Chapter 647: In Cahoots
Chapter 647: In Cahoots
Jasper Sinclair reserved a four-person square table at a Chinese restaurant in the business district.
Along with the couple, Lily Sloan and Louis Hayes were also present.
The waiter hadn’t served the appetizers yet, and Louis opened his laptop.
Lily’s mind suddenly recalled a phrase from a viral online joke: please watch the VCR.
She twirled her wine glass in her hand, listening to their conversation.
"In the place where you had the incident, Jenson Sinclair’s car appeared before." Louis explained each picture to Nora Northwood while scrolling through the images on the screen.
Nora reviewed them from start to finish, realizing she made a mistake.
The mistake was that she hadn’t noticed those two people were already in collusion.
She sighed, "They truly are thick as thieves!"
At that moment, Jasper Sinclair, sitting beside her, spoke up, "If it weren’t because of me, you wouldn’t have been implicated. It’s my fault."
Nora, sitting closest to him, could sense the change in his atmosphere, like a glacier consolidating, exuding a cold aura.
Before the aura dispersed, Nora quickly spoke, "It’s nothing to blame you for, I haven’t even mentioned Spencer Ford’s matter implicated you."
Between a couple, there’s no need to be calculative about everything.
The waiter timely served the appetizers, simple cucumber salad and sweet osmanthus lotus root, looking and smelling delicious.
During the meal, Nora received an invitation from an experience hall for the upcoming weekend, three days later, and she asked Lily if she wanted to join.
The young girl seemed recently absent-minded, often zoning out. The air was silent for a few seconds before she realized, "Nora, what did you just say?"
"I said, shall we go to a fragrance experience hall in Singapore for two days and one night?" Nora repeated.
"Of course, I’m going!"
Lily decided to use this opportunity to relax a bit and adjust her state.
The matter concerning Finnian Lawrence had impacted her significantly.
...
During Singapore’s off-peak tourist season, flight prices were nearly half the usual cost.
The host of VK was The Chloe Fragrance Hall, and when Nora and Lily arrived, there weren’t many people inside.
Nora chatted idly with a familiar perfumer by the sofa. On the coffee table was a pot of bubbling prickly pear tea.
The room was filled with fragrances, a blend of various perfume notes, yet not overwhelming.
Nora sniffed the air, finding the scent here even richer than her private fragrance studio.
During their conversation, she glanced over at Lily and found her interacting with a man resembling a finance professional, standing side by side selecting scents at the round table.
One by one, perfumers arrived, and the person chatting with Nora had to excuse themselves to attend to guests.
Left alone, Nora poured herself a cup of tea, gently stroking the glazed porcelain with her fingertip, and slowly walked over to the fragrance station.
On the opposite side, Lily was intently smelling the scents, curious about everything.
Unfortunately, she didn’t have the talent for perfumery.
Otherwise, Nora would have placed her in VK’s fragrance department.
"Which fragrance do you like?" Nora asked her.
Lily’s fingers hovered between osmanthus and wood pear scents repeatedly, finally choosing the former.
Nora, however, said, "I think the scent of fresh pears suits you better, sweet but not cloying."
"Wow, such a high compliment for me!" Lily listened, feeling exceptionally delighted.
Which girl doesn’t enjoy being praised?
