Chapter 351: Perhaps a Mistake
Chapter 351: Perhaps a Mistake
"Did I hear that right? You brought them back to Southwood Court?"
"It’s a long story. Feel it out carefully, then blame me if you must."
Jasper Sinclair believed that one day, Nora Northwood would understand his helplessness.
However, he overlooked one crucial aspect.
In the past twenty-odd years, Nora had never felt any love from family, so she didn’t understand the true meaning of parents or Jasper’s utter helplessness regarding Peach Bell.
From her perspective, it was entirely possible to offer financial support or the help the other party needed, just like before.
Except not keeping them at home, whether it’s the estate, Southwood Court, or even the Sinclair Family’s old residence.
Nora closed her eyes, unsure for a moment who she was truly angry with.
She held back and held back, but ultimately couldn’t keep it in, asking the somewhat inappropriate question, "When do you plan to send Peach Bell away?"
No woman wants a rival in love to appear in their home.
Even the most good-tempered Nora couldn’t do it.
"Once I’ve thoroughly investigated the true cause of my parents’ death, I’ll send her away."
"Alright, I hope you can follow through and not let me down, again and again."
"Perhaps it will take a bit more time."
The last sentence played repetitively in Nora’s mind, affecting her mood until it became incomprehensibly low to outsiders.
Jasper broke the silence once more, "Next week, I’ll be going to Australia. It’s the place my parents lived at during their lifetime and also the main development base for The Sinclair Group’s overseas businesses."
"How long will it take to resolve everything?"
"I can’t give you a definite answer right now, but I assure you I will be as fast as possible."
This mystery that had puzzled Jasper for over ten years was something he was more eager to solve than anyone else.
Nora didn’t press further; she didn’t wish for her emotions to offend the deceased.
As she prepared to rest, Jasper noticed the scar on her elbow, "When did you get injured?"
"I knocked over a few glass bottles in the fragrance room, nothing major."
Nora downplayed it.
She had trouble calming herself at work today and accidentally overturned a rack, sending dozens of bottles of essential oils crashing to the ground, cutting her skin.
Nora’s skin was delicate, and even a minor cut could bleed profusely. Today, she handled a heap of tiny glass shards, ending up with wounds all over her upper body.
Yet, there was a bigger wound in her heart.
Jasper gently rubbed the wound, heartbroken, "Nora, you must learn to protect yourself; otherwise, how can I be at ease going to Australia?"
"Got it."
The words had been exchanged. Jasper tiredly unbuttoned his shirt and went to the bathroom.
Only a door separated the bathroom from the bedroom. Listening to the sound of water flowing inside, Nora thought to herself, someone like him staying at Southwood Court was indeed condescending.
The recent wedding was her first visit to Jasper Sinclair’s private estate—its luxury and extravagance far exceeded her understanding of the world.
She thought she had entered the life of the wealthy, never expecting that the real wealthy lifestyle was beyond her imagination and represented a distance between her and Jasper that just couldn’t be bridged.
Nora began to wonder whether the start of this marriage was a mistake.
