Chapter 301: Departure
Chapter 301: Departure
As the end of the year approached, the airport was bustling with people.
Nora Northwood and Jasper Sinclair boarded the plane when the sky was still overcast.
Under the streetlights, you could see the airport staff busy at work.
Nora sat in her seat, looking a bit tired from the morning’s rush.
Jasper asked a flight attendant for a thin blanket and covered half of her body with it.
Someone passed by them, a middle-aged woman in a light-colored coat stopped, "Jasper."
Jasper, already sitting straight, tried to straighten his back even more and greeted, "Aunt Hutchinson, what a coincidence, are you going to London too?"
At first glance, he was surprised, but then, seeing Vincent Morgan behind Elaine, he could roughly guess that they were also going to participate in the competition.
The quiet conversation between the two reached Nora’s ears.
She opened her eyes and greeted politely, "Master Elaine, Mr. Morgan, I didn’t expect to meet you here."
After a few pleasantries, she realized that Elaine’s seat was just right in front of theirs.
This journey would take thirteen hours.
After the plane took off, Nora’s eyelids couldn’t help but droop, and before long, she fell into a deep sleep.
Jasper flipped through magazines from time to time and occasionally glanced at her profile.
He didn’t know how long it had been since he had looked at her so quietly.
The temperature in London was a few degrees lower than in Stanton City.
When they left the airport, they all took the hotel’s shuttle car.
This international competition was rather significant, and the hotel accommodations were all provided by the organizers, with all participants staying in the same hotel.
In the car, Elaine asked, "Shall we have dinner together tonight?"
"Sure, just the chance to catch up with Aunt Hutchinson."
On the way, they chatted casually, and Elaine seemed quite fond of Nora, "Like your husband, just call me Aunt Hutchinson."
During their conversation, she sighed, "If my daughter were still around, she’d be about your age."
Nora was unaware that Elaine had once lost a daughter.
She didn’t dare delve into it for fear of touching on a painful subject.
Immediately, Jasper said, "Last time you mentioned your daughter’s photo. Remember to give me some when you return home, and I’ll help you look for her."
"Child, you’re so thoughtful." Elaine was very grateful.
After returning to the hotel, the four of them went their separate ways.
In private, Nora inquired, "Was Aunt Hutchinson’s daughter missing?"
"Yes, it was said she was taken away right after she was born and then sold."
Upon hearing this, Nora couldn’t help but feel some sympathy.
The sky was colorful, and the moon was surrounded by scattered starlight.
Winter in London had a strong sense of presence, unlike the gentleness of Stanton City.
Jasper had reserved a Chinese restaurant near the hotel, worried that Nora might not acclimatize well, taking care of her attentively throughout.
Elaine teased them, "Newlyweds, how sweet your relationship is."
Nora seldom heard elders speak like this, and she was a bit embarrassed for a moment, "Sorry for making you laugh, Aunt Hutchinson."
While waiting for the meal, she chatted with Vincent, "Why didn’t I see you in the previous two competitions, Mr. Morgan?"
"I happened to be out of town during that period, participating in events in other cities."
The two discussed possible topics for the international competition, chatting warmly.
Though Jasper felt a bit jealous, he couldn’t express it with others around.
