Chapter 440: An Irreconcilable Topic
Chapter 440: An Irreconcilable Topic
If Jasper Sinclair really had a change of heart towards Peach Bell, it’s likely that all the media outlets would be scrambling to report it. By then, the business empire he built with his own hands would also be affected.
For a man with such a strong career ambition, he would absolutely not allow this to happen.
Seeing that Nora Northwood’s expression had loosened a bit, Jasper Sinclair continued his advance: "Nora, isn’t it worth considering? You’re upset with me for half a month over something you could easily figure out."
His tone was calm, but his words warmed the heart.
To make Nora Northwood relax a bit more, Jasper Sinclair picked up the coffee cup in front of him and took a slow sip, his gaze secretly observing her over the rim of the cup, watching her appear deep in thought.
After putting down the cup, he asked, "Now, have we resolved the issues between us?"
"No, we haven’t."
Jasper Sinclair was stunned.
"First, you didn’t tell me the truth immediately, which shows that there wasn’t a hundred percent trust between us. Second, you promised me personally that it wouldn’t happen a third time. Does what you say in bed not count?" she said sharply.
"I promise you, from now on..."
"Stop," Nora Northwood raised her hand and made a stop gesture in mid-air.
"And most importantly, since Peach Bell’s mind is not yet mature, how can you be sure that her affection for you isn’t romantic? She may not understand, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have it. She’s already an adult with independent thoughts!"
After she finished speaking, a coldness rose in Jasper Sinclair’s eyes, but it quickly disappeared. Suddenly, he couldn’t find the words to retort, as if the path ahead was blocked by snow, leaving him unable to move forward or backward.
Yes, how could he be sure of Peach Bell’s thoughts... all along, it had just been his side of the story.
A sense of defeat arose in his heart, and he admitted defeat, "Nora Northwood, just tell me what you think, so we can stop this cold war."
"Let Peach Bell return to where she originally belonged; this place is not for her."
Although Nora Northwood didn’t know where Peach Bell originally came from, it was clear that the Sinclair Family was not where she belonged, nor the side of Jasper Sinclair.
"As the leader of Stanton Enterprises, you shouldn’t want negative news about the Sinclair Family. Under the journalists’ keyboards, black is black, and white is also black. It’s unpredictable when you and Peach Bell might be set up again."
"Nora Northwood!" Jasper Sinclair called her name; she had crossed the line. The "Sinclair Family" had always been Jasper Sinclair’s bottom line.
Nora Northwood laughed at herself, "Since you can’t do it, why make me say it." She stood up, ready to leave, guessing that tonight they wouldn’t reach an agreement again.
Jasper Sinclair was a beat too slow; when he lifted his hand to grab, he only caught a wisp of air.
The next day.
Nora Northwood was about to head out to class. As she opened the door, she saw Jasper Sinclair standing at the door with breakfast, looking as calm and unruffled as if the conversation from the previous night never happened.
He could do it, but Nora Northwood couldn’t.
"Move aside, my friend and I are going to school for classes."
"I’ll go with you, the breakfast is for three, and the driver is already downstairs."
While they were tangled up in this conversation, Andrea Miller had already come out of another room. Seeing a man at Nora Northwood’s door, she thought he was up to no good and directly charged forward, bumping him to the side, "What are you trying to do?"
All the tangled musings were extinguished in an instant.
Nora Northwood had no idea where Andrea Miller, small as she was, got the strength to make Jasper Sinclair budge.
