Chapter 315: Unconscious
Chapter 315: Unconscious
The steaming hot porridge was in hand, yet Jasper Sinclair felt like it tasted like chewing wax.
Soon, he finished a cup of hot porridge.
Jasper returned to his original position, sitting motionless on the cold chair.
Time, which once felt insufficient, now seemed to pass so slowly.
At night.
The hospital equipment suddenly emitted a "beep beep" sound. Before Jasper could press the emergency button, a doctor hurried in from outside the ward.
"We need to perform a full-body check on the patient. Please wait outside the ward."
Jasper was sent outside. As soon as the curtain was drawn, he could no longer see the situation inside.
The silent corridor and the infinite darkness enveloped him.
Even with assets worth billions, he couldn’t save his loved one from danger.
Jasper watched several young nurses go in and out, pushing equipment in their hands.
Each movement made his heart hang by a thread.
He didn’t know how much time had passed before a doctor was willing to stop in front of him.
"The patient has developed a high fever due to an infection in the wound. From now on, we will change the medicine and bandages every three hours."
Jasper listened carefully to every word and every sentence, noticing that even the brim of the doctor’s hat was soaked with sweat.
He repeatedly said "thank you" several times, as there were no better words at this moment.
The next morning.
Grandma Sinclair came to the ward carrying a heavy insulated box and asked uncertainly, "Will Nora wake up today?"
"The doctor said she would wake up within these two days."
"The poor child, you’re a man well past thirty, why are you getting into a tussle with a little girl?" the elderly woman said while opening the insulated box. The broth she had simmered for hours wafted a delicious aroma.
Jasper let the old lady chatter beside him, not daring to utter a word of rebuttal.
Another day passed, yet Nora showed no signs of waking up.
This realization made Jasper’s heart panic.
At this moment, the company also experienced some changes; the partner wanted to terminate the contract with The Sinclair Group, even at the risk of breaching the contract.
Jasper had no choice but to personally handle the matter.
The man who was usually calm and composed now had worry written all over his face.
"The other party insists on terminating the contract because someone else offered them better benefits."
His voice was hoarse and strained.
"This New Year’s first cooperation project, these people really are bad luck," Louis Hayes’ half-month vacation was interrupted, reaching a peak of resentment towards the project leader this time.
"First, investigate who exactly gave them such confidence to go against The Sinclair Group."
Back in the office, Jasper reclaimed his ruthless and decisive image.
However, upon closer inspection, a hint of loneliness could still be seen in his eyes.
Following the lead provided by his own president, Louis Hayes delved into the investigation. The more he dug, the more astonishing the findings.
The small company about to terminate the contract with The Sinclair Group was, surprisingly, connected to Jenson Sinclair.
Judging by the timeline, it was at least a month before the New Year.
Louis reported the results of his investigation to Jasper one by one.
Hearing this, Jasper found it simply laughable, "Some people really can’t be helped to stand."
He tugged at his tie, his whole body leaning back, resting on the chairback.
"President Sinclair, what should we do next?"
"Just play along with him, see if he can really pay up to ten times the penalty."
