Chapter 25: Mockery from the Demon
Chapter 25: Mockery from the Demon
"Ah! I'm on fire!" someone shouted loudly, but nobody paid him any attention because more people were shouting along with him.
All members belonging to the Garden Church had such flames burning on their bodies, looking utterly terrifying!
But although the flames burned on their bodies, these people felt no pain whatsoever.
It was as if... these flames didn't hurt.
There was no pain at all, as if it was just burning!
Though there was no pain, the burning continued, and soon someone discovered what was being consumed by the flames!
It was their bodies - their arms, legs, and feet were becoming fuel for the flames. In the fire, they were melting bit by bit like candles!
Priests, monks, clergy, nuns - regardless of gender or status, all were burning equally.
There was no pain, but the panic was undeniably real. Fear and terror originating from the depths of their souls began to emerge!
The moment they saw themselves melting, they screamed!"You're not the judge! You have no right to judge us!"
"You're not an angel! You're Lucifer's accomplice!"
"Save us! Please save us! We're innocent, we just... made some small mistakes!"
They couldn't accept this situation, so they could only shout loudly, as if trying to prove their innocence!
Some people approached Father Angus despite the flames.
The church's poor confidentiality system and the other party's recent performance had already proven this priest's special and extraordinary nature.
They pinned their hopes on this priest with supernatural power to save their lives!
"Father Bennett, he must be a fake angel, right?" someone asked hopefully, raising his half-melted arm.
"Angus! We were classmates! Save me!" someone shouted.
Another priest directly knelt before Angus, "Save me! I know I made mistakes, I'll spend the rest of my life repenting! Please save me!"
They burned with white flames, making the surrounding police officers avert their gaze and avoid their path.
They didn't dare touch these white flames either, only watching these people burn.
Angus Bennett looked at these former colleagues and classmates, feeling nothing but mockery.
Of course he couldn't possibly think Gabriel was fake, because the other had emerged from his own cross!
That utterly sacred feeling, that special experience, and the final shock had already told him this was real!
That left only one possibility - these people before him had truly committed evil deeds too numerous to record, deeds that even made Gabriel utterly furious!
He didn't even hesitate to satisfy Lucifer's demands to carry out judgment!
Just listen, listen to those verdicts! Just look, look at those suffering people!
In those scenes, everyone in the entire church had participated to some extent, which was why the angel was so angry.
Angus didn't indulge them at all, directly saying, "Repeat before me, have you ever committed such mistakes?"
Hearing this, they shook their heads frantically, "No! No! The demon forced this upon us! We never did these things!"
"You people... truly refuse to repent even facing death!" Angus understood - these people didn't actually know they were wrong, they just knew they were going to die.
Given any hope, they would choose to stubbornly resist rather than tell the truth.
Seeing Angus's silent expression, these people grew furious: "You won't help us? Then let's die together!"
They lunged at Angus, trying to transfer the flames on their bodies onto him.
Angus remained motionless, with no intention of fleeing or resisting, watching them as if looking at a group of dead people.
Even when the flames touched his body, they didn't ignite him, instead making him appear even more serene.
Angus pushed aside several people, ignoring their actions, walking through their burning bodies.
"Sigh!" Angus looked at them, feeling only pity and regret, "If you had properly studied Revelation, you would know that Holy Flames never ignite goodness and justice - they burn wickedness and malice!"
"If you truly hadn't committed grave sins, how could Holy Flames scorch your bodies and souls?"
He was a devout believer, he had a clear conscience, he was good and self-disciplined - how could he be ignited by such punishment fire?
"Hahahaha!" Lucifer watched this scene and laughed loudly, "You know, this is why I say someone helps me kill!"
"You angels are rigid, outdated, and unwilling to progress! All who disobey must be ended, all who don't comply must be cast down, all who break prohibitions - mortals may have forgiveness, but all rebels will be utterly annihilated!"
He was originally a Seraph, so he knew these things better than anyone.
Looking at these clergy screaming in fear under the threat of death, he took out the contract in his hand, "Beautiful, truly beautiful!"
"You hypocritical angels should have such a day too!"
Beside him, Gabriel raised his hand, and Bishop Ken Burke's body naturally ignited with white flames, beginning to melt like wax.
Ken Burke was the mastermind, so of course he would be punished. As for why he was ignited now - whether there was personal resentment involved, it certainly seemed so.
Raising his hand, looking at the white flames on his body, then glancing at the remaining people present, Lucifer said with a smile, "Contract completed! Hahahaha... I'm leaving, Gabriel! Give my regards to Yahweh for me!"
The oppressive aura slowly dissipated, leaving only the man standing in place.
At this moment, Angus suddenly understood!
No wonder Lucifer came personally! No wonder he was so calm and relaxed!
No wonder he laughed so freely!
He already knew this was a church scandal, which was why he accepted that small "contract" and came specifically!
He came to watch the show! And specifically to make the angels look bad, especially since it was Gabriel who came now!
The Archangel, the Seraph, God's second-in-command, yet forced to act for his demon contract.
This contrast, this sense of manipulating heaven and angels - this must have been his dream opportunity, right?
Perhaps in the future, he could mock heaven for a thousand years because of this!
Thinking this, Angus suddenly felt some horror - the angels were as ruthless, cold, and decisive as described in the Bible. So how would the human church that made them lose so much face be viewed by the angels?
Suddenly, Ken Burke let out a terrifying scream. He opened his eyes, looking at the flames on his body, "This... what's happening? What's wrong with me? Help! Save me!"
Through this scene, the watching crowd understood.
Lucifer had already left, leaving behind Ken Burke himself.
The punishment had already begun, and nothing could reverse it.
This chubby bishop, along with his subordinates, burned bit by bit in the punishment flames.
Meanwhile, in midair, the contract Lucifer left behind emitted a sigh that seemed satisfied, giving rise to a special wraith!
It was a haggard woman, staring at the bishop before her, making a sound of vengeance achieved: "Ken Burke, you raped my daughter, sent people to kill my husband, stole our family's money..."
"I pretended to be insane for ten years just to survive! Fortunately... Lord Lucifer answered my call! You're doomed!"
Her voice wasn't loud, nor did it carry hysterical emotion - instead it seemed very calm, "Come to hell with me! I'll wait for you there!"
But it was precisely this profound calmness that completely broke Ken Burke!
"I don't know you! You're slandering me!" He looked at Angus, as if wanting to prove his innocence, "I never did such things! She's an evil creature! She must have done this to me! Quickly, Angus, purify her!"
Angus shook his head, looking at Gabriel beside him, "Your Grace, what should we do now?"
Gabriel looked at Angus and nodded slightly, "You're good, a true servant of the Lord. Do what you think is right - the Lord is watching you!"
After speaking, the angel tapped the crystal on his chest, and cross-shaped light spread out, then transformed back into a silver cross that flew into Angus's hand.
"You handle the remaining matters, and warn everyone - all who sin will meet their end!"
The next moment, Caroline collapsed onto a nearby chair, and this Archangel hurriedly departed.
Meanwhile, the contract, along with the woman's wraith, dragged the bishop who had been roasted into droplets of wax and all the other ignited clergy around them, turning them into ashes!
Judgment completed, incident concluded.
"BANG!" The door was burst open by people outside, and sunlight poured into the chapel once more.
But now the chapel contained only corpses on the floor and a crowd of police officers. As for the remaining people from the church, only Angus standing and Caroline lying down remained.
And in the entire Garden Church, the only formal clergy member left alive was one nun.
Heaven's methods are no gentler than hell's!
