Chapter 276: Let the Deception Begin!
Chapter 276: Let the Deception Begin!
Bai Yang's words were naturally obeyed by Alvin, and the two arrived at the extreme north almost immediately.
Here, they intended to intercept the otherworldly God who had crossed into this world, the entity possessing Medium Divine Power—Fang Ergu!
Bai Yang's reasoning was incredibly sound. "I refuse to believe that a deity with Medium Divine Power could cross that dimensional rift without paying a hefty price!"
"Even a Demigod has to pay a toll. Just because he managed to exploit a loophole in the trap's rules to enter this world does not mean he got off scot-free!"
"The fact that my little mechanisms detected him proves that his abilities have fallen short; he lacks the strength to even shield himself from the traps!"
Bai Yang's words filled Alvin with a great deal of confidence. "You are correct, Crown! If a deity with Medium Divine Power is truly not in their peak condition, we have a chance to obliterate him!"
"By killing him, whether we harvest his Godhead, his divine portfolio, or his Divine Nature, it will be of immense benefit to our future plans!"
Unlike their approach with Luowa, neither of them had any intention of negotiating with Fang Ergu. There was simply no reasoning with an Evil God.
Bai Yang actually possessed another Godhead in his arsenal—the Cold Godhead acquired from Luowa. However, the authorities attached to it had been stripped away, rendering it even less useful than his own Godhead Shards!
His own Godhead Shards were the true conduits capable of guiding the Divine Power and Wish Force of the God of Lies' Godhead. They were the Divine Power transmission mediums he had always relied upon.At the very least, the Wish Force from Luo City, Malmö, and now Kolkata could all be collected and centralized through these shards.
This was primarily because a Demigod's Godhead only contained authority, lacking a true divine portfolio. Without a divine portfolio, there was no way to commune with the true rules of reality!
Within the design of the Divine Pantheons in the Dylan Continent, a divine portfolio was usually a concept, a race, or an action, rather than a specific tool.
If it were the Godhead of a true God, even if all its authorities were stripped away, its fundamental characteristics would have already permanently evolved upon ascension. Specifically, it would possess the unique attribute of communion!
This point was incredibly important, to the extent that it essentially determined the disparity in Combat Power between Deities.
Furthermore, Bai Yang harbored a wild ambition. He currently held a Demigod's Godhead and a Godhead of Weak Divine Power. If he could secure a Godhead of Medium Divine Power, he might be able to completely decipher the underlying rules governing these divine cores.
Once he dismantled and analyzed this unique Godhead system, there would be ample room to perfect the new Divine System he was conceptualizing!
The creation contest between him and the mysterious God Above God was far from over!
Therefore, upon teleporting to the extreme north, they had The Core step forward first to scout the situation.
As a creation initially molded from a thousand points of Divine Power and later infused with an unquantifiable amount of Divine Power and Wish Force, The Core was incredibly durable. Not even an entity with Powerful Divine Power could easily destroy it, making it the perfect vanguard.
The Core did not disappoint Bai Yang. Although it was essentially a program, it appeared incredibly lifelike. The moment it stepped out of the spatial rift, the power of death immediately began to radiate from its form.
That was the power of the Underworld, and naturally, it was also the power of the virtual world known as Hell. Any potent energy derived from Souls fell entirely within The Core's domain of power!
This caused Fang Ergu, who had already prepared to launch an ambush, to lower his weapon in astonishment. The God of Thieves stared at The Core with extreme suspicion and slowly revealed his physical form!
"Such a vigorous aura of Divine Power... is this the creation of a Powerful Divine Power?" he muttered, voicing his speculation aloud, though he received no reply.
Hidden within a special isolated Plane, Bai Yang and Alvin watched the confrontation between The Core and the intruder. Bai Yang nodded in profound satisfaction. "Yes... just as we suspected. He did not arrive in this world completely unscathed!"
It made perfect sense. If a nearly uninjured God had crossed over, he would have already infiltrated human society by now, rather than cowering in this desolate tundra, biding his time.
Instantly, Bai Yang felt reassured. Taking control of The Core, he spoke in a frigid, mechanical tone. "Otherworldly God, you have trespassed where you do not belong! State your name!"
When facing a powerful opponent, one must project absolute confidence when issuing a demand. Only then could one convey a sense of fearlessness, or even disdain, thereby seizing the upper hand in the psychological battle.
Having played the role of the Creator God for so long, Bai Yang was exceptionally adept at this kind of manipulation. When dealing with a Medium Divine Power, he could not just throw raw Divine Power around like he did with Luowa. Deities of this caliber possessed true sight; they would instantly see through any False God constructed entirely out of raw energy.
