From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 114: An Unconventional Trial

Chapter 114: An Unconventional Trial

"They possess different powers, different origins, and different faiths!"

"The only similarity is that they both possess abilities akin to foresight!"

Bai Yang was also quite curious about a battle between the Transcendent Beings he had shaped. The clash between Leon and Remus was a battle between a knight and a demon, characterized by brutal, physical Full-Force Blows.

Because compared to their physical strength, their Transcendent Abilities were not worth mentioning.

But this time, the confrontation between Angus Bennett and He Sai was completely different.

Angus Bennett's power stemmed from the Cross gifted by Bai Yang, or rather, from his own Divine Faith and the descent of Transcendent Power.

That was the most fascinating part. He was a Transcendent Being whom Bai Yang had never "indoctrinated." He was a Transcendent Being who acted purely on his own understanding. His power was derived entirely from his Knowledge, the guidance of the crystal on Carolyn Olsen's chest, and his own sublime Divine Faith.

Angus Bennett was like an ascetic, applying these powers bit by bit to bless and strengthen himself.

He read all kinds of books, slowly arming himself with Divine Faith and Knowledge. Though he appeared entirely unremarkable, he had managed to consolidate numerous Transcendent Powers in a very short amount of time.

He was the teacher of the Holy Maiden Carolyn Olsen, the source of Knowledge sought by the Holy Knight Leon, the Priest highly respected by Saint George, and the Planner who discussed the future of The Church with Pope Mario.Bai Yang was curious about his future and refrained from interfering in his affairs, simply watching as he made his way to this point step by step.

As another embodiment of Knowledge, He Sai lacked Angus Bennett's environment, background, and path of growth. He also lacked the other man's Divine Faith and perseverance. The Knowledge he possessed was obtained entirely through exchange.

He Sai's exchanges and Angus Bennett's studying were essentially both processes of self-upgrade.

In a sense, this was a clash between a righteous and an evil Mage.

"Then, Crown, who do you think will win?" Alvin asked.

Bai Yang waved his hand dismissively. "Do not seek victory or defeat every single day. That is not what we need to care about. Who wins or loses is unimportant. What matters is that I shaped both of their existences. How could I possibly let the two of them clash here so quietly?"

Two Transcendent Beings he had created fighting privately in a place barely anyone knew about—how much Wish Power could that possibly generate?

He needed to focus on nurturing people. Killing Transcendent Beings was something that could be done in the future; there was no need for it right now.

He was not a God accustomed to slaughter. The benefits these people could bring while alive far outweighed their value in death!

"Therefore, we stirred up a storm in Luo City and triggered a volcano in Manhattan. How could we let this port city called Miami host just a simple battle between two Divine Favored?"

Bai Yang spoke casually, "Let them converse here for a while. We are taking a trip to the Gulf of Mexico!"

...

"It seems you are quite the important figure!" Looking at Angus Bennett's attire and Yujin Freize's face, He Sai asked curiously, "Who are you?"

Angus Bennett suddenly frowned. 'Why do this person's words sound so stiff? It is as if he barely knows how to speak English.'

"Vatican special envoy, Special Cardinal of the Catholic Church, Temporary Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Miami, and Parish Priest of St. Mary's Cathedral, Angus Bennett!" Angus Bennett answered rigidly. "Now it is your turn to answer my question, unknown Cultist!"

"I am no Cultist!" He Sai retorted in dissatisfaction. "I am He Sai Carmen, the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Solomon Cult, an Archbishop acknowledged by a Demon God!"

"A Demon God? A Demon God acknowledged by whom?" Angus Bennett pressed further, pointing at Yujin Freize beside him. "What acknowledged Demon God allows you to privately capture an Auxiliary Archbishop of The Church?"

Hearing this, Yujin Freize was so moved he nearly burst into tears!

Sure enough, The Church had not forgotten his hard work and contributions over the years. To think that this newly arrived Cardinal would come directly looking for him!

Seeing this man arrive alone, showing absolutely no fear in the face of such Transcendent Power, Yujin Freize felt that he was saved!

"An Auxiliary Archbishop? If your Church is full of trash like this, no wonder fewer and fewer people believe in you these days!" He Sai scoffed. "Are you here to avenge him, or to uphold justice?"

As a Prophet, He Sai could glimpse a fraction of the future. For instance, he had foreseen the arrival of this man, Angus Bennett, ahead of time.

