Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk

Chapter 439: An Uncrossable Chasm

Chapter 439: An Uncrossable Chasm

In the elevator, the lack of circulating air made people feel suffocated.

Nora Northwood didn’t know how to start the conversation, and Jasper Sinclair felt this wasn’t the place to talk, so neither of them said a word.

Exiting the elevator and reaching the hotel lobby, a man in a suit led a scruffy woman, and such a pairing was indeed peculiar. Additionally, with two Oriental faces, they drew quite a bit of attention along the way.

Fortunately, Nora was pretty, and even the most ordinary home wear could look like a model’s attire on her.

Louis Hayes once again assumed the role of the driver, quietly waiting downstairs.

However, Jasper Sinclair had no intention of getting in the car; instead, he chose a nearby café.

The café was vintage and exquisite, resembling buildings from the last century, attracting many customers to take photos and check-in.

Seeking tranquility, they found a corner by the window, with a view of the staggered buildings across the street.

Nora Northwood had little appetite and only ordered a strawberry tart, the ruby-red strawberry sauce forming enticing threads of sugar.

She shifted her gaze from the strawberry tart and found the person opposite her staring at her intently.

Eventually, she broke the silence: "What do you want to talk about?"

Jasper Sinclair looked at her slightly widened eyes, seemingly saying, "There’s nothing to talk about between us!"

The man felt somewhat defeated, and his defined features tightened further, like glaciers gathering. After a few seconds of silence, he pulled out a hospital examination report from his pocket.

The small A4 paper had been in his suit pocket for twenty hours, held tightly and then released, now opened looking wrinkled and unsightly.

Nora noticed the words "congenital heart disease" and held her breath, thinking it was Jasper’s examination result, until she saw Peach Bell’s name on it, causing her to inadvertently breathe a sigh of relief.

"Peach Bell has a heart disease?" she asked.

The reason for her relief wasn’t emotional indifference but the fact that the patient had little connection to her, making her not too sorrowful or upset, at most, she felt a bit of pity.

"Diagnosed about three months ago, during the play we watched," Nora recalled, that was the first time Jasper had left her outside alone.

She couldn’t grasp the significance of the report or what Jasper wanted to convey, and while she was thinking randomly, her expression darkened: "So, in the final stages of life, you plan to accompany her, right?"

Jasper was still processing the clear meaning of her words when she added: "If you came to United America to find me because of this, it wasn’t necessary."

Upon hearing this, the man realized she misunderstood and hurriedly explained: "The condition was discovered early; timely treatment wouldn’t have a significant impact on life, Nora."

Upon hearing her name, Nora came back to her senses, aware that she had been too harsh in her words. She turned awkwardly to look out the window.

Jasper continued: "At that time, the situation was urgent, and I had no choice but to rush to the hospital. Not taking care of your emotions was my fault.

Peach Bell is mentally not completely mature; to her, the affection she holds for me is merely familial concern. From another perspective, we’re fifteen years apart in age, what do you think she represents in my eyes?"

A touch of awkwardness passed over Nora’s face, perhaps due to the nearly ten-year age gap between her and Jasper, causing her to overlook this factual issue.
