From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 332: Countermeasures from Both Sides

Chapter 332: Countermeasures from Both Sides

Caroline's journey, of course, was not heading south, but east.

To the south, the entire states of Arizona and New Mexico were already flirting with certain figures from the South, and the border regions had become a proselytizing ground for the Indigenous Arch-Priests.

It was now practically the territory of the original inhabitants. Many people of mixed heritage or impure bloodlines had rushed there, including quite a few wealthy tycoons and political figures.

Naturally, some Hollywood actors, wealthy farmers, and even major capitalists who possessed indigenous bloodlines had all flocked there as well!

As the saying goes, it was all driven by self-interest.

When these people realized their skin color could no longer bring them any benefits, they would decisively abandon their bloodline to embrace so-called civilization.

But with the return of the indigenous gods, once they discovered their original bloodlines were profitable, they naturally came crawling back.

This group made the situation around America even more restless and uneasy. Many people were either being figureheads or cozying up to certain Transcendent Beings to wait and see what happened. Only those supporters of Golden Hair in Texas were still diligently building their border wall.

As for whether they were actually building the wall or just after the forty-six billion dollars in construction funds, that was a topic for another day.

Holy Maiden Caroline certainly could not head south to face the followers of foreign gods. That did not align with the rules, nor did it fit the plans of the Church. Therefore, accompanied by several nuns, she traveled eastward, starting from Luo City and heading toward Illinois.

Along the way, she would pass through Nevada State, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, before finally arriving in New York.

In a sense, this was also a journey of proselytizing and discipline planned by the Church. Much like Moses' Exodus or the Crusades, it was a journey to spread culture and divine faith.

If she completed this journey, the rule of the Church in America would undoubtedly reach a climactic peak.

Because of this, almost the very moment Caroline stepped out of the church, people all over the world received a livestream notification!

Whether it was the major television networks in America or online platforms like Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, all received this notification. Helicopters and broadcasting vans were already in position.

Every action she took would be laid bare under the scrutiny of everyone, and every word she spoke would be analyzed by countless people.

She was stepping onto her predetermined path. She might achieve sainthood, but it was even more likely she would lose all standing and completely lose her divine faith!

"I refuse to believe this isn't deliberately arranged! These demons sure move fast!" The moment Caroline stepped out of the church to begin her journey, George and Lyon were already in position inside a car trailing behind her.

One was the Grandmaster of the Knights Templar, and the other was the Grand Inquisitor of the Inquisition. In the hierarchy of the Church, they sat at the very top.

Yet, Bennett Angus had still dispatched them to protect Caroline, strictly to prevent those demons from lashing out in desperation.

After all, Caroline's ecological niche was far too important, and the Church could not afford the tragedy of a second Joan of Arc.

Lyon's voice sounded particularly agitated, filled with clear dissatisfaction. "The attention from these people will only make Caroline's path forward even more difficult. A larger crowd could even trigger a greater crisis!"

In their expectations, Caroline was bound to cause some ripples, because the abilities of this Holy Maiden were absurdly powerful!

But that was supposed to happen midway through the journey, unlike now, where she was being watched by the entire world the second she set off.

Hearing Lyon's words, George gave a slight nod. "Yes, this is the time to test Holy Maiden Caroline's faith. If her faith is firm, these crises will transform into genuine, tangible support for the Church!"

"If her faith wavers... it will be a disaster for the Church!"

Hearing this, Lyon actually grew more resolute. "Caroline will walk forward with unwavering determination. This is her path!"

The two men were just preparing to continue driving forward when they noticed two men had appeared on the road ahead, blocking their path of pursuit.

"Please step aside, this is an interstate highway..." Just as George spoke those words, he noticed a sudden flash of blood-red light in the eyes of the two men!

The front end of their vehicle violently exploded, causing screams of terror to erupt all along the street!

"Ah! An explosion!" "Run!"

