Chapter 138: Divine Warrior VS Modern Army

Chapter 138: Divine Warrior VS Modern Army

"You are Mr. Ivan, right?" Inside the boarding school, Jeff mustered his courage and struck up a conversation with the Divine Warrior before him.

"Yes, that is me!" Ivan nodded gently. His name circulating through certain echelons of this country had never been a secret anyway.

The San Diego Police Department was already a sieve that could not keep any secrets. Therefore, that piece of "top secret" information had become something anyone could buy with a little money.

In America, as long as there was money to be made, someone would inevitably do the job.

Jeff voiced his doubts. "I am curious. Have all these children already left?"

"Yes, they are all gone!" Ivan replied. "The moment you helped free them from their bonds, the power of Mictlan found them, guiding them down the path of death!"

It was precisely because of Jeff's compassion and kindness that he could stand before this terrifying warrior and converse with him so calmly.

Just as Jeff was about to ask something else, his assistant suddenly spoke up. "Boss, this is bad. The Governor of Alabama just posted on X, claiming he wants to seek justice for the dead state senators!"

"Seek justice?" Jeff froze. "How? Did they dispatch the military?"

"I am afraid so," the assistant said heavily. "They would not just level this place with artillery, would they?"Jeff looked at Ivan beside him and hurriedly urged, "Mr. Ivan, why do you not leave right now? They should not be able to stop you!"

Ivan shook his head. "A Divine Warrior does not retreat! These people arrived at the perfect time. They will serve as my sacrifices to Mictlan!"

He looked at Jeff, a faint smile appearing on his face. "You two should leave this place. After helping to lay our children to rest, you have earned the friendship of the Apache Tribe!"

After saying that, Ivan paid no more attention to the two behind him. Instead, he walked slowly toward the main gate. "In the name of the War God and the God of Sacrifice, K'ak' Tiliw, all enemies shall become offerings in this battle!"

By this time, the onlookers at the main gate had long vanished. They had all seen the statement from the Governor of Alabama, and some well-connected individuals had even posted pictures of the mobilizing National Guard!

Under the cover of night, the state's National Guard drove armored vehicles and tanks, escorted by helicopters, hauling their artillery as they sped down the interstate highway!

Under such circumstances, staying here would truly mean becoming target practice for those heavy weapons!

Moreover, they had clearly been on the move for some time. Even from up on this mountain, the heavy roar of engines could be heard echoing from outside.

That was the roar of tanks, the howl of humanity's peak weapons of war!

Meanwhile, the upper echelons of Alabama were gathered in the War Room, staring intently at the distant mountain with immense satisfaction in their eyes.

"Even if he can resist bullets, even if he possesses such tremendous power, I do not believe he can stand against an army!" the Governor declared with profound gratification, his eyes brimming with confidence. "If they could fight an army, they would not be hiding in a remote corner like they are now!"

"I want the whole world to know that Transcendent Beings are not invincible! Our weapons can harm them just the same, and even wipe them out completely!"

"When that time comes, I will possess prestige far surpassing Golden Hair and Nuland. Those two are political party leaders in vain! They do not even have the courage for supernatural combat. How can they possibly lead this country forward?"

Hearing his fanatical words, the surrounding people quickly offered their flattery. "Your power is unmatched, and your will is unparalleled! You will become the helmsman of America's new era!"

This scene of treating him like the sun was exactly the same as how Golden Hair was treated in the White House!

Soon, these people stopped their fawning, for they spotted Ivan's silhouette standing before that small mountain.

The powerful Transcendent warrior held skeletons in his hands, carefully laying them out at the base of the mountain. He finished his task just before the army arrived.

Those tiny bones belonging to the children were all laid out there. Then, Ivan turned to face the human army. The sight of him standing alone against the encroaching force gave off an indescribable sense of heroic tragedy!

"Mr. Ivan, you will die! You cannot withstand such terrifying power!" Jeff shouted from the sidelines. "You can choose to leave! That is what you should do right now!"

Naturally, they had seen the army's arrival, so they kept a safe distance and only yelled from afar.

Ivan waved them off. He had already made up his mind long ago.

"A Divine Warrior does not flee. Besides, I have no desire to run!" he muttered.

At this moment, many thoughts raced through Ivan's mind. He thought of the plight he and Laila had faced. He thought of his pregnant wife and the inhumane torture she had endured!

Was the root of this torment not simply because people like them were weak and powerless in this world? And was it not the exact same weakness and powerlessness that had doomed the tribespeople lying before him?

He had already watched such tragedies unfold with his own eyes. How could he stand by and let it happen all over again?

"I want to ensure that every member of the tribe can walk through this nation without feeling a shred of fear! Such tragedies cannot be allowed to happen again and again!"

"If I die in battle, please go to the tribe. Tell the High Priest to burn Laila and me together! Our souls will cross every mountain, every river, and every Hell, until we finally reach Mictlan!"

He bellowed at the top of his lungs. Embracing his longing and hope for Laila, he charged headlong into the fray!

Even if resurrection was impossible, the sheer will and power within his heart had completely materialized, driving him forward with an unstoppable momentum!

The distant army naturally saw Ivan's charge. Watching this solitary figure sprint toward them at blinding speed, they did not dare to be careless!

The commander immediately barked out orders. "Calibrate your aim! Give our Native American warrior a little shock from our modern weaponry!"

As the command was passed down, ten tanks, ten armored vehicles, and five artillery pieces simultaneously locked onto Ivan. Without hesitation, the final order was given: "Fire!"

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

The deafening thunder of artillery rang out, making everyone who had been watching from the sidelines shoot up from their seats!

The live footage from the scene was broadcast across all of America. People from every region wanted to see exactly how this Transcendent Being would fare against an attack of this magnitude.

Soon, the smoke and dust cleared, revealing Ivan's somewhat battered figure to the world.

The bombardment had been incredibly dense. Even though Ivan had tried his best to evade, he had still taken the brunt of several explosive shells.

His chest was already bleeding, and his body trembled. This sight brought expressions of pleasant surprise to many faces. "Attacks like this can actually injure a Transcendent!"

Yet Ivan continued to press forward. The commander issued another order, "Reload the shells! Second volley!"

The commander had grown much more confident. As long as the monster before them could bleed, they had no reason to fear. As long as they poured on enough firepower, sooner or later, they would accomplish the feat of Deicide!

Ivan fell to his knees amidst the roar of artillery fire, but there was little despair on his face. Instead, he looked incredibly peaceful, knowing he had done everything in his power.

"O K'ak' Tiliw... O Eagle God... Please forgive my disrespect, but I can no longer stand!"

He could feel the tranquility of death, and naturally, the birth of freedom. His soul felt as though it was drifting out of his physical shell, no longer bound by his mortal body!

Right at that moment, a skeleton slowly materialized from the black mist right in front of him.

Stained with his blood, the skeleton gazed at him and gave a slight nod. "You have done well, warrior of the gods. K'ak' Tiliw will be proud of you!"

"So, can you revive once more to officiate this festival of death for me?"

Ivan lifted his head with great difficulty. Looking at the skeleton before him, his eyes were filled with unbelievable shock. "To think it is you... Please forgive my rudeness. I cannot properly greet you, Crown..."

"I am willing to accept your directive! Death cannot stop my devotion to you!"

Hearing this, the skeleton nodded. It extended a single bony finger, instantly revitalizing the exhausted and near-dead warrior back to full strength!

"Until this sacrifice is complete, you shall be an undying warrior. Go forth, undying warrior! Eliminate your enemies, force them into submission, and capture their leader to serve as the offering for this sacrifice of death!"
