From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 119: Heavenly Protection Descends

Chapter 119: Heavenly Protection Descends

"It looks like this incident might weaken America's national credibility!" Bai Yang said cheerfully as he watched Angus gradually moving against the flow of the crowd.

This naturally did not matter to him. After all, Angus's actions perfectly matched his persona.

Being able to harvest Wish Power in front of so many people was undoubtedly worth it no matter how you looked at it!

As for America's national credibility... well, did this country even have such a thing?

Their mayor had once publicly stated that when left without water or electricity, the common people had to survive on their own, and the state had no obligation to rescue them.

This nation was the ultimate example of Social Darwinism, where capital was the most important thing, and the populace was merely a negative asset.

As he was enjoying the show, Alvin came to his side. "Crown, the person you need, Alex Sheffield, is already on his way. His reason for coming this time is to uncover even bigger news!"

"Excellent!" Bai Yang said with a smile. "The final actor is in position. Let us harvest the Wish Power first, and then shape history! This time, I want it all!"

His scheme this time was massive. Blending several regions, different divine pantheons, and various styles of events together naturally meant this would not end as a simple, isolated incident.

This tsunami was nothing more than an appetizer for this grand event! The true secrets lay in the deeper layers, yet to be revealed!

But there was no rush. He still had plenty of time. Before the secret coordinates of this world were discovered, there was time for everything...

...

"Cardinal Angus!" The members of the Church did not arrive slowly. Even braving the heavy rain, they smoothly made their way to the seaside.

Then, they saw the tsunami advancing toward them like a massive wall of water. Right in front of the tsunami was a gigantic serpent's head, watching them with a highly peculiar gaze!

The serpent's eyes held no emotion, yet they brimmed with a terrifying deterrence. It was simply too massive, so large that just looking at it made one tremble in absolute horror.

Hearing their voices, Angus turned around. "You are here? Good. As the faithful of the Lord, you are at least qualified in this regard!"

He pointed at the crashing waves and the giant serpent before them, then pointed at the beach behind him, where tens of thousands of people were trapped under the pouring rain, unable to leave. He spoke softly:

"The Book of Romans says: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

"The Book of Isaiah says: He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities... the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all."

"The Lord is destined to save the people of the world, and the Lord is destined to resolve crises. Therefore, at this moment of crisis, I have come here!"

As Angus spoke these words one by one, his body gradually began to emit a radiant white light. "I cannot represent the Lord, but I can represent myself and the Church to save them in this crisis!"

"I hope to receive your help. With your assistance, I hope to accomplish this great work of salvation!"

"But I will also tell you the whole truth. The tsunami is coming, and the colossal sea beast Atlas is undoubtedly a ferocious monster. I cannot guarantee that everyone will survive. Therefore, this is a voluntary prayer ritual. If anyone does not wish to stay, I will not convict them of any sin; instead, I will send them away safely!"

Upon hearing his words, the gazes of everyone present hardened. Angus's words were incredibly frank. Death was right in front of them, and what they needed to do was find a path to survival before death claimed them.

At this moment, everyone could feel their blood surging. Since the unfaithful and the blasphemers had already been weeded out during the previous judgment, everyone present was now a devout believer.

When Angus spoke, their divine faith automatically filled their minds. An unparalleled fervor nearly pierced through their entire will!

Everyone raised their heads and looked at Angus. Finally, the person at the forefront said, "Cardinal Bennett, this is not a danger, but our glory!"

"The Lord is watching us from Heaven. He bore our sins, He prays for our deeds, and He blesses our bodies... This is what we ought to do, this is the action we must take!"

"May the Lord in Heaven see us walking on earth, see us honoring Him as one, and see us saving the multitudes on the ground..."

Seeing their attitude, Angus revealed a gratified smile.

Fortunately, the Church had not rotted completely to the core. There were still righteous and loyal individuals like these who strictly adhered to the doctrine and maintained their faith in the Lord. This was a good thing!

But time waited for no one. As the minutes and seconds ticked by, the tsunami grew larger and larger. The rain, however, lightened slightly, allowing many people to see the colossal sea serpent much more clearly.

This was a two-headed serpent. It did not have two heads side by side; rather, both its front and tail ends were gigantic serpent heads. It churned within the ocean, bringing endless terror to the people on the shore.