The people of America were truly battle-tested. The moment they heard the blast, they instinctively dove for cover. One could only say they had a wealth of practical survival experience.

Such a blast also clearly drew the attention of the aerial observers and those filming the Holy Maiden from the buildings. With an explosion that loud, it was hard not to notice.

"Dark energy? Wait! It's that bastard Lems!" In the very next second, Lyon leaped out of the car. His previously empty hand now gripped a spear of light that had materialized from thin air.

With his other hand, he pulled a seemingly miraculous set of equipment from the vehicle's trunk.

In the next instant, this equipment automatically equipped itself onto his body, forming a stunning suit of armor.

Naturally, this was no Transcendent power, but rather a set of combat armor directly 3D-printed using the Church's vast financial resources, boasting incredibly high physical defense capabilities.

For a Transcendent Being, especially those belonging to the Church, there was absolutely no need to worry about mental attacks, as their sheer devotion was the ultimate defense. However, their physical bodies were not flawless and required such a layer of protection.

This specialized armor, forged from tungsten and titanium alloys, could withstand point-blank fire from a .50 caliber bullet. Of course, they would still have to endure the kinetic impact themselves.

"George, yours!" Lyon tossed a set of equipment to George, who had also stepped out. The two men geared up in an instant, turning to face the enemies standing before them.

"I knew it! They definitely wouldn't let the Holy Maiden travel alone. The Church really sent two Transcendent Beings to escort her!" A reporter caught sight of the two men and instantly recognized their identities, surging with excitement!

Weren't these two the very same Transcendent Beings from New York?

Lyon Lankechi of the Knights Templar and Saint George Stacey were both illustrious Transcendent Beings. The scenes of them battling werewolves in New York had been caught on camera more than once.

Down in Luo City, movies based on their exploits had already begun filming. Their fame was truly monumental.

Through the reporters' camera lenses, holy light radiated from their bodies. Amidst the gasps of the onlookers, George drew a terrifying greatsword straight out of the void!

This sword was the greatsword bestowed by St. George, and it served as the very root of his Transcendent power!

Many bystanders witnessed this scene, and even more watched it unfold on the livestreams. Curiosity began to swell regarding the two men on the street who had refused to flee after the explosion, standing their ground before the Holy Knights.

George was the first to speak. "We hadn't even come to hunt you down, yet you dare present yourselves before us? Vlad III, Lems Oconnor!"

Lyon added, "Where is your army? Where are your disciples and descendants? Where did that pack of blood thralls and werewolves scurry off to?"

Lyon and Lems were true old acquaintances. They had previously clashed in the New York prison, so naturally, they were quite familiar with one another now. Without hesitation, Lyon thrust his glowing spear forward.

"Clang!" A crisp metallic ring echoed out. The opponents, who had initially appeared as just two regular men, began their transformation right before the watchful eyes of the public.

A horned demon over twelve feet tall and a pair of massive, unfurling bat wings instantly sent the city's population into an absolute uproar!

This was completely different from that night or any of the previous accidental footage. This was happening on a stage where all the reporters were prepped, every camera was rolling, and independent media influencers were heavily concentrated!

Right here on this stage, Transcendent Beings belonging to the Church were engaging in a spectacular clash against demons belonging to Hell!

In an instant, the crowd went absolutely wild, and this frenzy even rippled over to the neighboring streets.

"What? The Church's Transcendent Beings are facing off against a demon and a vampire on the next street over? Are you serious?"

"Are they all here for the Holy Maiden? We better keep a close eye on her—there might be some huge news breaking soon!"

"Is this the influence of the Holy Maiden? The moment she appears, even Transcendent Beings swarm the area? Not even the Pope gets this kind of treatment, right?"

The moment this news broke, intelligence agents across the globe were left completely bewildered. If even the Transcendent Beings were flocking to the Holy Maiden's side, should they still proceed with their operations?

If they went now, they would just end up getting flattened into pancakes, wouldn't they?