Similarly, he could see even more of the past. This was an inherent talent that came with his special ability of foresight.

Therefore, looking at this Cardinal, this messenger of Holy Light who appeared so great, radiant, and righteous, he decided to launch a psychological assault to Attack the Heart!

"This Bishop standing before you has recently been selling indulgences. You should know about this, right?"

Hearing these words, Yujin Freize opened his mouth wide, desperately wanting to argue. Such things could only be done in secret, never spoken aloud! The Catholic Church had abolished indulgences nearly five hundred years ago. Having it exposed now was practically a death sentence!

Unfortunately, he did not even get the chance to defend himself. With a casual wave of He Sai's hand, a rock flew over and gagged his mouth.

"I know now!" Angus Bennett stated.

He had the ability to discern the truth of spoken words. Thus, he knew He Sai was not lying. Yujin Freize, this audacious fool, was genuinely selling indulgences openly in this city.

What sheer audacity!

He Sai was not finished speaking. "He is also the biggest employer of the local Gangs. He has killed many Protestants and even hired someone to assassinate a certain Bishop in the Miami area!"

"Mr. Yujin Freize is also the biggest client of the local human smugglers. He loves taking in Undocumented Immigrants to what he calls a resettlement area, but in reality, it is a red-light district run by a Gang!"

"He is also the largest local supplier of blood and plasma, the backer of two underground councilmen, the owner of five underground clinics, and a regional organ trafficker..."

"Shall I continue, Sir Cardinal?"

Looking at Yujin Freize's completely withered expression and Angus Bennett's cold gaze, He Sai asked with a malicious smirk, "I would love to know—as a special envoy from the Vatican, do you intend to save his life, or will you let me broadcast his crimes to the public?"

Hearing these words, Angus Bennett finally understood exactly how Archangel Gabriel must have felt back at the Garden Cathedral!

This man was clearly on their side, yet the very first thing he had to do upon arriving was clean up the man's filthy scandals.

The traits of the Cross told him that He Sai had not uttered a single lie.

Angus Bennett waved his hand. Light radiated from his body, extracting the stone from Yujin Freize's mouth and tossing it aside. "Mr. Yujin Freize, tell me now. Is what he said true?"

"Of course it is not true, Cardinal Bennett!" Yujin Freize shouted loudly, his gaunt face filled with piety and Divine Faith. "I am the most outstanding Auxiliary Archbishop in the Miami area! Anyone can attest to that!"

"I spend every day at the Church handling all sorts of affairs. It is absolutely impossible for me to do the illegal and blasphemous things he claims!"

"He is merely slandering me, using me to divert your attention. You must realize this!"

Angus Bennett looked at the man's earnest face, but his mind drifted back to that day at the Garden Cathedral, recalling the confrontation between Lucifer and Archangel Gabriel. He fell into an Unexplained Silence before nodding slightly. "If I had not realized that not a single word you just said was true, I might have actually believed you, Mr. Yujin Freize!"

"I am afraid you will not live to see a trial by the Religious Tribunal or have His Holiness the Pope personally read your verdict, because even The Lord cannot tolerate such Blasphemy of Divine Faith!"

Yujin Freize wanted to speak again but found that he could not even make a sound. Angus Bennett had already stepped in front of him and placed a hand on his head, using the power of the Holy Light to read his Sins.

He truly lived up to the title of a border city Bishop; it seemed each one of them led an incredibly colorful life.

This Bishop's life experiences left Angus Bennett simply amazed—A Sight to Behold—and thoroughly extinguished any thoughts he had of allowing the man to achieve Redemption.

Sins of this magnitude could not be atoned for. However, he could not simply let the man die, either, or else Hell would gladly receive a new general!

Ultimately, Angus Bennett raised his hand. His appointment from the Vatican granted him temporary judicial authority over the Clergy:

"In the name of Cardinal Angus Bennett, I hereby announce your judgment: You shall be exposed to the sunlight to repent for your crimes!"

"You shall not die easily unless you completely repent!"

"For every step you take in this city, you must kowtow to every passerby in hopes of seeking their forgiveness!"

"If you fail to comply, you shall suffer the agony of a blazing inferno scorching your chest and the torment of being ensnared by thorns at every moment!"

"This shall be your Redemption, and this shall be your penance. Amen!"

His words were calm, but the judgment struck like Divine Thunder!
