea Area!
He glared fiercely at the crystalline humanoid, demanding with intense anger, "Who are you? How dare you appear in this world wearing the names of the Inca Deities?"
"Crown Inti still watches over this realm. How dare you blaspheme the gods?"
That statement, combined with Carl's sudden appearance, left Austin completely dumbfounded.
He had been absolutely certain that he was working on behalf of the gods of his Bloodline, which was why he had been so driven.
But now, Carl was telling him that he had not been helping his own gods at all, and had instead aided a False God. This was a little too difficult to accept.
"That is impossible, right? Could you be mistaken?" Austin stammered out. "Perhaps... it is... it is a deity from an even earlier era?""Evan directly used the opportunity of a sacrifice to ask the God of Sacrifice. He would not make a mistake!" Carl's words became the final straw that crushed Austin's hopes.
"K'ak' Tiliw certainly would not make a mistake, because back then, the first god to discover me was him!" That sinister, incredibly bizarre, sharp and hoarse voice slowly chimed in.
Everyone turned their heads to see that the crystalline humanoid had already stood up. It stared at them with a pair of eyes that seemed to glow with a faint green light. "The Eagle God moved quickly. He has already found his Inheritor in this world?"
"It seems the injuries he sustained during the Divine War back then were not heavy enough!"
If they had only been suspicious before, the moment those words were spoken, everyone present fully understood. The monster standing before them was absolutely not an Inca deity. In fact, it was highly likely an enemy of the deities of this continent.
After all, what decent being would start off by cursing someone else's Chief God?
Carl obviously could not tolerate this. As the God-Chosen of the Eagle God, it was impossible for him to remain indifferent to such words. He raised the Scepter in his hand.
"Blasphemer, you shall face the judgment of the sky!
Lightning shall be the punishment for your words and deeds!"
The High Priest did not hesitate to tear open the palm of his hand. Blood flowed over the Scepter, completing a simple sacrifice.
Following his declaration, a dark storm cloud rapidly gathered in the sky, allowing Carl's fury-fueled attack to strike down upon the crystalline humanoid before him.
"Boom!" Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, a massive bolt of lightning crashed down. The lightning strike, thick as a barrel, flashed so brightly that the surrounding sky momentarily turned a blinding white.
Yet this attack did not bring any sense of triumph. The monster before them simply opened its mouth with absolute calm and, right in front of everyone, swallowed the lightning bolt whole.
"You humans of this latter era do not even know the most basic rules. Only a god can wound a god. And you are not qualified!"
The crystalline humanoid spoke nonchalantly, seemingly completely unbothered by Carl's attack, or perhaps it simply did not care at all.
It merely turned around and pulled out the blood-red cross beside it, speaking softly, "Because of your actions, I was able to break free from the Seal. I am very pleased, so I do not wish to kill you just yet."
Everyone felt a surge of indignation upon hearing those words, yet no one dared to voice it. They had witnessed the results of Carl's attack—a strike that would have been incredibly difficult for any of them to resist, yet it failed to cause even a ripple of Turmoil against their opponent.
This entity was an absurdly powerful Transcendent Being, and no one wanted to follow in Nick's footsteps!
The crystalline humanoid raised the cross in its hand. Following its movement, the cross, which had initially been composed solely of coral, miraculously transformed into a blood-red longsword right before their eyes.
"My name is Kuchamama, the Sea God. Of course, no Divine Pantheon acknowledges my name or power, because I stole the authority of the oceans!"
"Now, it is time to consider how to deal with all of you. How about becoming my subordinates and helping me rule this world?"
Its words brimmed with an indescribable confidence, as if it were not facing a group of Transcendent Beings, but merely a flock of lambs waiting to be slaughtered! Elton did not share this view. He raised the "Poseidon Scepter" in his hand, pointing it squarely at Kuchamama. "So, you are the one responsible for the casualties here, right?"
"With so many of us here, are we supposed to be afraid of a single evil god who just woke up from the bottom of the ocean? We have the gods standing behind us!"