Therefore, Bai Yang opted for the simplest and most foolproof method: using a powerful creation as a proxy to guide the enemy into overthinking and filling in the blanks with their own imagination.
Once the enemy had sufficiently scared themselves with their own assumptions, subtly guiding them as a Deity would likely yield miraculous results.
Just because an Evil God was chaotic did not mean he was a Fool. Chaotic evil was merely a classification from an outsider's perspective. From the Evil God's own viewpoint, he was simply extremely selfish, ready to shift his loyalties and stances at a moment's notice.
However, individuals like this were actually much easier to deceive, precisely because they were so hyper-focused on their own interests!
The Core was Bai Yang's guide in this grand deception.
"Respected otherworldly Deity, I am Fang Ergu. I wandered into this realm by accident. If my presence offends you, I will leave at once!" Fang Ergu's response solidified Bai Yang's hypothesis. His strategy was flawless and entirely logical!
After all, the amount of Divine Power invested into The Core exceeded the ten-thousand mark, which equated to a staggering one hundred million points of Wish Force!
For a Medium Divine Power, producing that much Wish Force was certainly possible, but it would be an agonizing expenditure.
Being able to afford it was one thing; carelessly using it to construct an inanimate object was another entirely. The sheer absurdity of a Transcendent golem like The Core possessing well over ten thousand points of Divine Power made it all the more terrifyingly prominent!
Fang Ergu could not fathom anyone constructing such a monstrosity, save for those absolute top-tier entities with Powerful Divine Power who treated Wish Force like dirt.
That meant the God he was currently conversing with had to be, at the bare minimum, a Powerful Divine Power. And not just a newly ascended level-sixteen entity, but a true apex predator at level eighteen, nineteen, or even a pinnacle level-twenty God!
Only a God with such overwhelming Powerful Divine Power could afford to squander Divine Power so casually, to the point of using it to sculpt a mere golem!
With this terrifying realization, Fang Ergu's expression grew even more subservient and tense, terrified that this unknown entity might shred him to pieces at the slightest sign of displeasure.
A flash of excitement crossed Bai Yang's mind. 'He took the bait!'
On the surface, however, he remained impassive, perfectly acting out the furious indignation of a resident Deity discovering a trespasser. "Unfamiliar Deity, unfamiliar power, and Wish Force with absolutely no tethers... Hah, are you just a stray dog without a home?"
If the one speaking had been a Weak Divine Power, Fang Ergu would have already bared his fangs and lunged for the kill!
Yet, the voice echoed from this bizarre stone statue, and the intoxicating waves of Divine Power rolling off it were enough to make him drool. He simply did not dare to act rashly.
After all, even the God of Dawn from the Dylan Continent could not squander Divine Power so recklessly. And that guy was backed by his father, the Lord of Radiance, a supreme God with a level-twenty Godhead, yet even he would not dare spend power so frivolously.
Therefore, Fang Ergu was absolutely certain that the mysterious Deity behind this proxy was an entity with Powerful Divine Power!
Thus, he voluntarily bowed his head. "Crown, having suffered defeat in a Divine War, I was forced to forcefully infiltrate this realm. I beg for your permission to stay... I can serve as your subordinate and assist you in invading our world! Surely, you would desire to harvest The Faithful from entirely different Planes, would you not?"
"Hmm..." Bai Yang appeared to fall into deep thought.
Just when Fang Ergu thought his silver tongue had worked its magic, the entity's subsequent words plunged him into an icy abyss. "Not interested!"
"Crown, that is an incredibly robust Divine Realm! Should you seize even a single foreign divine portfolio, you would experience an unimaginably massive surge in power!" Fang Ergu panicked, raising his voice. "That is infinitely more valuable than my meager existence!"
He had every reason to panic. If this supreme being had no interest in his home world, did that not imply the being was only interested in him?
It made ruthless sense. If he were in the other party's shoes, he would not care about invading an unknown, heavily guarded Divine Realm either. Why bother with all that risk when a perfectly helpless, stray God was standing right in front of him, ripe for the taking?
Devouring the foreign God right before him would yield immediate power without any side effects. It was the absolute perfect scenario!
"If that is how it must be, then I have no choice but to fight to the death..." Fang Ergu braced himself for a desperate, suicidal clash!
"What kind of inferior world is that? It merely possesses a world tier divided by Planes? I will not go!" the voice suddenly boomed.
"If you want me dead, I will take you down with—" Fang Ergu bellowed, only to freeze mid-sentence. "Eh?"
'Wait, this isn't how the script is supposed to play out!'
