Chapter 694: Someone Got Kidnapped
Chapter 694: Someone Got Kidnapped
The matter of perfume making cannot be delayed.
As soon as Nora Northwood’s health recovered, her heart was completely immersed in the fragrance lab.
The busyness of work kept her from paying much attention to the outside world, even to the fate of the Woodward Family after they plotted against Jasper Sinclair.
Night, nine o’clock.
Nora Northwood was working overtime as usual, and when she left VK, her head was spinning.
The night was deep, and a crescent moon hung high in the sky, lighting the path for pedestrians.
The person with the tote bag hailed a taxi at the roadside, "To Crimson Hill Villa."
The driver was a man in his forties, his face largely obscured by an N95 mask, making it difficult to see his features.
Nora Northwood bent down to get into the car, habitually sending the license plate number and her location to Jasper Sinclair, indicating she was on her way home.
The whole time, she was looking down, fiddling with her phone, completely unaware that the driver was closely watching her every move through the rearview mirror.
Halfway through the drive, the car suddenly stopped.
Nora Northwood looked up and saw there was a traffic accident ahead, conveniently for the driver.
A male voice came from the front: "There’s a collision ahead, it’ll be a while before the road clears. I’ll take another route and ensure you get home on time."
"No need, let’s wait it out."
Before Nora could finish speaking, the driver had already decided to turn the car around.
Although she was displeased, she didn’t make a fuss, thinking: Working late at night isn’t easy.
Unbeknownst to her, such kindness nearly led her down a hellish path.
As the car changed routes, the area became increasingly desolate.
In Nora’s memory, this route was unfamiliar, so she asked the driver, "Are you sure we’re on the right path?"
"We’re fine, I’ve been doing this for over ten years, I know every corner of Stanton City."
Nora’s eyes darkened as she suddenly recalled that the driver’s hands looked clean and smooth, unlike those of someone who worked long hours.
The family drivers had a thin layer of calluses on their fingertips from driving.
She remained silent, swiftly retrieving her phone from her bag, unlocking it with face recognition, and opening Jasper Sinclair’s chat window.
Sending a real-time location to him, she was about to type a message when the driver suddenly slammed on the brakes.
The inertia caused Nora’s body to lurch forward, and her phone fell.
In that instant, she realized she was doomed.
In the dim light, something reflective appeared, and as Nora saw it clearly, it was already at her neck.
"Let’s take a trip," the man’s voice was deep and excited, like a beast lurking in darkness that had finally caught its desired prey.
Nora’s rationality was still present, and she asked the man before her, "Are you sent by the Woodward Family?"
"Not stupid, are you."
Nora reacted after a second, realizing he was referring to her.
The phone that had fallen to the ground was picked up by the driver, then immediately thrown out the window.
All the car doors and windows were locked.
The driver drove into a neighborhood, and the gatekeeper didn’t even glance, letting them through directly.
Nora tried to remain calm, hoping to extract some useful information from the driver, "Did Rachel Woodward send you, or someone else from the Woodward Family?"
"You’ll find out when we get there."
"You’re helping them for money, right?"
The driver ignored her, clearly not interested in money.
Henceforth, no matter what she said, she received no response.
