Chapter 463: That’s Right, It’s Me
Chapter 463: That’s Right, It’s Me
The next second, Jasper Sinclair gave Nora Northwood a definite answer: "I’m here to be your neighbor."
Nora rolled her eyes at him and went inside.
That night.
Nora tallied up all her assets, totaling less than ten million. VK had required too much initial investment, practically draining all her resources.
Now, if she wanted to separate from Jasper and end their relationship, she needed to settle their assets first.
Given VK’s current earnings, paying off fifty million seemed like an uphill battle.
Just as Nora was anxiously considering how to raise funds, her phone rang, pulling her attention away.
The contact "Grandma Sinclair" flashed on the screen, making her pause, wondering what business the elder had with her so late at night.
She answered, sweetly calling out, "Grandma, you haven’t gone to bed yet?"
The other end sounded a bit urgent, "I have something I need to sort out, can’t sleep. Is Jasper with you? That rascal keeps ignoring my calls!"
Nora was caught off guard, not ready to confess to Grandma Sinclair, so she fibbed, "Jasper is in the study. Hold on, I’ll have him call you back."
"It’s a bit complicated. Can you do Grandma a favor and have him take the call right now?"
"Sure, give me two minutes."
At ten o’clock, Nora casually threw on a coat and went next door to find Jasper Sinclair.
She switched the phone to silent mode, annoyed, and said, "Why aren’t you answering Grandma’s calls?"
Jasper saw her pouting and couldn’t help but smile, then he took her phone.
"What’s Grandma looking for me for?"
While Jasper was on the call, Uncle Kevin was busying himself making tea and cutting fruits, his face filled with smiles: "Young Madam, these are specially prepared for you by Young Master."
Nora’s heart skipped a beat. How did he know I would come over?
The old man and the young woman exchanged glances for a while. Uncle Kevin added, "I’ve been with the Young Master since he was little; I’ve never seen him care so much for anyone. Not even The Sinclair Matriarch compares to you."
Nora listened and finally understood. Uncle Kevin was trying to play peacemaker.
She smiled, "Mr. Sinclair is very filial. Uncle Kevin, please don’t make fun of me."
She deflected the conversation without changing a word, like practicing Tai Chi.
Before long, Jasper returned, "Here’s your phone back. Thank you for coming over."
"I’m leaving."
Nora made to leave, but as she got up, someone stopped her, "Come to the study with me, there’s something I want to give you."
"Mr. Sinclair, we’re not related, so it wouldn’t be proper for me to accept your gift. But I appreciate the thought."
She was intent on drawing clear boundaries between them—you’re you, and I’m me.
"Come here." Jasper ignored her refusal and beckoned with his finger.
Nora stayed put, both of them locked in a standoff.
"Do I need to pull you over myself?"
"I have my own feet; I can walk." She finally relented.
She followed Jasper upstairs, where the study was still unfinished, with various small items piled in the corners.
She tripped over something and walked more cautiously, not wanting to fall. She asked again, "What are you going to give me?"
Just as she asked, Jasper pulled out a delicate jewelry box, "Open it and see. I think it’s a style you’ll like."
He’d given Nora enough gifts to know her tastes well by now.
Then, Nora opened it.
