Chapter 649: The Streets of Singapore

Chapter 649: The Streets of Singapore

Nora replied with a head-tapping emoji, explaining, "I’m soaking in the bath."

After saying that, she felt something was off and pressed long to retract the message.

At the top of the screen, "Typing..." was replaced by Jasper Sinclair’s name as he called.

The first thing he asked Nora was, "Why did you retract it?"

She replied irritably, "People who don’t know might think I’m playing hard to get."

"It’s not entirely impossible; I could fly to Singapore in about four hours."

Nora, momentarily dazed, actually calculated the time, estimating it would be in the early morning.

Soon, she dismissed the idea.

"I’m heading back to Stanton City the day after tomorrow; don’t bother making the trip, wait till I return to bring you a gift."

Nora was afraid Jasper would indeed make the flight; it was something he was capable of doing.

Upper arm.

Lily was fiddling with the projector, preparing to watch a favorite TV show and gradually fall asleep.

During the opening credits, she crafted a post for her social media, with the location set in Singapore.

Finishing up, she lay back to enjoy her show.

The movie was roughly one hundred and thirty minutes long, and by the time Lily finished watching, it was exactly eleven o’clock.

She searched for her phone on the bed, ready to set an alarm for eight the next morning.

Unexpectedly, she saw a message from Finnian Lawrence.

Lily’s breath caught momentarily, and in the chat box, Finnian had asked her, "Where are you?"

Looking closely, it was sent an hour ago.

Holding her phone, she was a bit flustered and unsure.

Suddenly, the hotel doorbell rang, and Lily’s first reaction was that it was Finnian.

But she quickly dismissed the thought.

Based on Finnian’s personality, even if they were both in Singapore, he wouldn’t rashly enter a girl’s room.

Lily’s heart, already on a roller coaster, couldn’t handle any more surprises.

She walked barefoot to the entrance, peering through the peephole to see who was outside.

Finnian Lawrence, dressed in a business suit, was breathing heavily, indicating he hurried to get there.

Lily grasped the door handle, her expression more colorful than seeing a ghost.

She asked incredulously, "What are you doing in Singapore?" Suddenly recalling the Cayenne she passed, she mumbled, "It couldn’t really be your Cayenne, right?"

"How did you know it was a Cayenne?"

Finnian looked at her, simultaneously taking a small step forward.

The two stood awkwardly at the door, neither going in nor stepping back.

Lily couldn’t understand why Finnian showed up so disheveled in front of her; what was his purpose?

Hadn’t he already rejected her through his actions?

In the silence, Finnian spoke first, "Aren’t you going to invite me in?"

"It’s late at night, it’s not very convenient," Lily said, but her actions were honest as she leaned against the door, opening it slightly to make room for him.

Suddenly, she heard a soft laugh, faint and carefree.

In a foreign land, nothing stirred intimacy between people more.

The two sat facing each other on the couch, Lily’s back straight, hands resting on her knees as though she was a high school student attentively listening to a lecture.

All the courage in her body had burned out in the bonfire of the night.

Now, she wanted to speak but didn’t dare to, sitting there awkwardly.

Whatever Finnian gave her, she took it.
