Chapter 693: Where Did the Aphrodisiac Come From

One o’clock in the morning.

The effects of Jasper Sinclair’s medication wore off, leaving the person beside him utterly drained.

"They really put a lot of effort into targeting you." Nora Northwood said weakly.

Two years of marriage, this was the most uncontrollable moment for Jasper Sinclair.

"A risky move, I’m afraid this isn’t entirely the idea of the Woodward Family; the second branch must be involved as well."

"You mean..."

Nora’s eyes widened, incredulous that Lynn Woodward would resort to such a despicable method.

But soon, she figured it out.

Lynn Woodward had always wanted her niece to marry into the Sinclair Family, constantly provoking tension in their marriage, even being sarcastic several times in front of Grandma Sinclair.

Being so late, Jasper Sinclair told her to rest first, while he went out to retrieve the hotel’s surveillance footage.

The staff in charge of the surveillance claimed that several of the hotel’s devices had malfunctioned recently and hadn’t been repaired yet.

This outcome was within Jasper Sinclair’s expectations.

Nora Northwood suffered from a splitting headache and an unexpected high fever.

She grumbled with dissatisfaction, "Obviously, you were the one who took a cold shower, how come I’m the one who suffers!"

"I’m sorry you had to suffer, Nora. The doctor will be here soon; how about drinking a cup of hot water?"

"As expected, all men can say is ’drink more hot water’!" The sick girl was a bit spoiled.

Jasper Sinclair speculated that the chill from the water transferred to Nora Northwood while they were in bed, which caused this.

"Tomorrow I’ll make you some soup at home, whatever you want to drink."

Nora ignored him, tangled in another issue, she asked, "If I hadn’t arrived in time, would you and Rachel Woodward have done something inappropriate?"

The private doctor, carrying a medical kit, arrived precisely after this question, and Jasper Sinclair stood up to open the door.

The doctor, visibly flustered, must have run all the way; he asked, panting, "Mr. Sinclair, where is the patient?"

"Inside, follow me."

The thermometer gun showed Nora Northwood’s body temperature nearing thirty-nine, which was quite severe.

The doctor warmed the stethoscope’s head with his hand before proceeding to the next step.

Finally, it was determined that her high fever was caused by the chill.

"This is paracetamol, take one tablet."

After a lot of fuss, it turned out just to be a fever medication, and Nora complained that Jasper Sinclair was making a big deal out of it.

At the hospital.

Rachel Woodward had changed into a blue and white hospital gown, and the effects of the aphrodisiac had been resolved under medical intervention, but her body still suffered irreversible damage.

Lynn Woodward stood in front of her bed with a grim face, "Who would’ve thought the first family’s son was so resilient, able to hold back in such circumstances!"

Rachel Woodward didn’t respond, her ten fingers hidden in her sleeves twisted together incessantly.

She had already suffered enough humiliation today.
