Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk

Chapter 497: What Did You Just Call Me?

Chapter 497: What Did You Just Call Me?

That night, Nora Northwood came down with a high fever.

Shortly after she returned to the bedroom, she heard the doorbell ring urgently downstairs.

Thinking it was Vincent Morgan with some business, she opened the door and said, "Morgan."

Jasper Sinclair’s face turned black instantly.

He asked coldly, "What did you just call me?"

Nora squinted her eyes hard to see who it was.

Jasper was wearing a thin sweater, black turtleneck, which had a very masculine charm.

Instinctively wanting to avoid him, she was about to close the door, but his hand blocked it midway.

"Jasper, do you not want your hand?"

Nora stepped back in shock, giving the man an opportunity to come in.

She couldn’t imagine what would have happened if she hadn’t pulled her hand back just now.

Jasper ignored her, glanced around to confirm the room was empty, and then relaxed a bit.

"Who did you have dinner with tonight?"

Nora didn’t know someone witnessed the scene at the restaurant, so she retorted, "It’s none of your business."

"I am your husband."

"I don’t acknowledge it. Please leave your house, or I’ll call the police for trespassing."

"Then call the police." Jasper had an indifferent attitude, catching the faint scent of sweet wine on her, which he didn’t quite like.

"Rogue! Utterly shameless!"

The influence of alcohol made Nora less rational than usual, a bit like a rebellious high schooler arguing with family.

She turned, intending to head upstairs.

Jasper leaned sideways to block her, and her forehead bumped straight into his chest, which hurt a bit.

"What are you doing?"

Through her clothing, Jasper felt her temperature, sensed something was wrong, touched again, even more off, "Why are you so hot?"

Estimated to be above thirty-eight degrees.

"Maybe I’m wearing too much."

At this moment, Nora was already wrapped in a robe.

Jasper, connecting her flushed face, suspected another possibility, and said almost certainly, "Nora, you have a fever."

Nora wanted to deny it, but upon feeling her body’s discomfort, realized she might indeed have a fever.

"Where is the medicine cabinet?" Jasper asked.

"Under the TV, left drawer."

Nora staggered and collapsed onto the soft sofa, looking resigned to being at his mercy.

Watching Jasper bending over, her heart felt desolate.

After using the mercury thermometer, they found her temperature had reached thirty-nine point three degrees.

Jasper wanted to take her to the hospital, but she insisted against it, "A few fever-reducing pills will do, it’s not a big issue."

In past years, she wouldn’t even take fever reducers, always gulping down water thinking hot water could solve everything.

Jasper couldn’t rest easy leaving her alone, so he stayed up all night.

Nora fell asleep around dawn. During the night, her brows remained tightly knit, possibly having a nightmare.

Time and work didn’t allow her to rest in bed, as she needed to attend a tasting event that day.

Upon waking up, she found Jasper resting on a chair.

Nora only felt a splitting headache and aching waist, perhaps the aftermath of the fever.

She moved quietly, not wanting to wake him, never expecting that the moment she stealthily got out of bed, Jasper’s eyes opened, still clear, not at all like someone just waking up.
