From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 121: You Know, This Is the US Military

Chapter 121: You Know, This Is the US Military

Angus certainly did not know about Jose's actions, and right now, he had no time to worry about anything happening outside the barrier of light.

After the prayer ended and the curtain of light descended like an inverted bowl, the price of this divine miracle clearly manifested. Other than him, the rest of the clergy had all collapsed to the ground.

For these people, who lacked any preparation or sacrifice ritual, the side effects of directly praying alongside Angus were simply too massive.

Their minds simply could not withstand the heavy pressure from another realm. Their entire mental states had collapsed, leaving them with only the ability to gasp for breath.

However, after this special ritual, Angus was certainly not lacking helpers by his side.

The people who had been teleported here and those who were already present exchanged glances. In just a few words, they had come to a mutual understanding.

That understanding was simple: they were indeed facing an apocalyptic crisis, but they had also been incredibly lucky to encounter a divine miracle!

This Cardinal in his red robes, leading the monks, had successfully accomplished their salvation.

Outside, the torrential rain poured down, fierce winds howled wildly, and the tsunami raged.

A house was swept up by the seawater and crashed violently against the light barrier, yet it failed to harm anyone inside in the slightest. The moment the holy light descended, everyone present became devout believers. Many elderly rednecks even dropped to their knees right where they stood and began to pray.

Those with shallower faith, or perhaps simply the bolder individuals, had already gathered around Angus.

"Respected Cardinal, Your Eminence!" someone spoke up eagerly. "Thank you for saving us. Is there anything we can do to help you?"

Hearing their words, Angus smiled with relief. "If you are willing, please help me pray to the Lord. Thank Him for saving us, and thank Him for protecting their lives!"

It was only after experiencing this ritual that Angus truly realized how reckless he had been.

The ritual just now was actually a shortened version of a war guardian ritual he had read about in a book. The true version required a grand sacrifice ritual, tens of thousands of the faithful, and at least three Cardinal-level clergy members presiding over it.

Yet he had just bypassed almost the entire ritual, even skipping a large portion of the prayers, entirely to finish it before the tsunami struck.

The ritual was indeed completed, but the price was devastating. Angus did not even know if these clergymen, bishops, and priests would ever wake up again...

They had suffered severe injuries. Even if it was power bestowed by the merciful Lord, it was not something their mortal bodies could withstand.

Upon hearing Angus's request, many elderly believers immediately knelt down and began to pray softly over the people lying on the ground.

No one else could see anything unusual, but Angus could clearly see their prayers transforming into streams of warm currents that flowed into the bodies of the fallen clergy.

'Thank goodness, as long as it works... That means there is still a chance to absolve my guilt!' Angus thought to himself. As he looked at the growing crowd around him, a radiant light instantly enveloped his body.

His glowing figure caused many to fall to their knees once again.

These believers had spent their entire lives listening to stories and putting their divine faith in God. Over the years, many had likely harbored doubts or wavered in their beliefs.

But after witnessing the divine miracle today, those past doubts and wavering thoughts instead became the prelude to a much more devout faith!

The radiant light on Angus was the undeniable proof of this concentrated eruption of divine faith.

Nothing could capture hearts and divine faith more easily than a miraculous salvation. The sheer volume of faith flowing in even left Bai Yang, observing from the sidelines, astonished.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Angus was quoting the Book of Ephesians. It meant the essence of salvation: actively God-given, received by humans through faith.

There were simply too many people crowded around. He could not tend to them all, nor did he have the time to try, so he could only use this method to soothe their hearts.

The transcendent power, fueled by his firm faith and proficient divine arts, was gradually becoming second nature to him.

These words rippled directly through the entire barrier of light, echoing in everyone's ears. It gradually calmed them down, prompting them to sit slowly and pray toward the heavens.

Every single person here was at least a shallow believer. Their prayers made the light barrier increasingly stable and completely eliminated any chance of the stampede Angus had been worrying about.

Everyone felt a deep sense of peace in their hearts. This tranquility would last until the crisis was completely over.

However, just as he breathed a sigh of relief and looked at the crowd before him, a sudden tremor from above caused panic to spike through the masses once more. Unbeknownst to them, the giant double-headed serpent, Atlas, had already approached the light barrier and noticed the peculiar situation here.

Its two terrifying heads surrounded the barrier from front and back, emitting loud hissing sounds as if inspecting the glowing shield and the people trapped inside.