His words caused many to suddenly freeze in realization, before their eyes lit up. He was right. They had inherited the power of the gods. They were not fighting alone, so why should they be afraid?
One by one, they stood up, drawing upon the power within their bodies, ready to clash with this unfamiliar evil god!
"Hahahaha!" Kuchamama roared with laughter. "Who told you that your power comes from the gods?"
As it spoke, it raised a hand, causing more than half of the Transcendent Beings present to float into the air, struggling helplessly.
"How is it? My power... is quite useful, is it not?"
Elton, Austin, and everyone aboard the various international fleets who possessed the power of the sea were simultaneously manipulated by Kuchamama, floating in the air and thrashing about in despair.
Unwilling to concede, Elton shouted at the top of his lungs, "Nonsense! I clearly inherited the power of Crown Poseidon. How could it possibly be yours?"
"Poseidon?" Kuchamama laughed boisterously at the name. "If I did not disguise it as Poseidon's power, how would you have ever let your guard down enough to accept my power?"
"If I did not tell you it was their power, how would you have ever delivered this power right to my doorstep?"
Hearing those words, everyone finally understood!
As it turned out, this was not just a trap—it was a trap within a trap!
Kuchamama had first used its identity as the "Sea God" to turn Austin into its pawn, luring them into breaking its Seal.
Then, it used the power and authority in its grasp to seduce these people, making them falsely believe they were the "Divine Favored." This fueled their Ambition, drawing them all to this very location.
From the very beginning, all of them had been caught in the entity's grand design, flying blindly like headless flies.
Any "miraculous encounters" or "transcendent knowledge" they thought they had acquired were nothing more than the bait used to ensnare them.
Kuchamama simply reached out a hand, and everyone collapsed as if completely drained. The artifacts in their hands flew to the entity one by one, melding into its form and becoming a part of its physical body.
An aura that could only be described as absolute might radiated from Kuchamama without any restraint, striking terror into the hearts of everyone present.
Having absorbed the authority from those who had obtained Transcendent Power from the sea, it looked increasingly like a true deity. It slowly ascended into the sky, hovering right in the center of this Sea Area.
"I know the people of your nations are all watching this place..." it declared loudly, holding the Transcendent Beings who had just been stripped of their power. "Offer me your faith, and I can forgive your past offenses!"
"If anyone dares to resist, I shall reduce their Realm to history!"
Behind it, a terrifying pillar of light shot into the sky. The graveyard that had originally been buried beneath the sea slowly rose, transforming into a solid island and revealing the shattered stone bricks upon its surface.
Following its gestures, these stone bricks slowly gathered and, right before the eyes of the onlookers, reassembled themselves into an unimaginably massive altar!
"Once, Poseidon, Aegir, Pariacaca, and that eagle joined forces to shatter my Divine Throne, sink my Divine Kingdom, and trap me within this Seal in this Sea Area!"
"Yet today, I am still able to return! As for your gods, they cannot come to save you now!"
It waved a hand, and a dark light seemed to come alive, shooting into the distant ocean surface. It smashed into the water with a deafening roar, churning up monstrous waves. The terrifying waves caused the entire region to violently shake, and a wall of water dozens of feet high crashed down, smashing the uncontrolled naval vessels into the depths of the sea.
Behind Kuchamama, the colossal altar emitted a pitch-black glow, dyeing the entire Sea Area black and casting a deathly pale reflection on the faces of the numerous national leaders watching from their screens!
"What does he mean when he says our Deities cannot come to save us?" someone asked with profound worry. The leaders of the Nordic nations, in particular, exchanged anxious glances.
"Perhaps it is just like the gods of the Americas and the Christian deities from a while ago. They are temporarily unable to descend, which is why a monster like this was able to appear!" another person guessed.
Naturally, they did not believe that this so-called "Sea God" could truly annihilate their Realms. But suddenly having to deal with an enemy at the level of the Deities out of nowhere was hardly a pleasant situation for anyone.
Ultimately, everyone's pursuit of Transcendence had devolved into a pathetic illusion. Professor Thomas nodded slowly. "As expected, gaining Transcendent Power without effort often conceals a terrifying Price..."