After noticing the tsunami, many of the people on the beach had already begun to surrender to despair.

After all, with the torrential rain and the tsunami right before their eyes, this terrifying apocalyptic crisis pressed down on them like an invisible sledgehammer, completely crushing their desire to flee.

Indeed, even if they tried to run now, would they still make it in time?

Some people returned from the outskirts, bringing them even more suffocating news. There were roads outside, but there were no longer any cars.

The roads were blocked by floodwaters, and the evacuation routes had vanished. They were trapped.

Weeping, despair, and agony filled the air. The hopeless masses were putting on a dramatic final act before death.

Meanwhile, some people slowly sat down, savoring whatever comfort they could find. Taking a few steps to face the tsunami was no different from facing it right where they stood. Resting now meant they could at least die a little more comfortably.

These people slumped down with self-deprecating smiles, wanting to enjoy a final shred of peace before death. Then, they noticed the numerous members of the Church on the beach.

"Bishops, priests, monks, nuns... What are so many clergy members doing here? Are they hoping to push the tsunami back with their prayers?"

Someone voiced a mocking remark, but no one around him echoed the sentiment.

This disappointed the mocker. Could they not even crack some dark humor right before dying?

He lifted his head, and then he saw the reason why everyone remained silent.

Under the guidance of a cardinal in red robes, these Church clergy members slowly sat in a circle. They used small knives to slit their wrists, letting their blood drip into the center of their gathering.

Despite the pouring rain, the water could not breach the radiant light surrounding them, allowing these people to continue their ritual on completely dry sand.

This curtain of light suddenly gave the despairing crowd a glimmer of confidence. "I heard that the Lord displayed a divine miracle in New York. Could it be..."

Everyone heard these words, and the despair in their eyes seemed to ease slightly. Hopeful gazes were cast toward the Church members sitting there!

Crossing their arms over their chests, they dropped to their knees, surrounding Angus, and commenced the true apocalyptic prayer!

First, of course, was Angus's prayer:

"Oh, Creator of the celestial stairway!

My breath has been choked by the slime of the abyss,

The enemy has bored through the earth beneath my feet with the maggots of lies—

But the tenacity of life will build an eternal fortress right here!"

A brilliant white light pierced through the cross on his chest, reflecting upon the crowd. It left everyone who had not fled—those on the beach and in the hotels—staring in pure astonishment.

Next came the collective prayer of the masses:

"By the raging flames of the King of Heaven and the Lord of Hosts,

Commanding:

Michael to lead the battle angels, using their seraphic wings to cleave the sulfurous clouds!

Raphael to hold the Marlboro herb pouch to heal the poisoned wounds!

Gabriel to sound the horn and shatter the shackles of evil thoughts!"

The names of the three Archangels felt like endless musical notes blanketing everyone, filling their bodies with a surge of comfort and stability. It also caused a pair of dazzling wings shimmering with white light to flash across this dark beach, shining brilliantly like a beacon!

Finally, everyone stood up, faced the sky, and prayed aloud:

"We beg for the radiance of Mount Tabor,

To lay a rainbow bridge in this realm of decay—

To guide the lost sheep to step forth and crush the serpent's skull!

This flesh and blood body shall serve as the final sacrifice for Your path of glory!"

"Amen!"

After the prayer ended, the white light converged upon their bodies. Ultimately, right before everyone's eyes, it soared into the sky, bearing the wings of angels and the power of heaven and earth, before descending from the heavens once more!

The pillar of light rained down upon Angus, bringing him a sudden rush of profound enlightenment.

The cardinal in red robes slowly flew high into the sky, allowing every single person to see his figure. Then, he waved his hand. "The Lord says, every faithful believer deserves a land of freedom!"

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people."

Radiance shimmered across the sandy beach. An inverted hemisphere of light materialized over this vast expanse, and everyone in the vicinity suddenly found themselves safely enclosed within it.

"The Lord will bestow His grace, not for Himself, not for others, but solely as a blessing for the faithful!"

Angus's voice echoed in everyone's ears, letting them know clearly exactly who had saved them!

Right at that very moment, the tsunami outside came crashing down with a deafening roar!

The massive waves capable of destroying everything slammed into this shield of light, completely unable to advance even a single inch!

Despair would always give rise to even greater hope, and a divine miracle of this magnitude was no different from a massive leek feast, ready to be harvested to the roots!