[Double-Headed Giant Serpent Atlas]

It showed no immediate intention to attack the light shield, but its mere gaze was enough to make many people's hearts stop in sheer terror.

Everyone had watched movies and knew how terrifying giant beasts could be, but who had actually seen a horrifying monster measuring hundreds of meters long, with heads stretching over ten meters alone?

Behind it, the massive tsunami was still raging. Although it was noticeably smaller than before, it still possessed enough destructive force to obliterate everything in its path.

Angus stared up at Atlas. The cross on his chest flickered incessantly, as if warning him that this serpent was immensely dangerous and horrifying.

Atlas simply shifted its body slightly, toppling a hundred-meter-tall hotel outside the barrier as easily as if it were made of toy blocks. This movement brought it even closer to the light shield.

Those with sharper eyesight could even see its forked tongues licking the glowing barrier. It looked exactly like a predatory warning right before a strike.

Yet Angus knew that the monster before them had no real desire to attack. It seemed content to merely linger around the area.

'Do not provoke it. We should be able to hold out a little longer until another Transcendent Being arrives!' Angus thought slowly. As long as it did not launch an attack, he could call Leon or George over once the tsunami passed.

He firmly believed that the arrival of the two Divine Favored would definitely turn this dire situation around.

After all, he was the only one left standing right now. With no clergymen or bishops to assist him, he was completely powerless to do anything else.

This giant serpent was clearly no ordinary creature. A unique glow of divine nature shimmered across its scales, proving it was a monster far stronger than any demon. It might even be a mythical behemoth from myths and legends, and he truly had no confidence in facing it alone.

However, some people were not nearly as patient and steady as Angus. Take, for instance, the American Southern Command.

Through the dual surveillance feeds from satellites and early warning aircraft, they had a clear view of the situation at the coast.

Just moments ago, they had been shouting and calling everyone over to "come look at God." After all, the light barrier Angus created was simply too miraculous. His display—standing before the massive crowd in his red robes—looked exactly like a prophet straight out of myths and legends.

At the very least, every single person in the entire fleet had become a devout believer at this moment. They had watched with their own eyes as a heavenly kingdom was established right there on earth.

Naturally, they also witnessed the appearance of the giant serpent, and that sparked an idea.

"General, this snake looks like it's going to attack the light barrier!" an observer reported. "Should we step in and help them?"

The fleet was full of Americans. Whether they were Catholics, Protestants, or general Christians, it made no real difference. They were all utterly convinced that the divine miracle before them was the descent of the Lord.

Because of this, they were all wondering: if they helped out now, would it be easier to earn the favor of certain exalted figures?

If a mere observer could think of this, the generals certainly could too. Several high officials exchanged glances, all agreeing that this was a highly promising opportunity.

They were obviously not devout believers themselves, but building a good relationship with the Catholic Church—which was currently experiencing a surge akin to raging fire and boiling oil—seemed to carry no downsides.

At the very least, it would establish some goodwill for the next time they crossed paths with this Cardinal, wouldn't it?

With that thought in mind, they nodded in unison, convinced that this plan held great potential!

Their proposal was quickly reported to the Pentagon and the White House, receiving rapid approval from both. Those high-ranking VIPs were also extremely eager to see whether their weapons could inflict actual damage on such a monster.

As for the potential consequences of failing to defeat it? That was never even considered. A few people might die—so what? What was the big deal?

Thus, it did not take long before the deafening roar of missiles tore through the skies from various locations across Florida. From missile boats, terrestrial launch bases, and mobile missile vehicles, multiple Tomahawk cruise missiles were launched, all locked onto the giant serpent on Miami Beach.

Accompanied by the shrieking whistles and bright flashes in the sky, the people on the beach finally noticed the missiles streaking through the clouds.

They were ecstatic. It turned out their country had not abandoned them after all! They were firing missiles to relieve them from this deadly crisis!

Only Angus slapped his forehead in sheer exasperation. If the tsunami had not destroyed the local infrastructure and cut off cell service, he really wanted to make a phone call and interrogate Golden Hair directly!

Are you all completely stupid? Why would you launch a preemptive strike when the monster has not even shown any real hostility yet?

He felt a sudden, terrifying palpitation in his chest. These high officials, who completely misunderstood the transcendent, were going to get everyone here killed!
