Chapter 24: Judgment

"Boom!" A roaring sound echoed in their ears!

Lucifer's shout seemed to summon something extraordinary—a blinding flame suddenly ignited right on the spot!

Directly in front of the cross, white flames appeared out of thin air and began burning.

Witnessing this scene, Lucifer extinguished the black hellfire at his fingertips and stood waiting for the flames to dissipate.

Soon, the flames burned out completely, yet nothing appeared.

However, Angus suddenly understood something. He stepped forward and extended his cross.

As the cross emerged, a special glowing cross suddenly shimmered in the previously empty space, resonating with Angus's cross.

A gentle yet solemn voice echoed throughout the entire space, "Lucifer, you have broken the rules by coming to the mortal world!"

"No rules broken here—I came following a contract!" Lucifer said with a smile. "Don't speak to me like that. Find a vessel in this place first—surely you can manage that?"

He pointed at Angus, "He's definitely not suitable, as you know! So, in this church, is there any body you can possess?"Hearing these words, though no figure appeared within the glowing cross, it seemed as if a gaze emerged. This gaze swept across everyone present.

"Everyone here is a sinner, all evil—can you find a vessel of goodness?" The words were teasing, but those who heard them felt only malicious chill!

"I can!" As soon as the words fell, the gaze identified its choice and shot out a beam of light.

Caroline Olson, who had been hiding and watching secretly from the back, was now guided and drawn forward by this light!

The nun had been here all along, but no one had noticed her until now when she emerged.

She slowly walked to the front and, under everyone's watchful eyes, touched the cross.

Then, she became enveloped in light—the radiant glow making everyone present squint.

This brilliance persisted for some time. Everyone watched, observing the scene without anyone speaking.

Meanwhile, behind the cameras, her information was delivered to Governor Newland within minutes.

"The Olson family's daughter?" Seeing this note, Newland suddenly thought of something, a mocking smile appearing on his face. "Then I'm already looking forward to that old fool Olson's reaction when he finds out about this!"

Being chosen by an angel meant this nun's life would be completely different from now on!

"Hiss..." A sound like a hot bread knife melting butter emerged. The light caused Lucifer's body to emit billowing black smoke at this moment.

Then, this young woman who had been a nun opened her eyes under everyone's gaze!

"Hum!" The moment those eyes opened, everyone felt their hearts stop!

What kind of eyes were these!

Completely pupil-less, devoid of any focus—just pure white eyes indifferently scanning everyone!

She also saw the cameras and seemed to perceive the people behind them.

Standing there, contrasted with the bishop's pitch-black eyes beside her, it was like the ultimate confrontation between angel and demon—one black, one white; one righteous, one evil.

Now, everyone knew she had been possessed by an angel!

At this moment, the nun turned toward the bishop, "You are defiling the Lord's sanctuary, Lucifer!"

"After all these years, haven't I defiled plenty? Why don't you come arrest me then, Gabriel?" Lucifer said casually, also revealing the identity of the being before them.

Hearing this, everyone present was stunned.

Gabriel? That Left Hand of God? The Angel of Punishment? The Archangel?

What kind of day was this? First Lucifer, now Gabriel—these mythical beings were arriving simultaneously?

Gabriel remained silent. If Lucifer were truly so easy to capture, he wouldn't have remained in hell for so long.

As long as he didn't appear in his true form in the mortal world, even the Lord couldn't capture him. "Then have you come to the mortal world to experience the Heavenly Sword?" Gabriel said.

"Angel of Judgment and Condemnation, Seraph Gabriel—today I want you to kill someone!" Lucifer said cheerfully. "Help this woman fulfill her contract!"

Angus suddenly looked up—was Lucifer insane? He said he couldn't kill anyone, then asked Gabriel to kill? And so arrogantly? Making an angel fulfill his demonic contract?

Everyone also thought Lucifer must have gone mad, uttering such words to provoke Gabriel. Given Gabriel's temperament in mythology, wouldn't he immediately fight back?

But they didn't hear Gabriel's rebuttal. This archangel possessing the young woman actually fell into rare silence.

She gazed at the bishop's face, information seeming to flow through her eyes as if searching for something...

Soon, an expression of fury filled her face, terrible resentment empowering her eyes!

In those eyes, everyone could see her rage!

"This church contains no trace of light! The horrific crimes you have committed make even angels wail!"

"As servants of the Lord, you have betrayed His will—this is blasphemy against the Lord of Hosts!"

"I, Gabriel, pronounce judgment here!"

"All who are guilty shall be purged; all who harbor desire shall descend to hell; all without faith shall be burned by the flames of punishment, consuming their bodies and scorching their souls!"

Then, indifferent words rang out, accompanied by the church bells and immortal hymns:

"The trumpet that once announced salvation in the Virgin's ear,

Today becomes the sword piercing the hearts of hypocrites!

You have woven olive branches into crowns of thorns,

Transformed the monstrance into weights for profit;

Laid velvet couches in confessionals,

Yet used scriptures to whip the backs of orphans and widows."

Hearing these words, many clergy showed fearful expressions and tried to leave, but when they stepped forward, a bloody cross blocked their path, rendering them immobile.

The hymn of judgment softly echoed throughout the church:

"Those who wear purple robes yet allow wolves to devour lambs!"

Then, a scene appeared before her eyes, before all observers:

Ken Burke grabbing a young girl's arm—a bruised, already dead body—stuffing her into a meter-long box, then throwing it before her parents...

The parents instantly went mad, but prevented by surrounding priests from advancing, could only scream in rage!

"Those who turn the sacrament of confession into brothel thresholds!"

The church priest stripped a young boy's clothes, then happily sent him into the small confessional, allowing two parishioners to pay and enter.

Soon, the boy's hoarse screams echoed from inside!

"Those who weave webs of lust in monasteries!"

Monks brought people into the church, performing lewd and rebellious acts beneath the cross in the chapel.

And the next moment, monks and nuns engaged in unethical acts during midnight in the church under the night sky!

"In the name of the Holy Father, I exercise the power of judgment!"

Finally, Gabriel completed his judgment within the hymns:

"Now, the seventh seal is broken,

Flint and fire shall burn three abominations:

The collection bag stained with blood, the gem-encrusted pulpit,

And the bronze staff engraved with 'Peace be with you'!"

In her hand, a mysterious crystal shimmered with a cross of light:

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit!

The echo of Ezekiel resounds here:

'I will hold the shepherds accountable for my sheep!'

All who concealed child abuse in council meetings shall be first to receive scorpion whips in the final judgment!

All who caused the little faithful to stumble shall be trampled by angels!

Those who thrice violated vows of chastity shall forever lose the name of Morning Star!"

"I, Gabriel, executor of judgment, condemn you for subversion, defilement, and arrogance!"

An ethereal longsword descended from the sky, judgment flames burning from the void.

Every clergy member present saw pure white holy flames igniting upon their bodies!

Judgment had begun!
