Chapter 625: Getting the Cast Removed at the Hospital
Chapter 625: Getting the Cast Removed at the Hospital
The next day.
Nora Northwood went to the hospital to remove her cast, accompanied by Elaine and Uncle Kevin.
By coincidence, Rachel Woodward was also having her cast removed on the same day. The two wheelchairs inadvertently stopped at the orthopedics clinic.
Even though she was wrapped in a comical cast, she couldn’t let go of her lady-like demeanor. She said half-jokingly, half-mockingly, "Nora, it seems we’re truly destined to cross paths."
"Do you ever wonder how things turned out this way?"
For the past month, Nora still hadn’t suspected that there was something hidden behind the incident of her injury.
Feeling guilty, Rachel remained silent and went inside first to change her dressing.
When she came out, she brushed past Nora and said in a smug tone, "You’ve been lying at home for a month, so you probably have no idea what’s been happening outside."
Initially, Nora didn’t understand what she meant.
She just thought Rachel was a crazy woman who spouted nonsense all day.
Later, Uncle Kevin pushed Nora inside, saying, "Madam, I’ll wait for you outside."
The cast removal process was relaxing, and it was all over in a matter of about ten minutes.
"Avoid strenuous exercise, have another scan in two weeks..."
The doctor gave a few instructions, but Nora let them in one ear and out the other. At this moment, she was just delighted to be able to walk again.
After leaving the hospital, she instructed the driver to head straight to the airport.
Jasper Sinclair was expected to land in three hours. She didn’t have anything to do at home, so she figured she’d go early and wait for a while.
Along the way, the breeze felt sweet.
...
At the pickup area.
The airport was exceptionally crowded; perhaps some pop star was arriving to perform in Stanton City.
Nora thought casually to herself as she opened the car door, steadied herself on the ground, and spun around a few times.
Having not walked for so long, there was a momentary sense of unreality.
After spinning in place for an hour, Nora finally grew tired and returned to the car to rest again.
Uncle Kevin and Elaine had been persuaded to go home by her, so she had come alone.
Driver: I’m invisible.
Five o’clock.
Jasper Sinclair and Louis Hayes both appeared at the exit and spotted the Maybach.
When Nora goes out on her own, she rarely chooses such a flashy car.
Worried that Jasper might not find her, she had deliberately picked this especially eye-catching limousine.
You couldn’t find a more striking car in the entire parking lot.
Normally, Jasper would remember the friendship between him and Louis and give him a ride home.
But today was different.
With just a few words, he dispatched Louis, "Call for a car, charge it to the company account. You worked hard this trip, take a paid day off."
"Thank you, Director Sinclair."
Louis’s daily salary started at least four figures; to him, it was a huge reward.
The fatigue from the long flight vanished. He grabbed his suitcase and bid farewell to Nora before leaving.
"Why not give him a ride back?"
"It’s inconvenient."
Nora didn’t understand what was inconvenient about it.
Until she heard Jasper instruct the driver, "Raise the partition."
Soon, the opaque partition divided the car into two separate spaces.
He then grabbed Nora’s calf, placed it on his own leg, and carefully examined it, asking with concern, "Is there anywhere still uncomfortable?"
"No more."
Nora’s voice was almost too soft to detect. She could feel the layer of calluses on his palm, rough against the surface of her skin.
"Come sit here."
Jasper patted his thigh twice, indicating for her to come over. Though it was an embarrassing gesture, his expression seemed as if he was doing something very serious.
