Chapter 370: Persistent High Fever

Chapter 370: Persistent High Fever

"Jasper, I want some water."

Nora Northwood’s voice was muffled under the blanket, carrying a sickly hoarseness.

Jasper Sinclair opened his eyes in a daze, noticing the alarming heat of her body, "Nora, you have a fever."

The man got up, poured a cup of warm water, and placed it on the bedside table, "Sit up and drink some water."

However, Nora was utterly exhausted and felt overwhelmingly weak, her arms deeply sunken into the soft mattress.

Jasper turned on the light, the bright illumination stung her eyes, causing tears to well up as she petulantly said, "Don’t turn on the lights."

"Alright." Jasper, sounding like he was soothing a child, dimmed the lights, then supported her shoulders, letting her lean against him before handing over the cup, gently saying, "Drink slowly."

After drinking half a cup of warm water, Nora barely regained her voice, "My head hurts, it feels like it’s going to explode."

Jasper decisively said, "You’re very hot, we’re going to the hospital now."

Upon hearing this, Nora immediately buried herself under the blanket, weakly saying, "I don’t want to move."

"We have a car, I’ll drive us there."

"I still don’t want to move."

"Or I can carry you there, you need to see a doctor when you’re sick, your forehead is very hot now."

After a long negotiation, no matter how much Jasper tried to persuade her, Nora’s response remained "No."

Seeing her heavy demeanor, Jasper’s heart softened, and he dialed the hotel’s hotline service.

The hotline for the presidential suite has staff on 24-hour shifts.

"I need a doctor, someone here has a fever." Jasper fluently expressed his request in French over the phone.

After hanging up, he tucked Nora’s blanket more securely and raised the air conditioning temperature to twenty-eight degrees.

"Jasper, your French sounds beautiful."

At this moment, Nora’s mind was already muddled by the fever, not even aware of what she was saying, just following the most basic human instinct.

"I can teach you in the future too."

"I think of you every day." Her voice was so hoarse that it was almost unrecognizable.

"Me too."

"Jasper, you can’t marry anyone else."

Hearing this, Jasper paused, realizing she was delirious and speaking incoherently, no wonder she was talking in circles.

He couldn’t help but shake his head and smile gently, it seemed, Nora was still pondering over Peach Bell’s words.

Even knowing that Nora was in a dazed state, he patiently reassured her, "I won’t, my wife is only Nora Northwood, it’s only you, no one else."

He wasn’t sure if Nora really heard his words, only that the person in his arms went quiet.

After some time, a slender arm reached out from under the blanket, grasping the edge of his pajamas.

Jasper worried Nora might catch a chill, so he tucked her arm back in, leaving his hand there, holding her tightly, while the other hand cushioned under her head.

Suddenly, Jasper felt a warm liquid drip on his wrist.

He looked down to find a few crystal tears hanging in Nora’s eyes, unsure if she was asleep or awake, he gently called out "Nora," but there was no response.

Nora had a dream where Jasper abandoned her; the sorrow stung her nose fiercely, unaware that she was already weeping outside of the dream.
